My dad was a cash man too. He was so proud to pull out cash to pay for something. He had no debt when he died. He never made more than 40k a year, but he raised a family, bought and paid for a house by the time I was out of high-school and ended up saving a quarter of a million dollars in the bank when he died at 63. Cash is still king.

My parents have always taught me to tip. I have always tipped waiters, mini bar guy and house keeping. Italian Canadian girl here. You get way better service and they appreciate it so much. No better feeling than making someone’s day and thanking them for their work and hospitality.
I lived off tips for about a decade of my life. So….I absolutely understand the importance of tipping! I can’t believe it when I meet ppl who don’t get it, or don’t care 🤷🏻♀️

I am 80 years old and when going to dinner with my family I always have at least 200 in cash. most of the time my kid's pay bit I always leave a cash tip! Loved the Cast! You two are GREAT!
I’d rather save the money and spend it on time at the house vs some ignorant infested restaurant. Presence over presents
I always try to tidy up the room (use trash can, put towels in a pile, etc,) . I used to clean houses as a nanny. I know what it's like having an aching back. Very nice of you, Sebastian. Most people would appreciate that tip. How you treat the little guy shows your true nature.
For the room tip, just lay the remote on top of it. That makes it clear it's a tip :D
I pay cash for dinner too. I want service industry staff that take their job seriously to be rewarded by keeping their tip. They earned it.
My son Nicholaus tipped a waitress in Dennys $500.00 at Christmas because she said she didn't know how she was going to get her kids Christmas presents and we were living i a hotel. ❤

My parents always paid cash for everything! There is a restaurant that I love, old school Italian place, that ONLY accepts cash. And if you don't have cash, they send you a bill and you can mail in your payment!!

If u pay with a card your giving less money than the bill. It’s usually a 3-5% cost to the business to accept your charge. So whenever possible pay cash. Especially to servers. If they have to wait for their tips the business already took the charge cost out of their earnings. Even if I use a card, I always pay the server cash.

respectfully disagree Pete, Top Gun Maverick was amazing. Last 30min almost melted my face off. Was it improbable? Sure. Cheesy? Sure. But c'mon man, the last 30min was incredible.
Famous Sinatra tipping story. He asked the waiter at Patsy’s what was his biggest tip ever. The guy said 100 bucks. Sinatra gave him $200 and asked him “who was the cheap bastard that gave you the hundred”. The waiter said “it was you Mr. Sinatra”. Probably not true but a great story nonetheless!

Record the stories. There's no work for you since you don't have to write them down. Even if you never publish, you will have awesome memories recorded. Guaranteed you will have tears in your eyes when you hear their sweet baby voices years from now. And the grandkids will get a kick out of hearing their parents voices back when they were children.
Sebastian, I had a story I told my children for several years at bedtime. My girls ask me to write them down and make a book, and I so wish I had written them down. I didn’t write them down because I was the working mom of two small children and I was ready to tap out by the end of the night. Years later I tried to write the adventures of the stories down and I couldn’t. The story magic was gone. Write those stories down. Your children or grandchildren will treasure them when they are adults
My Dad would half fold 1,500 in a money clip (100s/50s). Hearing the snap on my Dad's money clip when he pulled the bills out is permanently drilled in my head. 🤣

Pete, sounds like your daughter is having panic attacks. The same thing would happen to me as a kid, especially in enclosed places and my parents didn’t know what the hell was going on with me either. It really does feel like you’re dying but a little iced water to the face would probably help, that is if you can get ahold of some at the movies!

Pete is correct in stating that labeling a tip a tip is a super smart idea! I am a super honest & respectful person towards other people's property so if I was a housekeeper, I'd be afraid you were testing me and therefore would not take the money.

I worked for a popular restaurant chain that did that everyone shares the tips thing. Back in 1998, they'd split it up between hostesses, busboys, waiters & waitresses, etc & give you an envelope with cash at the end of each night. If we were caught putting any cash tips in our pockets & not in the tip jar, we'd be fired on the spot. Not sure if they do that nowadays... but that might be why the waiter didn't want to take half of your cash tip & get the rest on his paycheck. He may have been in fear of losing his job.🤷🏻♀️

Your children’s stories do sound outstanding. Nothing wrong with publishing those to share with other kids. It’s not about monetizing, it’s just about doing things well and being generous enough to share it with others. Hope you publish your children stories with us. Pete is right about this.

My hairstylist (in a small PA college town) only takes cash. Luckily my ATM is two blocks away. I never carry cash.
I always tip housekeeping good. Funny how I get the extra towels, coffee, tea, shampoo, bodywash etc. My linen closet at home is a sea of white with Hilton tags.
I've gotten the thank you notes from the staff. One time I got a packet of perennial seeds with a note about sowing the seeds of friendship. I don't wanna be friends just make my bed and clean my bathroom

No note needed on the hotel tip. Just fold the bill and put it partially tucked under the notepad or remote on the nightstand so it looks purposeful

Sadie has panic attacks. Happens to me too out of nowhere.
Sadie may well, with her dad’s AD/H/D genetics, have Panic Attacks ; but in this instance I’d put money on the additives in the blue slushy-which many are highly sensitive to. Those chemicals are NASTY, and should be outlawed !
