@@tomilevar The main criteria for winning the Ballond’Or should not just be based upon team trophies and how many goals you’ve scored. It’s a shame that many people these days rarely watch the full 90 mins of a game, rather, they just look at the scoresheet or 2min highlights after a game and determine which player is the best. There is much more to football

Diego Forlan won the golden ball at the WC, so hard to give it to any of those based on just the WC. However, considering the Barcelona performance that year Xavi and Iniesta were deserving.

In my opinion, neither Messi or Haaland should've won it. People say Messi deserved it because of his amazing World Cup performance, others say Haaland deserve it because he won the treble with Man City and was top goal scorer. However, Julian Alvarez won the World Cup with Argentina and won the treble with Man City. Alvarez should've at least gotten the top 4.

Darwin Nunez bangs in 30+ goals for ManCity by April. Haaland is a great finisher but the day a guy who only influeneces game by being in right space right time to tap in wins BdO would mean that we have no great footballers around. For me, football is entertainment and I get much more pleasure wafching Messis, Silvas, De Bruynes - players that get you off your seats and help Haalands thrive. In this regard, Mbappe is also amazing.

What Messi did leading his nation team in the World Cup to glory hasn't been seen since 1986 and really deserves it.
The issue most people don't understand is the World Cup was played at the end of 2022 instead of 2022 summer. If the World Cup would have been played in July/August 2022 Messi would've been ballon d'or 2022 instead of Benzema and Haaland would have been 2023 winner.
