    About 20 years ago, my mom and I stopped at a restaurant for lunch. After our food was brought to us, we said a quiet prayer out loud to thank the Lord for the food. When we opened our eyes, 2 ladies stood at our table and thanked us for not being ashamed to pray out loud. They also said they knew how important it was to pray, and what we did gave them the courage to pray out loud in public, too. We felt blessed that we could be witnesses for God.

    What a BEAUTIFUL Message on PRAYER!! Prayer is the opening of the heart to God as to a friend...Prayer doesn't bring God down to us, but brings up to Him! Let the soul be drawn out & upward, that God may grant us a "breath of heavenly atmosphere"...Why should the sons & daughters of God be reluctant to pray, when prayer is the key in the hand of faith to unlock heaven's Storehouse, where are treasured the boundless resources of Omnipotence??

    I can make this perfectly clear SDA believe we are saved by grace but obeying the law to the best of our abilities should be part of our life as Christians. those who truly love Jesus will keep his commandments. if you know Saturday is the true sabath and is God's law but you continue to break this law so you can keep your man made day, or deliberately break any commandment are you not grieving away the holy Spirit which is the unpardenable sin. everyone is so worried about EGW but as she would say stop assuming and accusing and open your bible.
    keep up the good work pastor Batchelor you've led me to a closer relationship with Christ

    That's why Jesus came on earth, to make new laws. He said during the last supper that you should follow the golden rule which is love your neighbor as though yourself. Since Jesus came and died on earth, we have everlasting life if we beleive he died for us and that he is our god and savior. If we do the last supper amongst ourself is called cleansing sin. Hope this was helpful.

    Please read in correct order. Part 3:
    To illustrate how strange your question is...
    What if instead of using the Fourth commandment in your original question, we instead ask it with the Seventh commandment?:
    "Must an adulterer stop cheating on his wife to be saved and cannot be saved by grace alone?"
    Now with the second commandment:
    "Must a thief stop stealing to be saved and cannot be saved by grace alone?"
    Same with all other of the ten commandments.

      For us muslims when we pray we recite the quaran, this is always done. There is another way u can add into prayer is by naming gods attributes and ask him for forgivness for your sins. And if you want you can ask him for something you desire and prayer for others, for god to bless them and give them something.

    Please read in correct order. Part 2:
    Now,there is a BIG difference between man's "Inability" to fully comply with God's commandments and the direct defiance and "Unwillingness" to attempt to follow them.
    Without God's commandments, there is no sin. "For sin is the transgression of the law". "If you love me, follow my commandments". Without sin, there is no need of grace. It is man's inability to fully comply with the law that makes the grace of God through the sacrifice of Christ necessary.

    Can you tell us what EGW was teaching when she said:
    "In order to let Jesus into our hearts, we must stop sinning." - {Signs of the Times, March 3, 1890 par. 3}
    "To be redeemed means to cease from sin." Review & Herald, Sept. 25, 1900.
    " ... conversion is not completed until he attains to perfection of Christian character." Testimonies, Vol. 2, p. 505.

    If yes, the Bible says you are a LIAR with NO TRUTH in you,1John 1:8. And if no, then do you admit you continue sinning
    and continue being a sinner and continue breaking God's 10 Commandments? Yes or No?
    Can you be saved if you continue sinning and breaking God's 10 Commandments? Yes or No? If no, then are you lost today
    seeing you are a sinner? Yes or No?

    Please read in correct order. Part 1:
    While the "ill intention" of your question is quite obvious. I will try to clarify WHY the question makes no sense to SDA Christians.
    The question pre-supposes that SDA Christians believe in salvation through "Works" and not by "Grace".
    NO SDA believes that he/she can "Earn" their salvation by doing the works of the law. The law was put there to show our sinfulness and the INABILITY of man to comply with God's holy precepts. Therein comes GRACE...

