Immersion Mining manual: How to prepare ASIC miner for the immersion cooling?

  • Many people ask about the preparation of the ASIC miner for immersion cooling. And many believe this is a complicated process. The truth is that not complicated at all. Even used, dusted air-cooled miners require just a little bit of cleaning.
    We show 5 simple steps for proper preparation of ASIC miner:
    1) remove the fans, covers, panels from ASIC miner and PSU if needed
    2) remove dust with compressed air.
    3) clean each of the hash boards and housing with isopropyl alcohol. Use soft, long-hair brush for the hash boards. Housing can be cleaned also using an ultrasonic cleaner.
    4) repeat the process until miner components pass the white glove test.
    5) assemble everything and use fan spoofers or immersion firmware
    Done! You are ready for the immersion cooling! New miners require just retrofitting as described in 1) and some compressed air.
    If you have the option you can immerse the miners finally in a larger container full of IPA and shake it to remove all final residues. Please remember about health and safety when working with IPA. You need good ventilation, we advise respiratory protection when working with evaporating alcohol and make sure there is no open fire around.

    Thanks for the video. Did you do also a video for GPU immersion?
    On a comment you say that some parts (pads) have to be replaced, could you give more information of the reason, and which pad should be use instead?
    I have read that many parts of GPU will be destroyed on a long term immersion, in mineral oil... (plastic parts)

    Hello,
    Did this immersion cooling work with Goldshell CK5 miner?
    In a coment you said that thermal paste need to be remove and replace by foil... On goldshell Miner (CK5, KD5...) They use only thermal paste (on heatsink...).
    I have order an enclosure and precise before my order it is for goldshell CK5 miner and your commercial service says that is ok, it is a plug and play system.
    I don't want to break my miner please, in many forum it say thermal paste is not working on immersion cooling, answer me back if it is OK for my CK5 miner.
    And nice video thank you. Hope to get more guide soon.

    Just one question , I currently use fan blowers , to siphon heat away from the room, will this setup reduce the room heat ? Or do i need to spoof it away ?

    • @DCXLiquidImmersionCooling
      @DCXLiquidImmersionCooling  3 года назад +1

      95% of the heat will be distributed by the means of liquid transfer from the enclosure to the dry cooler. However, some of the heat will be radiated to the room. That depends on the room temperature. But of course, there will be a huge difference - significantly less heat than currently moved by air.

    • @Arek_R.
      @Arek_R. 2 года назад

      At the last step you always should use 99% IPA.
      Before, you can even wash it in the sink with tap water and dishsoap...
      You just never can leave it with water on it and let it dry, it will corode and/or some minerals from water might cause a short.

      Dielectric fluid is not a cleaner that will dissolve residue, corrosion, dust, contamination. Ultra clean dielectric fluid - no point to waste it - alcohol IPA cleans well (we can use more expensive dielectric solvent but IPA is just fine), and can be filtered multiple time so we don't waste the fluid in the long run.

    • @DCXLiquidImmersionCooling
      @DCXLiquidImmersionCooling  3 года назад

      Not really, you can down power the miners. But people buy it to overclock the miners by 50-80%, eliminate the noise (see another vid) remove the problems with corrosion, dust, overheat, corrosion, fire risk, continuous repairs. But to run the operation you may require AC unit which takes power, you need fans to remove hot air - so we eliminate that. System requires 180W per 40kW of heat transfer as only pump takes power. water is not good for cleaining it

    • @Arek_R.
      @Arek_R. 2 года назад

      Sometimes water is used alongside some soap to better get rid of the dust, but right after that you must use IPA to dissolve water remains into IPA, IPA then evaporates quickly, leaves no residue and doesn't cause any corrosion.
      Though most use IPA by itself.
