    Dear Mr Zinzan,
    How you build these types of models is beyond me. The room starts spinning soon as I stare at the directions! You’re truly a talented builder. Best regards

      My lady,
      Your comments are too kind and I don’t deserve them! The sheets look complex, can be unscrambled quite quickly and a lady of your undoubted talents should be able to do so in a trice, or even a jiffy!!
      Thanks for getting in touch- your own projects look to be moving along quite nicely and your sub count is raving along!! I’m sure you’ll be at 1k before you know it…

    I see these every now and then on ebay for silly money, I love the box art SO much but when the border models kit is infinitely better for less, I can never let myself pull the trigger on one of these. Great review thank you!

      Dear Mr Skyline,
      Thanks for getting in touch! I just took a look at ebay to find out and I see what you mean. There seems to be a current D-9 on the H website but that used an inline engine rather than a radial. I am pleased that you came along to take a look and also grateful for your kind words- it will be good to hear from you again as we trog through the project!

    I have a 1/32 scale Hasegawa FW-190D9...and am waffling between the "rivet" decals and using Rosey the Riveter. I'll be watching to see how your's goes. Thanks for a nice review. (I also had a Hasegawa 1/32 FW-190A...but when Zoukie Mora came out with theirs this year I've pre-ordered it

      Dear Kent,
      Thanks for getting in touch! I think the "gen buzz" is that one has to be careful when painting as the detail is liable to be lost, but whatever happens, I will be documenting the progress!!

    Zin, An excellent review, particularly the little extra technical details you described (e.g., the tail wheel extension / retraction mechanism). I'm looking forward to your build of this kit, and, as my knowledge of WW2 German aircraft technicalities is non-existent, I'm hoping to learn from you as you do your research and share that information with us (but, as we say, "No pressure" 🙂).

      Dear Tron,
      Thanks for your message- the history of this aircraft is quite interesting. Kurt Tank was apparently an electrical engineer and used amps therefore wherever he could!

    Thanks for the review. FYI, you can't see the engine from the undercarriage. You can, however, see it on a D9 variant. It's interesting that the new tooling has far less detail than the previous kit. Although there are elements in this kit that make an easier build. I have to say that on this scale, the absence of rivets is unforgivable.

    • @ZinzanModelling
      @ZinzanModelling  Год назад +1

      Dear Mr Rio,
      Thanks for getting in touch- the rivet question is a perennial issue and seems to generate a lot of opinions! I have what I believe might be a solution, but I have never used it before. Hopefully it will be a good solution, but it does remain to be seen.
      As regards the engine, you are correct about the cylinders, distributor and final drive etc, (the front half so to speak), but the exhaust manifolds, fuel pump, electrical gear and bearers etc can, (it would appear), be seen from the forward part of the U/C bay. It is possible that the display from which I obtained my reference material may have removed a bulkhead panel to allow sight of these areas- I don't know. I note that it is also possible to see the fuselage mounted machine guns past the cockpit bulkhead. I mention this is in my review as Hasgawa only cast the front section of the engine which I found odd. Still, there it is- we have to work with what we are given!
      I hope you won't mind my somewhat lengthy response- I believe that if you take the time to get in touch, then I should respond in a like manner.
      Regards,
      Z

    in 2005 I thought it was a brilliant kit and so much better than the older Hasegawa kit. But as time went by I found so many shortcomings on this Kit... Yes Fuselage and Wings are excellent in shape but thats about it. Propblades to wide, spinner way to small in diameter, Landing gear undersized in thickness and covers stop short of wings. Canopy is only the closed buildable. V angle of main spar way to shallow. Tailwheel solid cast, ailerons and elevators are not showing any typical pattern, Cockpit is more suitable for a D-9. Seat is completely out of shape compared to the original aso.. Revell did an excellent job on their F-8 for much lesser money with a few minor things. Sorry to dampen the mood but I think the Guys did a much better job on the first 190 kit in the 70s even with all their shortcomings . Love the artwork as its one of the best Ive ever seen.

      Dear Danny,
      Opinions abound on the accuracy of almost any scale model one can think of- I suspect this one is no different!
      There are elements that don’t quite meet some expectations- the missing throttle lever was one for me, but since such things can be scratch built I’m not too concerned.
      In terms of your more general points on oleos and propeller blades etc, I feel that one has to accept a degree of compromise in such things. The kit was made in 2005 and my own view is that one might not want to view a product that is nearly 20 years old through an up to date lens- things have improved since then.
      My conclusion would be that many of the points you bring up could be dealt with through scratch building and modification- the canopy is a particular one which is simply dealt with (do look at my TSR2 series for details), and so it is essentially down to the individual modeller how he chooses to deal with the limitations he faces.
      I appreciate your detailed message and thank you for getting in touch- I hope you tune in again in the future!
      Regards,
      Z

      @@ZinzanModelling Hei Zin,
      Thanks for the feedback. My post was more factbased than an opinion. ;) As I wrote for the modeller after an accurat model it is nowadays the lesser choice. I really dont see the reason for the high prices generated on certain platforms but as I also wrote it is a good base but all the shortcoming needed to be aware of if spending that much money 😁 And I have gone through them 😆

    • @ZinzanModelling
      @ZinzanModelling  11 месяцев назад

      Dear Danny,
      I see that some older models seem to attract high prices- I didn’t pay so much for this example, so it wasn’t an issue!
      Cost is a subjective point- I rather suspect that some would not have paid the price I won this example for, but there was more at stake owing to the cause I was donating to.
      Anyway, it’s good catching up- do feel free to look in as I’ll always be happy to hear from you!