  • @DesignInNature
    @DesignInNature 11 лет назад

    Part 4:
    You see?it's NOT your keeping of any of the commandments that will save you, but THE GRACE OF GOD ALONE through the atonement by Jesus Christ.However,I'm sure you understand that someone who WILLINGLY and KNOWINGLY breaks God's commandments without ANY regret or repentance is openly rejecting the sacrifice made for him at the cross. And NO.You do not EVER have to set foot in our church or change to our denomination to be saved. Only to repent and accept Christ as your Lord And Saviour.

    I'm not claiming ANYTHING. Those are the apostle pauls own ispired words LETTER BY LETTER. If you disagree with him too, I guess you will spit both on God's law AND on his own apostles as long as it serves your hateful purposes. He HIMSELF is the one that wrote that just because we are saved by grace and not by the works of the law, it doesn't mean we (As you have chosen to do) should start sinning on purpose. Grace is NOT a blank check to go back to your old life. You MUST be reborn! Familiar?

    The Bible could NOT be any Clearer. Without God's law, there would be NO SIN. Because of the law, we KNOW we have commited sin. NO MAN will be justified by the works of the law, but instead by FAITH that Christ's blood covers all our transgressions of the law (SINS). JUSTIFIED by faith, but SAVED by the GRACE of God! Should we break the law ON PURPOSE? "What shall we say then? shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid! How shall we who are dead to sin live any longer therein?".

    Part 1:
    How am I a liar? What part of my explanation was "according to you" the lie? Everything I have told you is what the Bible teaches. It is what I believe whith every fiber of my being.
    As for your question, it simply makes no sense. The Bible makes it clear that the mark of the beast is something every individual will either accept or reject for themselves. Now: does the Bible teach that people CAN receive the mark of the beast and STILL be saved by grace? What does the Word of God say?

    What does the title of this mean? "How did Jesus pray?" I don't understand the question. Is it asked because people usually pray to Jesus? Jesus was Jewish. So he would have prayed directly to God, no? Or am I reading too much into the title? I don't understand why this is even a question. Other religions pray directly to God, so why wouldn't Jesus? I'm sorry I haven't seen the whole video yet, it's in my favorites bc I want to watch it just don't have the time right this second.

    No my dear. The reason Sunday worship is linked to the roman "SUN" god, is because the unlawful change from Saturday to sunday worship was done BY the pagan roman authorities, in order to politically unify the population by mixing the "New" Christian faith with the gods whom the majority of roman cityzens already worshipped.
    The origin of the fourth commandment however, is in the earlier hebrew "SHABBATH" which God gave to his people and not the pagan god saturn.

    jesus and moses both prayed just the way muslims have always been praying, before sunrise, midday, evening, at sunset, they pray 5 times a day and tha is exactly what jesus did, pls guys you need to look into this. i have read versus from the bible and it seems to me the way we pray in church and how we are told to pray is nothing like how jesus prayed, after reading mathew 26:39 it was clear to me how we should be praying, just how muslims pray coz if read the bible that is how it tells us to pray in many versus. and also jesus did fast and so do muslims, i can't believe what i am hearing in this video and i have looked it up and it's all true, i am really having second thought about following christianity, it all seems like a big con, even the gospels contradict each other, nothing really makes any sense and at church they don't even answer my questions on the trinity as i made it clear to them that i think the trinty is just a load of BS, everytime i ask them anything they just tell me to believe it coz its in the bible, they never answer my questions

      Christians should always pray without ceasing, thanks for the heads up brother! True followers of Christ will fas and not just that, they will live a life according to God's Holy Word and the Holy Spirit will dwell inside their hearts to convict them of their sins.
      The word "trinity" is not in the Gospel and is a way that people try to understand the nature of God. But God is one and because He loved us from the beginning with a love that is beyond our understanding, He set forth a plan of redemption for us. You see if God was to come and save us in all His glory, then no man can stand, let alone live. God is Holy and because God knew that man would fall into sin, from the beginning He already made a plan.
      This is the amazing God that I serve, that even tho He knew that Ryan would fall into sin, that one day i would seek for Him. He already knew from the beginning to end, He is all knowing and all powerful to save. He is also all loving and although He knew that He would have to come into the flesh to die and to save us, to come down from His throne in heaven, still He said "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness" Genesis 1:26
      God is the only one who can give life and thus we cannot redeem ourselves and nothing we do would be enough. If He does not show us the right relationship with the Father, we would not abide in the Word, and He knows that we need the Holy Spirit and we can only receive it if we abide in Jesus. Jesus is the Resurrection and the Life.
      In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and he Word was God.
      The same was in the beginning with God.
      All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made.
      In Him was life; and the life was the light of men.
      And the light shineth in darkness; and darkness comprehend it not.
      - John 1:1-5
      Jesus said "Seek and you shall find" May the Lord of all creation reveal the wonderful truth in His Word, brother Mike. God bless you and keep you and your family.

