Try to get to Dr. Sutter if you can, he has helped my wife GREATLY !!!!!, start with a phone consult if need be !!!!, he will tell you if he thinks he can help.......
The answer is it depends on the skeletal relationship prior to wearing the appliance. In most cases (90%) the answer is yes. You just have to stop wearing it prior to DTR. The best way to get a specific answer to this question is to call the office and schedule a phone conference. Deb or Trinity can guide you through that.
Wow, I've described my pain that same way for a yr and a half now! My head/jaw is in a vice just crushing.

Hi Dr Sutter. Is DTR an option for someone who has been wearing a repositioning splint at night?

dr sutter - am I still a candidate for DTR if I have an anterior open bite? not huge but definitely there.
No. DTR requires Anterior Guidance. Do braces on to close down the bite then do DTR
