HELLO FRIENDS!! hope you guys are having a swell week!! it's been a bit of a weird week for me, but we sincerely enjoyed ~completely failing~ at making frog with knife molds, and doing an OK job at making bat and skull molds! i think we're probably going to have to try this one again at a different time to actually make some usable molds lol, but we did discover some new possible characters: "dolphin with blowtorch" & "furby with mommy milkers", so stay tuned to see if we can convince merch designer jordan to craft them for us!! xoxo, saf

Ok so I recently binged "is it cake" on Netflix and bakers apparently use some type of harder silicone for moulds that the object is pressed into which seems to lend itself better to your purposes :) I'll leave all *actual* research to Carly though :D

Good that Carly is a disembodied voice of wisdom and knowledge: there is no room for a bodied voice, there.
Some silicone casting tips: glue the item's bottom to the cup before pouring the silicone so that it can't seep underneath. When cutting around a cast object, use a sharp craft knife and do one single, deep cute that grazes the object. You want to go right down to the object with one cut and make the line a zigzag so that the two edges marry up perfectly for casting.
GMM and saf&ty should collab on a destroy-a-furby video. Rhett and Link have the experience and safiya has the passion lol

Tip for if you ever do the melted chocolate thing: PLEASE temper the chocolate (if you're not using non-temp)! It'll fail if you don't. Basically if you don't temper it the chocolate will only harden when cold, and will melt when on the counter/in your hand (and other things will happen but that's the main issue in your case). But, as I already mentioned, you could use non-temp chocolate (it should say on the package which type it is) which you can simply melt and mold any way you like,, and it'll set, but it doesn't taste as nice. Buuut if it's only for a stream I guess it won't make a huge difference. Anyways, looking forward to any possible future chocolate content! :)

There are 5 mammals that lay eggs - the Platypus and 4 species of echidnas (all from Australia). To be a mammals you just need to be a warm-blooded vertebrate animal of a class that is distinguished by the possession of hair or fur, females that secrete milk for the nourishment of the young, and (typically) the birth of live young
This^ - the platypus is a semiaquatic egg-laying mammal.
And they have a special name: monotremes! 😊😊
Milk secretion is the specific feature that named our class. Degrading it to 3rd in a list of miscellaneous criteria doesn't really do it justice. Also fur is supplemental and possibly going to evolve out of some species where it has already been reduced to almost nothing (whales, elephants, hippopotami, pigs, humans).

Hey Safiya and Tyler, if you want the similar molds you showed in Pink you'll have to hot glue the pieces on a flat surface or a bowl that can be flexible when you de-mold them. Working with silicone isn't easy 🥲 I definitely recommend Evan and Katelyn for silicone videos, but they do use a different brand than the quick set ones you guys have.
If you glue a piece whether it is on the bottom or back of the item you'll have to either build the walls around it or you put it in a bowl and pour the silicone in. Pour the silicone from up higher so you'll get less bubbles but if you want a two piece mold you'll have to use an oil or petroleum jelly in between the silicone or else they'll fuse together :) I'd like to see you guys try again I hope this, makes sense! (Sorry if my English isn't that good 😅)

I did some silicone molds back in the day, and I'm enjoying every minute of it.
Tip I learned through soap making- instead of using the knife after it came out of the mold to clean up the edges, keep it in the mold and run your knife horizontally flesh with the mold. It comes out so much better and it’s so much easier

How did Frog with Knife even get started? I thought I had watched all the streams but I definitely could have been tuned out.
@@grass-ifrass I think it was the carbonated drinks one. The frog w knife appeared and the stream crashed hehe.
The problem is you need to stick the items down to the bottom and then pour on top. If the item is free floating, you'll always get them randomly suspended in the middle.

To make the frog mold work cut an x into the top of it. This will allow the silicone to open but still retains the 3d shape. You can also get items out of the silicone much easier.
I could tell Saf and Tyler had some whole-hearted fun during this stream. I loved watching this💗

Mammals are warm blooded and nurse their young. Most of them are also covered in at least some amount of hair and the vast majority of them give birth to live young except for two that lay eggs

If only I had waited a week to make my bleeding skull candle mold! This is the best coincidence!!!
I would highly recommend the aluminite amazing rubber mold. It is the yellow one and it's the consistency of silly putty and you just mix each putty together at an even ratio and then you can do the push in mold method that your trying to get a flat back. You can also do a two part mold but you wouldn't need to add a mold release in between the 2 pieces so the silicone rubber doesn't fuse with itself. Feel free to msg me if you have any questions.