    DesigninNature, How is it you Adventists believe only a Man died on the cross and not God?

    • @sidneya.dorsett860
      @sidneya.dorsett860 9 лет назад

      Tony Russo John 3:16 says "for God so loved the world that He gave His only Son ..." If the Father, Son and Holy Ghost make up the Godhead and the Son died how is it you tell me I believe a man died? Did Jesus have a human and divine nature? Is Jesus the second Adam? Did He fight Satan in his divine or human nature?

    • @tonyrusso1363
      @tonyrusso1363 9 лет назад

      Sidney Dorsett Perhaps I didn't write it clearly enough. Of course Jesus is BOTH God and Man. He was and is always God who took on the body of a human but that never changed the fact that He is God. However, when someone says to me that just before He breathe His last breath on the cross His Divine nature left Him, then that clearly means that only His human nature died. And of course some will respond, "Divinity cannot die." The Bible does not say that. Divinity is of such great power that God could die a human death and raise Himself back to life.John 10:18, "No man taketh it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have the power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of My Father." Jesus is God, He could die a human death and by His divine power raise Himself back to life. Therefore, Divinity IS life and a human death is nothing for Him to raise Himself back to life.
      If only His human life died but Divinity left His body, then only His a human died. This would present a theological problem of the salvation process. Here's another point of importance, Sidney. The New Testament declares in numerous places that when Jesus ascended back to heaven He immediately went directly into the Father's presence, Mark 16:19; Acts 2:33; Acts 7:55; Romans 8:34; Hebrews 10:12. Is it true that you do not believe Jesus ascended to His Father after His resurrection?

    • @sidneya.dorsett860
      @sidneya.dorsett860 9 лет назад

      Tony Russo I agree that divinity cannot die and it's impossible to kill God. Jesus came to prove one thing, namely that Adam in his sinless state could have successfully resisted Satan and Eve could have done so too.
      If it were otherwise there was no need for the incarnation. God could just have come down and died if it's important to you to have God die. He is ever present and there will never be a time when he was not in existence and that's the nature of divinity. He's self-existent, ever-existing and if not He's not divine.
      “When Christ was crucified, it was His human nature that died. Deity did not sink and die; that would have been impossible.”
      You also ask: "Is it true that you do not believe Jesus ascended to His Father after His resurrection?"
      I don't know why you ask that. One inspirational sermon I heard was by an old pastor describing the event and using Psalm 24:8, 9: "8 Who is the King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, The LORD mighty in battle. 9 Lift up your heads, O gates, And lift them up, O ancient doors, That the King of glory may come in! 10 Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, He is the King of glory. Selah." It was graphic. You could see the saints who arose from the tombs that were broken open at the crucifixion of Christ being heralded on their arrival by the guardian angels who'd been assigned to them in their lifetime.
      In the Desire of Ages, Ellen G. White observed that : "The time had come for Christ to ascend to His Father's throne. As a divine conqueror He was about to return with the trophies of victory to the heavenly courts. Before His death He had declared to His Father, "I have finished the work which Thou gavest Me to do." John 17:4.
      Those saints who were resurrected at the time of His crucifixion were those "trophies of victory" Ellen G. White mentions and I believe they made up the entourage as Jesus entered heaven showing the nail wounds in His feet and hands and the spear wound in his side and pointing to the saints returning with Him. They were the first-fruits of them that sleep. Where do you get this overly critical stuff?

