Cymbal Unboxing and SHOP UPGRADE!
Very interesting. Do you ship any of your gold to Europe?
Brother, all I can say is "The Truth" will set you free; in more ways than one, best wishes on your "Redux" metaphor! I really like your style and what you are doing. Stay true to yourself Timothy! Best wishes for 2025 and beyond.
I SOOOOOOO agree!!! Great video Timothy!
Right on Timothy! And that’s what I love about the cymbal you made. it’s “reflective” and it mirrors what you put into it and how you play it.
ruclips.net/video/bOY2pQz-X_k/видео.htmlsi=JNdw1QsgkGyEBjAI that cymbal is a less dry version of this beauty. it’s funny.. you worked on a commission for me -where we were trying to replicate this old K - we may have to try again!! beautiful work bro! happy new year
I really like the cymbal. It's definitely a swing jazz type cymbal.
This one is sounding absolutely terrific !!! I love everything about it
Oh man, that reminds me of a 22" K Con thin I played on at, of all places, a Guitar Center. It had that same ultra wobble and a lot of definition with a ton of wash. At the time though, I was shopping for something for rock and country gigs I was doing. I'd love to have something like that in my collection now. That's definitely something I'd be interested in. Actually, I have this weird old 22" Kent ride that has the right idea with the amount of trash but it loses definition after a bit of aggressive playing. Maybe someday I'll have you look at it.
Daaaaaaaamn. i was tooooo slooooow
Timothy, that is one fine piece of work! The many tones and zones make this metal disk a true instrument. I have always wavered between your Lab and Tributary depending on my mood/ear for the day. It's really cool to see you grow and discover. Thanks for sharing the art.
it sounds like beautiful rain. would rivets spread it too much?
Sounds similar to the one Brian Blade used in Kenny Garrrett's album 'Triology'. Great work by the way! Cheers from the Philippines.
dude that cymbal kills out front. maybe right on top of it, it's just not hitting you right
i really like the sound of this cymbal
Do you have more available? Where can I check the price of it?! Great job! And happy holidays!
Great and honest video! I was wondering if there isn't a better way to control the machine (speed, force). Its manipulation seems to be very error-prone having to do so many thing at the same time.
Incredible work! I really love this sound. I imagine you'll get a lot of requests for this! 20 years ago I saw Antonio Sanchez in a tiny club, and his main ride was Constantinople Medium-Thin Low (before he replaced it with an old K that had a huge chunk taken out of it). It had a sound very similar to this cymbal and probably similar specs (about 2400g and low profile). I loved the really low-pitched wash. But since his cymbal was a Z, it lacked your cymbal's complexity and control, so he put a whopping 7 squares of gaffer tape on the bottom. The tape was there in the small club, and it was there when he played in large venues with Pat Metheny. If he had your cymbal, he wouldn't have needed so much tape (but he likes a dry sound). I believe it had 2 rivets, which were great with the low wash and probably to ensure it didn't sound dead with all the tape.
Why do the hammers used for cymbals only have "one half" compared to regular hammers? I mean, they look like an L instead of a T.
Right on Tim. You're onto something!
That's the cymbal I've been searching for!
sounds absolutely fantastic !!
Agree Tim..awesome! Great job...Merry Christmas to you and your family!!
You need to save this as a prototype, for replicating that sound and feel. It kinda reminds me of my 50’s hollow-block Avedis. Except, that it suffers a slight keyholing
Incredible. Mate, you’re making some world-class cymbals 👏🏻👏🏻
Yo can I send you my cymbals to be worked on?
Like a bass guitar string vibrating. So many parameters to explore. Thanks.
👌🔝Cool!!
I must have it.
Sounds great! I have a 22 Sabian AA Apollo ride that wobbles like this one.
Very interesting indeed, I wouldn’t call it one dimensional at all!
Perfection
It's a variation on one of my favorite cymbals in my collection, the 22" Hammerax Liquicy. The best of them actually were great rides and not just effect cymbals. There's a reason when these come up on ebay or Reverb, they are sccoped up witjin 24 hours. It's great to see the other enthisiastic comments below, becuase I suspect there is a demand for this... The Liquicy is SO wobbly it can be folded like a taco shell but goes right back into shape. I run mine without rivits. This is a great cymbal you've created. Please keep creating, and if you'd like to borrow my cymbal as part of your exploration, I'd be happy to send it (particualrly if you can semi-clone it for a commisssion as I'm scared to tour with the only one I'll likely ever have).
ohhhhhh I'm definitely interested! That would be amazing to get a good Hammerax in the shop for analyzation and making some in the same vein. Let's chat about it! My email is tim@reveriedrums.com
Oooo, sweet sounding pie Tim! Apparently, you are becoming quite the high level Cymbalsmith...Cheers!
Thanks!
Wow, I absolutely love this thing.
Is it for sale?
This one sold pretty quickly after I posted it. I’ve got multiple other similar ones in production now that I’ll hopefully get finished in the next month or so. I can't say, at this point, when exactly they'll be finished and what batch they'll be in. I have a commission product (reveriedrums.com/shop/p/ride-cymbal-commission) where you can order a ride and specify that you want it made as close to the 22" Labyrinth 2495g as possible. I have detailed notes on how this was made so I could definitely get very close on another one.
@@ReverieDrumCo What would a 22”same model and weight cymbal cost? Beautiful cymbal! You are a real artist!
I love this cymbal! I have an Istanbul that's similar in shape but doesn't have the control that this one does. Even the bell is clear while not overwhelming. Beautiful job!
Yep I agree . Smooth glassy tinny . Yet Pingy with good stick Wobbly played in sound . I dig it
I need cymbal work............I love that one, like most of them!
Yeah! It's like a flat ridey labyrinth.
SO BEAUTIFUL! This kind of cymbal needs to be a series!!!
or a Labyrinth sub-series if nothing else
Yes, I think so!
Looking forward to watching you explore this profile of cymbal!!!
I will definitely be doing alot of exploring in this new zone.
Timothy .. so impressive.. truly One of The Best You've Created !!!
Thank you!
Timothy, as you know, I have a lot of vintage cymbals. My favs are all lower shaped. This is a FANTASTIC cymbal man!!!!
Thanks Brent!
That is an absolute Beaut!
I really like this one a lot. The whole concept reminds me of Meinl's byzance jazz and foundry reserve lines. Thin and wobbly but with great stick definition and not super loud. I find it really difficult to find cymbal makers that can balance those properties well (looking at you, Z)
Because "Z"s are overpriced crowd-pleaser "nice" cymbals. For interesting options and diversity, only real turkish cyms, for example Agops or Mehmets come to mind
Love it!! Sounds killer. That’s the sweet spot for me, glassy sound presenting with high’s on the stick definition with a low hum underneath and almost no mid-range. Cymbals like this sound like they’re being played with knitting needles. This is heavier than I would usually go for, but this is one of your all-time best creations, and that is saying a lot!!
Thanks Dominic! This design with a thinner weight (say around 2300g) would be really challenging to make without it being a total wash fest, but now that you say it, I wanna try it... 🤔
it sounds good to our ears...it's nice to see cymbals with a different darker voice than what's already out there
This might be my favorite series! All this companies just churn out super dry cymbals for the sake of it. This however lets some breath come through. Love the 2nd one the most. Very well done!
Thanks!
you took enough bronze off that one cymbal that if melted down, you could make a pair of hi hats?
haha yeah almost!
Fabulous work! I learned a lot and love the transformation!🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
