A New Hope is my favorite Star Wars film and favorite film of all time and I do enjoy the OT a bit more than the Prequels, but love the prequels all the same. I enjoy many of the books and comics and games and all sort of stuff that came out and took place post Jedi that George Lucas approved of and the various stories that took place before, during and between the Prequels and Original Trilogies. The OT elitists are a big reason the Disney Trilogy happened. They only wanted the OT again and got it only worse. Now they complain about it? Well, they defiantly have themselves to blame to a good degree for it happening. They don’t want anything new with the stories and just the same thing over and over, yet they complain when it’s the same thing but bad… they got what you wanted and now they gotta live with it.

Yeah, where does Luke's exploits lead him in the Disney canon timeline? Into fire and shame. Meanwhile, the chad Luke in Legends rebuilds the Jedi, and they endure, despite major galactic wars and several betrayals. They come out stronger in the end. That which does not kill me makes me stronger. Luke may fail, sure, but it is in relatable human ways, not as a damn coward.
I repeatedly recommend various EU stuff to people and 50-75% of them hardly bother with the advice. Instead they go and consoom Disney's trash because "it's more Star Wars and I want more of it!" Well they have absolutely no excuse to dodge the EU stuff when huge chunks of it have been re-released and are only demonstrating how much they're lazy simpletons. Battered ex-wives have more dignity at this point. And yeah, OG purists definitely bear part of the blame.

Next time ask them what they did to support Star Wars after 1983. I'm genuinely curious to find out if it was anything other than buying the OT on VHS and Laserdisc.

In 2018, Lucasfilm had been stomped into the ground. "The Last Jedi" was a huge failure, and "Solo" flopped at the box office. But Kathleen Kennedy threw a hail mary with "The Mandalorian", getting Dave Favreau involved, and scored a touchdown because everyone ignored what they did the past several years. If we held our line and ignored it, we wouldn't have "Jake Kenobi" nor any of the other Disney + star wars shows coming to further shit on G-Canon. If you're an Original Trilogy Purest and simped for "The Mandalorian" after the one/two punch of "The Last Jedi" and "Solo", Disney would have been on red alert and Kennedy might, just might, have been fired.
Is Kennedy truly behind the reason we don't get new Legends, though? That's all I care about, and it honestly seems more like a Disney thing to stiff the authors out of royalties. They were caught red-handed. So even if she goes, the video games won't be branded Legends. The KOTOR remake won't be branded Legends. Disney has a hard time owning the things they invent, and I think that problem will outlast Kennedy.