    • @tonyrusso1363
      @tonyrusso1363 9 лет назад

      Sidney Dorsett My apologies. Obviously you are not SDA. They teach that Jesus did not go before His Father for 1800 years and that He was busy elsewhere. No need for harshness. We agree.

    • @sidneya.dorsett860
      @sidneya.dorsett860 9 лет назад

      Tony Russo Why should I believe that 1800 years misunderstanding on your part when you cannot give the name of the book or the page you got it from?
      You set new rules but you do not follow your own rules?
      Jesus never cited any chapter and verse when He was talking to Satan.
      I always thought Adventists believed what Ellen G. White wrote in Chapter 87 of "To My Father and Your Father," page 834 and showing that that 1800 years stuff is false.
      Ellen G. White says that when Jesus reached heaven the same Council in heaven to which Lucifer had accused God and Christ (I feel it's the one mentioned in Job 2:1 re "1 Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came among them to present himself before the LORD..."). Sister White said that the heavenly council was eager "to celebrate His triumph and glorify their King.” (Ibid page 834, Chap. 87 - "To My Father, and Your Father").
      In continuing her remarks she says that as the Council of heaven and the unfallen worlds and the heavenly hosts approach to pay homage "Jesus waves them back;" and I say, the same way he told Mary not to touch Him because, she says:
      "He waves them back. Not yet; He cannot now receive the coronet of glory and the royal robe. He enters into the presence of His Father. He points to His wounded head, the pierced side, the marred feet He lifts His hands, bearing the prints of the nails... He points to the tokens of His triumph; He presents to God the wave sheaf, those raised with Him as representatives of that great multitude who shall come forth from the grave at His second coming. He approaches the Father, with whom there is joy over one sinner that repents; who rejoices over one with singing.” (Ibid)"
      Everything in that indicates He went to God the Father first untouched by humans and untouched by any angel in heaven and it seems it was the same moment he arrived in heaven too. Where do you get this 1800 years stuff from?
      .

    Part 2:
    You see, the way your questions are formulated, makes you sound as if you REALLY want to find a "loop hole" in order to 'have your cake and eat it too'.
    Are we saved by the law? NO, we're saved by grace through faith that Christ's atonement will cover the penalty for our sins (Transgressions of God's law).
    Does that mean that "Grace" is a blank check to spit in God's law and purposely lie, steal, break the sabbath, kill, worship other gods etc...at will? ABSOLUTELY NOT!

  • @DesignInNature
    @DesignInNature 11 лет назад

    Part 3: The hebrew word "Hatat" which translates to "Sin", litterally means: "To miss the mark".
    What is that "Mark" we are suppossed to be aiming at? God's law!
    Can any man keep the law to perfection? NEVER! Christ and Christ ALONE did it to perfection! You and I and every other Christian must "aim" to keep the law with all your heart, and have faith that the blood of Christ will cover all of our shortcomings.
    What you suggest, however, is to IGNORE God's law and break it on purpose.

      Katrina Zeigler Would you agree that if Jesus was not divine at the time of His death that would cause a real shake up in Christianity? In her words, that divinity was not in Christ when He died.
      "When Christ was crucified in was His human nature that died. Deity did not sink and die, that would have been impossible.," (Letter #250, 1904. Review and Herald 1882 article, "The Upward Look."
      If only His humanity died, then the only death He died was the creation of His human body--100% human,
      Hebrews 10:5, " Therefore, when He came into the world, He said: 'Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, but a body You have prepared for Me." The words in this text are the words of Christ Himself. His human body was created. In and of itself would not be divine if it were not for God placing Himself in it.
      You will have to do some real theological footwork to get around this one. Unless, of course you rank her words higher than Scripture.
      Do you mind searching her writings and find out the various Bible texts she uses to defend this position? The only two groups I'm aware of that say only a creature died on the cross and not God Himself are the Jehovah Witnesses and the Mormons. I do find it slightly interesting that all three groups (including Adventists) were contemporaries in the 19th century.

