Hello, Iam a 74 years old grany, I got a 61 keys keyboard for Christmas and starting to learn to play with your videos, I practice nearly every day, and just starting to understand as you say, this new wanderful language, this new video is very helpful for begginers like me, if I get better at playing, and I know I will take a long time, I may invest in a 88 keys piano, and maybe one of my grandchildren will use it in the future. Thank you for your help, all your videos are interesting and easy to understand 🙏🙏

Very good of you to post a video aimed at true beginners. I know from prior experience that are not enough of these on RUclips, especially delivered in such a succinct and easy to digest way. Getting a beginner playing a chord progression right away will give them so much motivation. Great job.

I took piano lessons as a teenager and decided to play again after being away from the piano for 45 years! I am taking lessons over Zoom, but I was also looking for tips and tricks I used when younger. I love your videos as they are short and to the point. It seems that they would apply to players at many different levels. I'm watching your videos from the beginning and finding them extremely helpful. Thank you for sharing your enthusiasm and dedication.

Mr jazer I don't know any thing about piano so I bought a keyboard. Always hard this passion inside of me to play the piano but because poor financial background never had the opportunity. So I started looking at videos on RUclips there was a video connecting drawings of people with notes from C-B and leaned them quickly. I then found your videos which is now teaching me much more thank you

Thank you Jazer for these lessons. Not only do you pass on your experiences and lessons to us beginners but you take your time and repeat it so we get it. Most piano tutors don’t do that. My daughter is a rock singer and performs many times per week, so she replaced her older Yamaha full keyboard cause 3 of the highest keys no longer play. But it's GREAT for me cause I don't use the right end of the keyboard anyway. She gave me the Yamaha and I practice til my fingers ache, then stop for a while. But am irresistibly drawn to practicing at all times of the day. So glad to find Jazer. Isn't You-Tube GREAT for music lovers? Well, I have taken my first steps using this video and I was so excited once I got this four chord part down. I'm happy I found your channel and that you are putting out videos like this for newbies like me. I have one question. I have an absolute HORRIBLE time trying to keep all of my fingers grounded on the keyboard. Are there any tips or techniques you can suggest to help fix this other then sure willpower? Thank you and keep up the good work. You have a subscriber in me!

Hi Misfit7021! I know that feeling when I first started learning the piano. It does take some skill, a lot of practice and you said it, willpower, to keep the fingers in the correct position on the keyboard. Notice I didn't say above. The hands must be slightly cupped with your fingers slightly resting on the surface of the keys. I have some videos on fingering, finger exercises and proper techniques. Do check them out on this channel. 🤓

I have to keep my left 2 finger tucked away from the board or i tend to hit the B instead of the C with my thumb.

    Hi Jazer!
I'm glad you ask if we wanted more clarification, because I have a doubt =)
Why is that chord an Am? As far as I learnt here on RUclips (I'm an absolute beginner) the difference between Major and Minor chords is: Major - Note-4-3, and Minor is Note-3-4. That should mean than the first and the last note are the same. So my question is why is that called an Am chord and not an A since both only have 2 notes and not the 3, the middle note which would make the difference between major and minor.
I'm not sure if I explained myself properly, and I'm sure I'm missing something since I'm an ignorant on this matter =D
Anyway, if you could answer me I would be delighted!
PS: I really love your videos, keep on inspiring us all =)

It is because his description of chords is incomplete. Chords by definition have three notes, and without the middle note of the chord, you can’t tell if the chord is major or minor. To truly understand the difference between major and minor chords, you need to start with understanding scales, or at least the first 5 notes of Major and minor scales. I would recommend following up your RUclips exploration by studying one-on-one with a teacher, either in person or online 🙂

Splendid explanation Mr.J lee, with the help of hearing knowledge, I started piano learning for just three months and as per my teacher’s advice I just started playing grade 2 pieces . No difficulties in reading notes but problem in identifying the notes without seeing the keys. Please advise me how to train my fingers so that I can play without seeing the respective keys most of the time . I am just 62years old.

Hello Prabakan, my advice is to take a small portion of the sheet music and practice that over and over again until you perform this flawlessly (no errors!). You will build not only finger adeptness but also muscle memory. Once you start playing without looking at the keys, you will be able to do so quite easily. 🤓