Finally got bingo!! Can’t watch live anymore bc Tuesdays I volunteer at a humane society, I miss the live but I get to spend a few hours with a bunch of cats lol so it’s worth it 🥰

LOL - so many great moments, but towards the end when you try to remove the not quite ready Carly ones and see a Madame Tussaud's melting skull and then say (like calm and responsible parents) "oh he's just not ready" - that one really got to me! It's the heat of the moment unintentional things... Thank you - still laughing... 😅

Oh my gosh the bat and skull look so cute! You guys should try making a bigger skull mold using the big skull from a store that sells halloween decor or even a medical bookstore as a part of an anatomy display. Just imagine, a lifesize soap skull.

You guys might have more luck with the putty style silicone mold making where you mix parts a and b then press your item into it! Claire Saffitz used it in one of her Gourmet Makes episodes (I think the oreo one)
i think frog with a knife chose to curse chat instead of their internet connection.
yea for doing the flat back cabochons like the molds they bought those are from items that r already flat backed and then taped/glued to the bottom of the container and then had silicone poured on top.
For making cabochons with the items they have id recommend using tape and popsicle sticks to suspend them from the top with about half the item in the silicone and the rest out. this makes removal much easier and ensures the items dont sink and compromise the mold, it also gives you a perfectly flat back

I have made some leaky molds myself a couple of times, and I actually just used packing tape to seal the leaks. I use them with UV resin, and they work alright with the tapes. No more leaks.

The dolphin jumps out of water. That's when he can use the water proof blow torch. He refuels by finding a cargo ship carrying gasoline and siphoning the gas out of storage tanks.
Chairs are made for butts. In filipino we call chairs "upuan" but another less common word for it is "salongpwet" which directly translates as catcher of the butt

Watched this and felt your frustration. There is a UTuber in Australia who makes molds and sells them. She also does tutorials. (Julie Cutts, Pouring My Heart Out). I know you can't totally cover items! You persevered and did succeed to a point. Good job. Really enjoy your channel/stream.
Nomad Orcas in the Puget Sound (Washington State) can be jerks but the Orca’s that live here all the time are pretty chill.
There are some groups of orca who only feed on fish! They don’t all do the ‘hunting down seals hiding on icebergs’ type things that often get shown in nature documentaries. Orcas are so interesting in that there are different ecotypes which each have their own language, behaviour, hunting style, prey etc so you could have one group from a certain area who’s primary food source is marine mammals eg seals, whales, other dolphins etc, and then another group from somewhere else who only eat fish (like the endangered southern resident orcas who rely on chinook salmon to survive but thanks to salmon farms and dammed up rivers, their natural food source is becoming even more scarce and there are only about 74 individual southern resident orcas left in the wild)
Orcas are my favourite species - they are such intelligent, beautiful and interesting animals! 🥰❤️

So Tyler is correct that dolphins will protect humans from sharks it's been proven that dolphins will surround a human and protect them if a shark is in the water near them
Dolphins in formation based around another animal makes me think of their hunting strategies. Are they protecting the human as a distant relative or as food?

Just a couple of the things I learned from this stream: arachnoids have shards of hair, and dolphins have personal blowtorches; and Furbies do not have mommy milkers. Obviously.
You could patch over the mold where the knife came through about half an hour in x
I want to see a bat with boombox mug. because around when the blue coloring was being added to the soap for the first bat, the bat and the boombox were close and Bat with Boombox works well with From with Knife and Dolphine with Blowtorch

Mammals give birth to live young, are warm blooded, and nurse their young. Most mammals also have fur or hair but there are cases and conditions where one is born without any hair follicles like alopecia

you should have put the figurines standing up in the cup at the bottom and poured the silicone over it
i think if i made a bat soap like that, i'd use a sulfur-free modeling clay on the back of the bat so i am not stuck with a thin soap. i'd suspend it in bowl before pouring the silicone in too. the soap would be as thick as i the amount of soap i poured into the mold.

My husband is a Coke Zero person normally but he is high key obsessed with the new Coke Starlight. It's hard enough to find around here in the regular variety but oh no, he has to have the Zero version! I can only get it at the Exxon station next door! Like $2.69 for a 20 oz bottle. So high maintenance!