    • @katquintz
      @katquintz 9 лет назад +1

      Thank you for providing that text. However, as I just did a quick google search and found the answer for you as you have taken that quote out of context. As all who have something against her do. Read for yourself.

    • @tonyrusso1363
      @tonyrusso1363 9 лет назад

      Katrina Zeigler I did read it. So how about this one?
      1. EGW: NO "The Deity did not sink
      under the agonizing torture of Calvary" (Letter: 1899, quoted in the
      Seventh-day Adventist Bible Commentary, vol. 5, page 1129).So which is it? Did Diety sink and die or not?
      2. "When Christ was crucified in was His human nature that died. Deity did not sink and die, that would have been impossible.," (Letter #250, 1904. Review and Herald 1882 article, "The Upward Look."
      How is this taken out of context? These both agree: Diety did not die. Often I have heard Adventist quote her that Divinity cannot die--is this also out of context with her teachings? I'm sure I can find that one again.
      3. Also on page 1129 of the commentary, she states that "Jesus was not the Lord God Almighty." Would you mind explaining this one to the Christian community? If God is One and He in the Lord God Almighty, how does this make Jesus less than the other Two members of the Godhead?
      And how do you explain Christ's own words in Revelation 1:8, "I am the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty."
      I appreciate a good study and respect you for defending your beliefs. This is where we need to be about our beliefs. We wouldn't be the first ones to give our heart to a particular view, then discover it wasn't true. Not an easy thing to take. You are an honest seeker. This is evident to me.
      I look forward to your response.

      I just ask that you say a quick prayer so that God will help you find the truth in Him and what is right. I don't know what you believe but I hope that you find the truth you are looking for. :)
      Again, you aren't reading it in context so I will paste that here for you.
      1. The man Christ Jesus was not the Lord God Almighty, yet Christ and the Father are one. The Deity did not sink under the agonizing torture of Calvary, yet it is nonetheless true that "God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Here we understand that she uses the word "Deity" to refer to God and the Holy Spirit. This also links to number 3 because you missed the first two words and the rest of that sentence. They are "THE MAN" and "YEST CHRIST AND THE FATHER ARE ONE." Here she is clearly saying that Jesus' is One with the Father but in His human form He was separated from the Father (Jesus would pray to the Father.) He is God's Son but He is also God. He is His Son because He was born from a woman who was come upon by the Holy Spirit (Luke 1:35). They were and are and always will be because Jesus has always been since the beginning (John 1:1, 14). I hope that actually reading this in complete context and not just picking and choosing what you want to read helps.
      And to address 2. God (Deity) cannot die. You can't kill Him or the Holy Spirit or the Son. However, you can kill flesh (People die all the time.) When Jesus died on the cross, He was paying our debt of the second death, right? (1 Timothy 2:5-6; Romans 3:23) Who dies the second death, the death that can never be restored or have eternal life afterward? Humans die that second death. However, through believing in Christ, we can avoid that second death and have eternal life. Jesus has paid that price so that we can have eternal life. (but don't think that all will avoid that death because there are those who refuse to believe in Jesus/ God or anything and are ultimately declining Jesus' payment.) So right, flesh can die and on the cross Jesus was not God. He was man. God was not with Him (Matt 27:46) because God cannot die the second death, the ultimate death that can never be resurrected.
      Haha. That looks like a lot to read. I love talking about this stuff and I enjoy speaking with you on this. The all-caps wasn't me yelling just quoting the rest of that sentence, just wanted it to stand out. :) But, I hope you find the truth and that you understand what I am trying to say.

    almetcalf, Adventists blast the Catholic church and the Protestant body in general by calling us the daughter of the harlot, the harlot being the Catholic Church. Revelation 17:5. Name bashing? Please step aside for Ellen White. No person bashes like she does in the Great Controversy.

