David Mitchell I mean if you want clean and classy that's good but me personally I'd rather live life on the edge doors that go up and crazy edgy designs lambos for life respects to ferrari but lambo will still get em on track and I feel like ferrari is less friendly and inviting than lambo as well as they disconnected from their history unlike lambo
I feel like there's a lack of intensity on this video... just look at the F12 review. I love the Chris that show us all his passion for cars. Not just a technical review. Hope you are not tired of your job... because you're the best
Fire Blade the f12 is definitely an improvement from the 599 but the 812 is on the same level I think ,I don't think it's possible to make it look better at this point just different variations
I love in this particular clip how nice the editing is and how smooth the frames between shots are, i love the evolution of their editing. Chris Harris is cool, but no one can match the level of coolness that the three musketeers of the OG top gear gave us.
Sorry to say, but the F12 looks much better design wise than the 812. That's what happens when Pininfarina doesn't stroke their pen. Same thing goes with the 488. The 458 is beyond beautiful compared to the mess that the 488 is in comparison.
Soren Lausen I personally find the 812 and 488 look much more refined and better than their predecessors. If I did own any of the predecessors I would upgrade to the new models as soon as they released.
Soren Lausen o agree with you on the design of the 812. However I personally like the wau the 488 looks. It seems more elegant. The 458 seems like a more fun an extreme car.
I agree completely. Recently, every time Ferrari updates their cars, they mess up with the design. The F12 is beyond beaultiful compared to the 812. Same goes to the 488.
Loque You have a good eye. It looks A LOT better in yellow. The best colour for a car is dictated by it's shapes and curves. Yellow brings out those curves and lines better.
jdslfc Because it has a quad exhaust each individual tip is half the size they would be if it had a dual exhaust. So it wouldn't be visually pleasing to see 4 tiny exhaust tips. Corvette does the same thing, they flare the quad tips out to make them look bigger.
the exhaust moves around under load thus the tip can not be secured. they need to vibrate independently else the while chassis will transmit the vibration and rattle.
Great car, tested by the "Real Chris Harris",not the quirky clown someone at Top Gear TV seems intent on making Chris appear. One really cool car tested by a really cool petrol junkie!
The rear styling is an improvement over the F12, but I prefer the F12's front styling. Love it in any case, the front engine V12s are always my favorite Ferraris.
Most honourable replacements for the legendary Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond would be Chris Harris, Tiff Needell and Sabine Schmitz. Honestly..
That looks absolutely stunning, in my eyes. If I could ever afford a Ferrari, it would definitely be a front engined one, GT style. Best of both worlds, IMO.
Mahmoud Salah I think real life does it justice more! Most cars I find look much much better in real life than in videos. I thought Porsche's looked like goofs, until I went to the dealership and fell in love with them ever since.
problem is, if it was out of this world good, it becomes controversial, which doesnt sit well with the explosion of first generation (and 2nd gen and even third gen these days) rich Chinese people, whom buy Ferrraris like its groceries. i agree with you still. Just wont be realistic for any brand. Chinese have become a very large part of high end product consumer base of any kind, whether it be cars, or high end fashion, which is kind of why we see a shift in design in all of those things (or rather than change you could also say lack of change? regardless of what is done, the thought of appealing to the Chinese is definitely on their mind)
yeah, truly inspirational car design ended in the 60s really. Cars from that era are works of art compared to today's cars, which are admittedly dynamically far superior
Mamo Enzo lived in Modena, MEF in Modena is his house (the one he sold to race and bought again, house plus officine) + museum, Fiorano (built in 1972) is the test track with offices and Maranello is the factory plus museum.
With all respect Chris Harris is a perfect deal for BBC at the moment but its not the suitable replacement for Jeremy Clarkson , Trust me Jeremy is a way far than being only an automotive journalist ! in my opinion he is iconic star in automotive industry reviews.
Different class. As of the revamped top gear in 2002, JC already own his own talkshow not to mention various motoring columns in papers and magz. While chris harris a mere youtuber. Since chris is a plebs, he might connect easier with youtube commenters here. While JC, his subtle comments and critiques can shut down entire factory. Remember vauxhall? Comparing them is an effort from chris harris fanbase to elevate his status. How many book(s) have he written anyway? 😆😆😆😆
Nick De Groot Well most cars have fake tips so that if there's a low speed rear impact the bumper and fake tips are deformed instead of the exhaust getting bent.
Tim Oldland are you serious? Never heard this reason but the fact that the real exhaust is 3 centimetres shorter doesn't make a difference I guess. Next to that, Ferrari owners don't care about €500 extra costs I guess
Real reason is that the exhaust will get out of centre with the bumper because the rubbers carrying the exhausts will stretch over time. Fake exhaust tips make it always perfectly aligned. Another reason is that fake exhaust tips allows designs like these. Exhausts needs to be able to move a little, in a design like this the exhaust would touch the metal grate/mesh which creates an annoying resonating sound.
I am convinced 458 is the best looking modern [post 2000] car Ferrari have made. This might be ugliest - the front looks like its shouting with angry cartoon eyes for headlights.
The 458 is a masterpiece of art. And the name is also great because they kept it Italian. Now that they named their new vehicle the 812 Superfast. I think that they have ruined the car.
I’ve always been thinking that as well the 458 has always been the most aesthetically pleasing too me and it was also one of the last Ferrari’s that put speed over comfort
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess. I've felt the opposite, I love almost everything about the look of this car . Perhaps the styling on doors and wings really helps airflow but its a touch too aggresive for my taste. Other than that I love it. The 458 however, like the F430 and 360 before it have never visually floated my boat. Not to mention Ferrari managed to make their flat plane crank V8 engines sound like Japanese sports bikes. I'd take the 812 superfast over all of them. Just need that lottery win first.
I Wonder how many episodes they will waste this season not talking about cars or even doing a car show... They spent an entire episode as old men playing a war games on a car show, that was enough to turn off most Auto Enthusiasts. The poorly written Humor is not enough to make up for the terribly planned shows.. This is before we talk about celebrity brain crash and the stupidity of it.
If i want poorly written humor and war game skits involving a bunch of old men... Then i will go watch The Grand Tour... If I want to see cars tested to their limits by one of the best fact and skill driven car presenters in the world? I Will watch Chris Harris on Top Gear.
Incredible car. Also, fantastic video. I love the on-track outside of the car shots, very grainy and high contrast. Almost like it was filmed in super 8. super fast in super 8. Clever.
I feel like every time a journalist ask 'how much more can you go?'(Steve Sutcliff-F12 berlinetta & Chris Harris-F12 TDF) I feel like Ferrari takes it as a personal challenge and 12 to 24ish months later Ferrari says "This is better than the last one".

