Thank you for this video on turning drawings into digital images! I’ve been wondering how to do this for a long time but most other videos are not as clear or as concise. Thank you again!
Thank you so much! I've been looking how to colour just a section of an image like you have done with your leaf! and because of your video I now know how to do it! Great videos thanks!
Damn, I got almost all my drawings in notebook pages (I doodled when I was bored in class), well, let's see If I can pull it off Update: Everything went better than expected. the worst part is that I realized how bad I am at drawing, the amount of smoothing I had to do was insane, I'm glad my life doesn't depend on my drawing skills haha
I will be referring to this tutorial repeatedly..soooo Helpful...Quick question..is it possible to change the threshold of an illustration after it has been converted to a vector image.
Recommend for this type of work Astute Graphics plugins.. especially vector scribe tool where you can replace anchorpoints , clean up in few clicks and more. Cheers. B.
I’ve never done this before so I’m asking from a non practitioner point of view but couldn’t you just hand draw each image bigger and a little more precise so you didn’t have to add/delete so many anchor points to shape your leaves, or does that cause more distortion in the image?
thank you so much wow! you explain it so well. What happens when the object > expand button is not able to be selected? Mine is grey and won't let me select it! what does that mean please?
Hi! great tutorial! I am having an issue though, once I 'copy merge' and paste onto Illustrator, the 'embed' and 'edit original' are grey and my picture on Illustrator doesn't look like yours at 4:52. I don't get the X. Help! I don't know if my scale is wrong or if my image is too large. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
I am not sure but the Illustrator layer that contains your image may be locked once you paste it. Check your layers and make sure to unlock the pasted layer by clicking on the lock next to the layer name. Hope this helps!
If you only plan to get illustrator do you recommend getting a good scanner so you don't need it?? is it possible to get a good quality art work without putting it into photoshop?
Hi, Please can someone help! I have downloaded Adobe Illustrator. I have scanned a hand written note into my laptop (Windows) , and converted this to a SVG file. I have then tried to open this on BROTHER PE Design PLUS 2 software, however when i am trying to open the file it says 'unexpected file format' and i can not continue. I am trying to digitalise text to embroider on to items. Thanks in advance.
how do you paste when you move from photoshop to illustrtor do you just paste regular? Im not getting the same size as it was in photoshop and im not getting the big blue x either.
I press Ctrl + V, but you can also paste it from Edit > Paste. It should be the same size. Anyway, it doesn't really matter because you will be able to resize it without losing quality once you vectorize it. I have the X because the image was not embedded. It seems to automatically embed it in newer versions of PS/AI so you won't see that anymore.
Best tutorial out there! And you don't even need expensive tools, only a notebook and a computer. Thank you.
U are my new editing teacher 🥰

If you only plan to get illustrator do you recommend getting a good scanner so you don't need it?? is it possible to get a good quality art work without putting it into photoshop?
Yes, with a good scanner you can skip Photoshop. I usually save my scans as PDFs and open them directly in Illustrator.
good sister.. that resolved my damn day lmao
Can you use the same technique for drawings made in photoshop?
Yes, it works for all raster images.

Hi there :).... May I ask what version of Illustrator you are using please.
Hi! It's Illustrator CC.
Cristina / Elan Creative Co thank you for you quick reply - Cheers Pam
i hope you respond, even if this video is sorta old...
does this work with more complex images or no?
With a new Adobe illustrator 2024 software they've completely made it even more complicated I can't find any of the things you're talking about now.
or, buy a scanner
great video