    • @katquintz
      @katquintz 9 лет назад

      Tony Russo, is it name bashing or truth? Have you not googled "Seventh Day Adventist Church" before? I have seem some awful and horrible names on our church. We don't call Catholics and Protestants the things that I've read. And it is truth. If God says that there is a woman with that name in Revelation 17:5, and a woman represents a church (Jesus was marrying His bride, or His church) then who do you think that woman is? Have you had any correct history on the Catholic church? Have you read how they began? Have you studied their beliefs? From what I've read and studied, they don't teach much according to the Bible. One great example of how corrupt they've been/ are is look at the pope and where he lives, the Vatican. I have not seen that much gold in one place ever. It's very impressive. Now the pope may be a swell guy but he doesn't dress humbly. He has very impressive scarlet and purple robes (Rev 17:4). Why doesn't the pope sell all that gold and precious assets that they have to help those who are in need? You should be careful with what you are learning and believe. Some may not find the truth if they aren't willing to search for it.

      Katrina Zeigler I'm not bashing the Adventists average church goer. Your leadership has kept the members in darkness about some key issues. I know many SDA's who are very sincere in their belief and I think the world of them. Having said that, I'm concerned that they don't know some of the things about Ellen White because they think books like Desire of Ages, Great Controversy and Steps to Christ are all divinely inspired.
      Since you like book/document and page number and line of the page, here's one from the General Conference:
      "The Spirit of prophecy is a fundamental part of this message...Since the rise of this message, this denomination has believed in the Spirit of Prophecy. We have preached it as widely as we have the Sabbath and other kindred truths, and believe as thoroughly. To us it makes a vast difference whether one whom we have regarded from the rise of this message as being endowed with the prophetic gift is a prophet of God, or whether she is not." (General Conference Committee Statement, May 1906, pp.10,86). I'm sure it would not be difficult to get a copy of this from the GC Committee.
      One other statement is of real concern for anyone thinking of joining the Adventist Church. It comes from the then General Conference President at the time, G. A. Irwin in a tract he wrote entitled, The Mark of the Beast and page 1 of that tract:
      "It is from the standpoint of the light that has come through the Spirit of Prophecy that the question will be considered, believing as we do that the Spirit of Prophecy is the only infallible interpreter of Bible principles, since it is Christ through this agency giving the real meaning of His own words."
      Ellen White's writings are an "infallible interpretation of Bible principles?" Really?
      Incidentally I have done extensive study on the Catholic Church. I could also quote you, from their writings.

      Well, "infallible" means "to never fail" or "incapable of making mistakes".
      Amos 3:7; Numbers 12:6; Hebrews 1:1; 2 Pet 1:21; Matt 1:22
      Do I believe Ellen was a prophetess? Yes. Her words are infallible because the come from God Himself. They were inspired by the Holy Spirit.
      If you checked into her writings like journals and letters then you can read about her journey with God and how He spoke to her through dreams and by angels. She hides nothing about her experience from us. All her writings are online. If you research her with an open heart then you would see that God did speak through her, a woman who accepted His call at only 17.

      Katrina Zeigler You might also read Dr Kellogg's medical assessment of her's. She had her visions until she was forty years old. After that, there were no more visions. You might be interested D.M. Cantwright lived with them for a period of time. He wrote of first hand experiences of Ellen and James White. Uriah Smith, another contemporary of theirs. And many, many more.
      If you claim infallibility for her writings, placing them on the same level as Biblical prophets, you have made eternal decision. Remember what she once wrote, The attitude with which we come to the Scriptures determine what we get out of them.
      I'm truly sorry that you have that almost worshipful attitude toward her. I have known many Adventists who felt undying loyalty to her who found out for themselves the truth about her writings. I will pray that God will open your eyes about her.
      What interests me is how people get captured by the Sabbath teaching in your evangelistic meetings that becomes such a strong pull to believe in the Law and practice it. That teaching takes them right into the arms of Ellen White--then you are hooked.
      Nevertheless, you have taken your stand and I certainly will respect that.

      @katquintz 9 лет назад

      Thank you for your respect. :) I'm still learning a lot so it seems that I have that type of attitude toward her, but I haven't learned everything about her. But what I have learned. I feel that it is right and correct according to the Bible and what God would say. And the Sabbath has always been and always will be kept. God hallowed it after He finished His work with the earth and it will always remain.