"Lets turn everything off" .. always my favourite part of any chris harris video
Chris Harris did not just saved top gear, he made it unique again (not comparing against the style of the previous format). lots of passion here
TheRomichou unique due to cancellation of fifth gear.... what a shame.....
Yeah, shame the others are dogshit

Top gear now = Chris Harris show.
I'm fine with that
Clearly that was the only clever thing to do. Sir Harris all the way.
I'm not mad about it but happy. He is a true patrol head like the old crew.
Yeah, remember when Clarkson did the review of the F12? That video was a masterpiece.
Thank god
"what kind of car do you want to insure sir"...." its a Ferrari Superfast"
I like the way his videos are very raw, no lollygagging, just pure driving and legit commentery
It's just mind blowing when you think about how a freaking pistons make such a lovely sound!
Yes much cleaner/classy than Lamborghini.

Agree with Sensi, to Chris its just another updated rebranded version of the F12.
I know, but it's a Ferrari... 800hp, v12 NA and not even a little excitement? Maybe he has drived to many cars 😂
its called composure.....
Yeah my guess is that if you have driven an F12 and or an F12TDF, you dont feel as if this 812 is that special.

And video by Neil too. Well done BBC Top Gear for picking up these TWO talented carguys. Great review!

it's not bad, but I think I'd still rather have an f12.
roguedogx Same. F12 is my out-and-out dream car but I still like this one
roguedogx exactly what i thought
roguedogx When the F12 came out people said they would rather have the 599GTB. The 599 is still my favourite.

I dont like that they have given it an name in english, Superfast!? It needs an Italian name!!
NikesZ28 it's a name they used in the past
Google Pininfarina 500 superfast. It's a beauty.
NikesZ28 superveloce has already taken by Lamborghini anyway
they must use something like "superrapido"
NikesZ28 ferrari had the superfast name on 500 superfast before lamborghini had sv superveloce on the miura .
Well, it seems even Ferrari isn't immune to fake exhaust tips (0:53) xD!
They're not 'fake' they are used to project the noise produced by the exhausts.
The first gen California also had fake exhaust tips.
Ah, right; O.K, Ferrari gets a free pass on that one, then xD!
Beagleman1996 you predicted the next video on Car Throttle before it was launched
when Ferrari inspire of Mercedes
Didn't like the look at all in pictures, looks the business on video. Great film as always from Chris and the team.
Archie Dennis in real life it's something in the middle.. Only looks good when it's a bit dirty
I reckon all cars look better when they're a bit mucky!
Archie Dennis from my experience not necessarily.. I actually think a Toyota AE 86 looks best when it looks like it just rolled of the assembly line
I think it would look good in a lot of different colours than red personally
Loque You have a good eye. It looks A LOT better in yellow. The best colour for a car is dictated by it's shapes and curves. Yellow brings out those curves and lines better.
This could be the best front engine Ferrari EVER. What a beautiful and brutal machine.
*This is the best…..
well, even a ferrari with 800 naturally aspirated v12 horsepowers has fake exhaust tips
jdslfc I can't believe that Ferrari put fake exhaust. It is disgusting!
Granted they did it for the sound, not just bc it looks better. Or so they say
jdslfc Because it has a quad exhaust each individual tip is half the size they would be if it had a dual exhaust. So it wouldn't be visually pleasing to see 4 tiny exhaust tips. Corvette does the same thing, they flare the quad tips out to make them look bigger.
I think it is because of crashing safety and not damaging the whole exhaust system.
the exhaust moves around under load thus the tip can not be secured. they need to vibrate independently else the while chassis will transmit the vibration and rattle.

I’m dying to see *this* version of Chris Harris over the one currently in Top Gear. He has such unbridled enthusiasm for cars in these videos.
"Exclusively on TopGear.com" (shows up on RUclips)
The rear styling is an improvement over the F12, but I prefer the F12's front styling. Love it in any case, the front engine V12s are always my favorite Ferraris.

Why do even Ferrari's have fake exhausts nowadays... (0:55)
