Wow. as someone who only got really into cymbals recently I wouldn’t have initially noticed that last k con needed any work but my goodness that cymbal has been really brought to life. Just a delightful thwack to the sticking whilst maintaining that lovely k con wash. No doubt a very happy customer.
Tim: I just discovered your video clips and I want to convey a "cheers" to you! I've been around Cymbals for the majority of my life (I am now 60 y.o.) and thought I had a keen sense of what they are about. I know doing research via books and human chatter enables one to become wiser(hopefully) but your RUclips clips conveying your Cymbal-smith skills profoundly put things in perspective with metal Pies and assist in acquiring a clearer understanding of the anatomical principles of a good(and bad) sounding Cymbal...Well done!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it. There's alot to learn and I feel like I'm just now scratching the surface of understanding this amazing instrument.
So Awesome. Your attention to sonic frequency is spot on. I've got to send you my meinl prototypes rides. That last zildjian had a nice crash to it for being a ride and the bell turned out perfect.
In the first video I saw, not sure when it was made in relation to this, but glad some of your work was shown, but hopefully you'll start capturing some real time mods, and maybe doing voiceovers occasionally to explain what you're doing.
Hi Timothy. Many thanks for these vere useful didactical videos. About the problem of the Diril. There was that area that gave when you pressed down. You said you were going to hammer from bottom to prop her up. But hammering from bottom doesn't make this zone further loose?
Not necessarily. In general, working the underside will loosen the structure, but if the work on top has passed a "tipping point" It will cause another kind of looseness that can only be ironed out via bottom hammering.
Great video! Regarding the K Con 22 med. low or K Constinople bells. Have you had any idea? On whats the bell on the Bounce ride, & the Kcon Thin Overhammered? Are they the same bell? Are those bells any different from the K con med low?
Yeah they are a bit different. The bounce has a wider bell whereas the Thin Overhammered and the medium low are the same (I believe). The wider bell has more overtones and a darker sound to my ear.
@@ReverieDrumCo That's great to know! Master cymbal smith like you helps make the world a better place! It has helped us all drummers have a better great understanding about cymbals! 👍👍👍
Great video. Your mod to the Masters Dry is still plenty articulate and is how Paiste should make them to begin with! Their "Dry" should have been the "Extra Dry" IMO.
Man, knowing what they charge the unsuspecting customer these days, that Kerope should have been illegal to sell ... you got the most out of it in the end, but that's how it should've sounded like from the start. Poor Zildjian.
It's like manufacturers who sell new trucks and cars, then you buy one and take it to a shop to get souped up with engine mods, new performance wheels and tires, etc. There's factory, then there's elective enhancements.
Great work, and in general a fascinating video. Plus, good for ear training, as far as the nuances of cymbals go. I would love to see some stuff on hi-hats, as I have a penchance for them. Thank you for sharing your expertise.
It would cool to see some videos of hammer work and cymbals on the lathe

Thank you! I really liked that one too.
So neat. I do drum restoration and after watching a few of your videos I never thought cymbals had so many issues.
It’s wild how many quirks I come across from week to week.
Woah, great job on that K Con! I might have to send you mine now…. Thanks as always for the super-informative content.
Thanks Luke!

I could watch this for hours. Love your work.
Glad you enjoy it!
You are a real Maestro and very generous to share your knowledge!
Really cool seeing the process at work! I had the exact same issues with a 20" K Con Light Ride.
So Awesome.

The most excellent video here .

@@ReverieDrumCo Thank you Timothy 🙏
I have a K Con Medium Thin Low that had a flat spot in it, low tension spot. I hammered it from the bottom in that spot and made it way better.
Awesome!
The kerope became a beast

Well said! Totally agree. Those tipped past what “dry” should be, imo.
Love these videos
Amazing content!
Tim Modified a pair of hats for me in summer and they are great!!!
Thanks Brent!
Beautiful work! What's your current turnaround time on mods?
@@Snewman513 right now I have about 75 mods in the shop so the leadtime is longer. Usually, I like to get them in and out within six weeks.
@@ReverieDrumCo Thank you! I've been thinking about sending something in! Maybe I'll reach out on your website and get the conversation going.
Wow, that KCon 20" started to sound like a quality piece in your treatment 👍 The original tone was just awful
Great video and wow insane what can be done. It’s cool to see what is done and it’s outcome 🥁🔥
Man, knowing what they charge the unsuspecting customer these days, that Kerope should have been illegal to sell ... you got the most out of it in the end, but that's how it should've sounded like from the start. Poor Zildjian.
Yeah it’s common with just about every major brand. The quality can vary widely.

That first cymbal sounds like binlids before AND after. Are they desirable) it looks expensive
Yeah people seem to really like the very dry, trashy type cymbal these days… to each his own!

Yeah I should do a video on hats for sure!
Sir how do you get a traditional finish to a brilliant finish? Is it just polishing? Or is there a special way of lathing?
It's just a matter of polishing and burnishing. Very simple.
@@ReverieDrumCo Awesome. Thanks man!
Paiste Masters and Twenty are made by Murat Diril workshop.
Yep!
How much do you charge for this project 🤔 cymbals
You can find all the pricing info here: reveriedrums.com/shop/mod-cymbals
More thin, more wash. More thin, less ping. Médium is the answer.
The first one was an Ibrahim diril not a murat
Yeah, I made note of that in the video. Check the text overlay.
@@ReverieDrumCocause I know Ibrahim they make good cymbals him and murat... any way great work sir
Paiste sounded much better 🤟
Wow! 🤓🥁👍🏼 How much do charge per cymbal? Do you have individual rates?
