@@yv3652Overall, they do a good job for new viewers, so you can watch this and learn everything you'd need for the plot without having seen the anime. That said, there are moments where it's fun (the ending especially) if you know the anime
@@yv3652The anime is really good. I would definitely recommend it if you like the Netflix adoption. It adds a different story to the univers and is not just a copy. I wish more anime adoptions would do this and not just make a live action copy of the same story.
Thanks Chris. Looks like total fun. Once again I appreciate you taking the time top examine the positive and negative aspects and keep everything in balance. Well done as always. You are now, actually, my only critic that I listen to now!
this guy surely do not read Japanese manga (comic). This manga has over 30 years old. This TV is an adaptation of that comic, but telling the story happened in Korea. The opening message is exact coping from manga, and the last person appeared in the conference is the main character of that manga. He is also a hybrid with Parasyte (but in his right arm). Everyone should read manga or the animation of it for more understanding. The original story has much more profound meaning. I love this new Parasyte, like character design, also different but reason on story. I am waiting for the 2nd season.
It's clearly not the same story from the anime/manga but im still looking forward to watching i wonder if being a different story has to do with Korea doing the live action show when it's originally a Japanese story
Please review the anime TV shows: Parasyte: The Maxim, Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex and Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd Gig, and Cowboy Bebop.
The show is great and I think it is genius to make an anime adaptation but parallel to the story in a different country. Not only they capture the essence of the anime, they add a new story to the universe and no one can complain that they are to close or to far away from the original. More anime adaptations should be like this.
I assumed this series would be a bootleg, poorly adapted version of the anime. Although this series has many flaws, especially in certain scenarios, I am pleased to say that I enjoyed the story and was deeply invested in every episode. There are numerous scenes that will make you giggle and roll your eyes, but in an endearing way. This is a delightfully bad series. I believe the narrative could have been crafted more skillfully. Some parts are puzzling, making you wonder why certain decisions were made when better alternatives seemed available. At times, the characters make illogical and nonsensical decisions that neither aid the situation nor alter the outcome. Despite these shortcomings, the story was coherent enough for me and worth watching. Revisiting the concern I mentioned earlier; I feared this would be a subpar adaptation of the anime, but I am thrilled to report that the series’ conclusion unveils something extraordinary that I believe every anime enthusiast will appreciate. If I were to rate this series, it would receive an 8/10. I genuinely enjoyed it, flaws and all. In my view, it’s a wonderfully bad series, and I am eagerly anticipating the hinted sequel. Please watch the series to the end; you’re in for a surprise!
@Rnerdy197 I do not watch trailers ever. That being said I assumed it wasn't "the same story" as it is called the Grey and the show wasn't. That doesn't mean it can't do the original justice....
At first i didn't like the female cop felt out of place but when i saw the super market scene i got chills and she was perfect for the role 🔥🔥🔥 this is how a female characters should be treated Hollywood should learn
Chris, I don't know if you watch Anime at all, but the original series is super fun. It feels more like a Spider Man / Body horror type of series. It's one series, beginning and end. That said, great review! Keep up the great work!
I liked the series, but it could've been done with a little less exposition. Sometimes stuff that the audience already knows is explained again by a character.
Thanks but I dunno Chris, I watched half of the 1st ep and hasn't really grabbed me for some reason, eh. Will keep going & see if it picks up (poor dubbing prob didn't help). I also got distracted by final ep of Invincible, which was epic of course! :) Recent sci-fi horrors...I don't like horror as you know, so not many unless you count Constellation or The Silent Sea, which I went back to finish this week (only up to ep 5). If you or anyone can recommend any others that are not too heavy on the horror, happy to give them a try (with the lights on! ;).
This one let me down. None of it made sense and there was very little urgency, and no characters that I really cared about. I know nothing about the anime, but I should not need to in order to be engaged, and I wasn't. I love the newer "One Piece" and never saw the Anime, so I find this show to be a swing and a miss for me. Luckily, the "One Couch" I give it is enough for me to fall asleep on while watching the show.
It’s the invasion but what’s happening in Korea. They take place in the same world, just the events of what’s happening in Korea instead of Japan. It’s not really an adaptation but more of a spinoff/own story. Parasyte the Maximum is canon to the series.
I'm on eps 2 and decided to drop it. It's frustrating to see up until this point the mc does not show any semblance of personality or goal, she is so passive just constantly getting pushed into situation by other characters. She can't even communicate properly with her parasite. All she does is getting scared, run, and let the parasite do the job. Like how tf is she any different from a regular parasite? What a wasted potential, we could've explored the parasites side more with a full parasite mc character instead doing another "shinichi but in in face instead of hand"
I don’t know what the hell happens but I wish they wouldn’t just adapted the anime. I’m tired of the gender swap game. Sure the cop pit is that this is a different story but why tell a different story when fans want the story they read from the anime?!
Nah its actually cool. I actually appreciate netflix that they didnt stay on original anime. Something new and actually fun to watch + migi will prolly be in season 2.
Please don’t speak for all fans. That’s just what you want. Parasyte the Maximum already got movie adaptations. So no that’s not what I wanted again. This is something new, set in the same world in a different country. It’s not a gender swap, the story is completely different with similar themes of the anime/manga. I enjoyed that it was something different.
The cameo in the ending is insane if you loved the anime. Literally got goosebumps
The ending got me geeking out as a fan of the original anime 😅
It took me a while to remember the name of Mc of the anime.
Im freaking jump 😂
I literally SCREAMED 😂
Yeah I yelled MIGI!!!!
Yes !!I was hoping we would see him I was not disappointed
Just finished binging S1 and love the ending :) It is entertaining and good pacing. Looking forward to S2.
I’m a big fan of the anime and I know this is a different story that takes place in Korea, but I’m looking forward to watching it.
The ending blew my mind like WOAH!!!! Being a fan of the anime pays off.
Do I need to watch the anime to enjoy it more?

He said he went into the series with no info
It's actually a sequel happening in Korea, not an adaptation. The OG Japanese people come in at the end
It really is a ton of fun with some great FX. Great review!

The ending tho. You have to watch it for the cameo
No, the ending confirms that it is a canon spinoff (or sequel) to the original story,
but it is happening in Korea. That's why the story is different.
@@Submission_Fighter yeah I know it's canon
I haven’t read the manga, but this show hooked me from the first episode.
I really am hoping for a season 2…🙏🏻.
I just finished S1 and thought it was a solid follow up to the live action manga/anime movie . I really hope it gets a S2 🤞 . Also solid review 👍

Meme of man standing up: “Peninsula” was good actually.
Long live Migi (ミギー)
I am gonna watch this right before I go to bed and see what happens. It sounds fun.
This new series sounds intriguing. And I really enjoyed Hellbound overall although... It has some minor flaws regardlng the story.

Dose it have brostep soundtracks though?!

Yes, it is the same timeline but in a different country. So, it is a parallel story to the manga and anime.
