Another great review, John. It's great to hear a non-biased view on gear. It's so easy to get on the hype train and A LOT of people do when their favorite artists are affiliated with something.
Hey it's definitely worth the hype, it's a really good pedal. I probably prefer my Pandemonium drive because I'm so used to it as well and how it reacts so to speak.

OCD is the way to go for sure. I was looking around quite alot to find things that help me achieve my pod tone outside of the pod but damn thats a journey haha

I absolutely love my HDPD. It really tightens up the lows and adds some nice compression and attack. I use it with almost no gain dialed in as a clean boost/shaper in front of the amp. I haven't tried the OCD, but I'm sure that great as well
So good to see a review/demo that actually criticises a product. So many of these types of video only ever tell you the good. I'd love to see you compare some of the products you showcase with similarly priced counterparts, e.g. this vs the OCD + NS2.
AngryMexicanGuy I wouldn't say I criticised it, it's a really good pedal, I just took a devils advocate stand on it. It is really good though, really good.
Yeah maybe criticise wasn't the right word but I couldn't think of a better one. I just wanted to thank you for taking that stance because I don't see it happen very often, most people have been treating this pedal as some sort of pedal jesus.
This is a great review man. You didn't just slather on the praise because you're friends with Misha like some other people did. I personally love what this pedal does and it's a tone I love but can respect you saying it's not 100% what you go for. Props.

When it comes to overdrive pedals for high gain push they are so hard to judge until you feel the difference for yourself, but awesome review
It's like this for everything I feel. For example, I love how 5150's sound, but to me they 'feel' wrong when I play through it.

It gets flubby sounding after 2 clicks (1 whole step) so I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Fortin's stuff is unnecessarily expensive, and if they won't give him one, I can't think of a single good reason why he would want to give Fortin any of his money, considering all the bullshit they've tried on their consumers. Far as I'm concerned, if they were concerned with how good their product really was, they would be begging John for a review, but it seems to me they're afraid of what he might say about it. Honest people are considered dangerous these days.
Most overrated pedal in the market today. It's an overhyped Boost.

Dude is full of shit. People were commenting on how ridiculous the price was for a 1 knob pedal on some review, and he responded trying to say that the high price tag is solely a reflection of them essentially not being mass produced offshore like other companies. I said that making excuses like that just makes you look bad b/c if you were being honest you'd say that the price tag is a reflection of you seeing what other "boutique" pedals are going for, and simply valuing your work. Of course there was no response. I think you could make an argument for like 170$, but 230$ is a joke.

thats a very nice pedal! its always on in front of my peavey 6505. Much better than the Maxon od808+ ns2 becaus it compensates the low end much better and pushes the highs well. IMO. The Attack works very well. And its easier to set up than a ns2+overdrive.
I don't like the Maxon 808 so i'd be inclinded to agree with you on this point.
I was starting to think I was the only one who liked the sound at the back of the speaker. I have a Crate open-back 1x12 combo that I practice with, and I point it ass-end out almost exclusively. For clean-boosting a distorted amp though, personally, I think there's nothing better out there for that than the good-old Maxon OD808.

The pedal seems to shape the sound a bit more to put it into its own space in the mix.. so it comes through a bit clearer.. at least in the musical track you were using.
Try the precision drive and empress para eq. With your messa bogie. I would love to hear if you combined those two. 😃

The pedal does make it sound noticeably different, but I think I actually prefer the mix without it. Either way they both sound really good, but I'm not sure I could justify spending 200 quid on it. Also I like how you left the full demo in at the end :)

I'd love to see a comparison between this and you signature od from Reaper! I'm on the lookout for an overdrive and I'm torn between the PD, Pandemonium, and the 33
Mikkel Scott - Guttural Slug/Septic Congestion all those pedals are good, try them all of you have the ability too, it's all down to personal preference imo
John Browne I have a buddy that has a PD, I'm gonna ask if I can borrow his for a while. Sadly though I have no way of trying the other two, that's why I'd love to see an updated demo of your sig man. ;) Also what you said about the Pandemonium being more high mid focused really tickled my fancy since i have been a fan of that type of sound before. Either way, great video John, I'm looking forward to seeing more content from you in the future

Agreed, however it's been discontinued so I'm not really sure if there is that much point? There's probably between 50-200 of them floating around earth, so pretty rare.
John, is there any reason why Reaper has halted production?
I just got a Reaper Pandemonium v3, and you should still be able to order them.. Nasty lil bugger it is.
sounds good, but ehh 200... im planning on getting a new OD, seems weird, but im playing on a marshall dsl100h so i really need something that tightens up my tone. the built-in noisegate is a really nice feature, but still, i dont know whats best between this and the maxon.

It is a bit expensive in my opinion but I wonder if this would be worth it over a Protone Bulb attack overdrive pedal? If you already have the Bulb overdrive pedal anyways? Buying this may be redundant and not worth the investment....

How did you find the noise gate on this thing? I've heard some reviews where it was making a weird noise when it engaged under high gain.
