    I would take issue with a smith or company calling a cymbal for example "the Tony Williams signature model" but don't have any issue with it being labelled a "tribute" at all. 2 very different things.

    Ha! You even got his spinning table for checking flatness! It seemed silly in his shop but ever since I used it, I've really wanted my own. I'm glad you were able to at least keep his equipment in the game! Also, I played that exact NM cymbal at Maxwell's while at the Chicago Drum Show this year. It really did sound great. Such an amazing lush sparkle wash thing going on! I did what you did in your video: I hit it once and stopped and went "wow!" I'm glad it's in your collection now!

    Wow what a haul!!.......so fortunate to have industry craftsman relationships like Nick. It can't be understated that the human body is finite, as you've found out. The cymbal industry is lucky to have a younger craftsman like you who's at the top of his game......but, there's only so many strikes that one's hands arms and shoulders can take, and ears as well. There's no shame in utilizing a machine like that if you can achieve the results, and if it can extend your career by another 10-20yrs. Great to hear you've got an assistant, who's learning the craft 😉👍

    I feel very fortunate that I had the opportunity to do some basic as well as advanced training with Nick at his shop. I watched some of those various pieces of equipment you now have being installed by Nick. I wish you luck chopping up that concrete, lol! But seriously, I’m very happy to see you make use of this equipment. I hope it takes you to the next level, my brother.

    This is the nicest sounding flat ride I've ever heard. Great stick sound, sweet musical wash underneath, and the crash playability is outstanding. So many flat rides have this annoying high end ringing in a small band of frequencies, that make the cymbal sound like a cheap cell phone ringtone. This one is the gold standard for flat ride cymbals, I would say!

    Ask yourself the following question. Have you ( or anyone you know ) ever walked out of a club or concert and said " Gee, the music was great but the cymbals really sounded bad ?". Of course you haven't, because no one really notices or cares. In most must music the tone, ping, light or dark of the cymbals makes absolutely no difference. Note to drummers: Your cymbals will neither make nor break you. It's how you play not what you play on.

    • @ReverieDrumCo
      @ReverieDrumCo 14 дней назад

      While I agree with the sentiment, I couldn't disagree more that the sound of your instrument doesn't matter. Sure, the layperson won't notice, but you will as the musician. What matters is "does it inspire you?". That's why I do what I do.
