That whistle is really close to the actual sound of and C&O L class. C&O has some recordings from the 50s. It is very very close
@@robertpage8849 Some Had Hancock 3 Chime whistles (Like the one shown here), and others carried C&O 6 Chimes.

Plant Ysgol Y Bont you can’t get it on the iPad version. That stuff only comes off the download station and it really sucks. I suggest buying either Trainz a new era or Trainz 2019

I have saw the one that survived. C&O 490 at the B&O Railroad Museum. I visited the Museum in April 2019. It's in Baltimore, Maryland, and it's a great train museum.
You guys do such a great job with these Streamliners. You should totally do Lehigh Valley Railroad's 4-6-2 K5B with the Black Diamond Passenger Train. I think you guys would do a great job with that beauty.

Yea but non of the 3985 and 4014 models are really great.
How it works is that you have to pay steve a decent amount of capital (commission) to get a project completed by him. Some projects are listed on the project page (like the 261 and the c&o L-1) and some are not (like the UP MK special and the Gainesville midland 208 and 209
Of all the K&L locomotives, this is the one I am most excited to buy/download. Beautiful class of locomotive too.

Unfortunate how few of the streamlined steamers were saved. If my memory is correct 611, 4449, 4460, 490 and 1-2 others are the only ones still in existence (with 611 and 4449 being the only two operating).

this is yet another amazing video you've made since i've seen the 490 on the project list i've become more interested in it (i've seen many people say they wish they would retore it to operation condition but i'm not sure if it's possible or not) i also think this engine needs another model made buy lionel and mth (i think it's now become my favorite c&o engine)

Gonna have to do some research on these engines. Never was quite sure i they were equipped with Stephenson's valve gear or poppet valves. Looks awesome though!
EDIT: It's Franklin Poppet valves. Another catch 22 experiment for the C&O.
Franklin Type A Poppet Valves. From the outside it looks like stephenson because of the lack of numerous rods, but on the inside, there is an array of valves and cranks, all of which are modeled on my engine, although a little hard to see in the shadows.

The Same Thing With The PRR T1s. They Got The Franklin Type A Poppet Valves. But The New T1 Which Is Being Built Has Got Franklin Type B Poppet Valves For Modern Improvements
imo, i think people are going to hate me for this, but the C&O L1 Hudson, just isn't my streamlined type.

Southern Railway yep. It technically ran one test train and that was it. The L-1 never pulled the cars though in that scheme.

Where is the valve gear?
No Baker or Walcharts outside frame valve gear. Otherwise excellent vid
The C&O L1 class had Franklin Type A Poppet Valves, which excluded all of the other outside rods and linkage you'd see with Baker and Walcharts. That's why it seems like it's missing a bunch of rods and linkage.
