You've really helped me learn that i just don't really like passive pickups at all. I think because the artist I listened to growing up used more active pickups. They just sound how i feel like a guitar should sound.
Bonsoir! Maybe I'm late for this video, but I just discovered your channel because I'm looking to buy my first electric guitar and found your reviews - which I honestly found great and very helpful. Now, if you see this comment, I hope you could help me clear my mind. I am deciding between three low-budget guitars to start practicing metal. My options are: ESP LTD MH-10, the Harley Benton ST-20 HH active SBK; and the HB r-446 (which I like for the aesthetics most of all, not gonna lie here). Which one do you think is the best option? Thanks for your videos, they help us beginners a lot!
Don’t worry you’re not late :) I guess you intend on playing metal music, do you ? The ST-20 HH active I have reviewed was a really interesting guitar, but I’ve also heard several people complaining about the noise of the HBZ active pickup on theirs. Eventhough I didn’t encounter this problem, it might happen. The R-446 is a very nice player and for the price the pickups are really good but, in my mind, less good than the LTD LH-100 pickups you will get on the LTD MH-10. In the « big brand small price » category, the MH-10 is the best I’ve had in my hands. The R-446 is a very good guitar too and the tone will mainly depend upon your amp, so it’s a good choice too. The ST-20 HH has a brutal metal tone for sure, but if you intend on playing clean tones, you will realiza that the level of output on the HBZ pickups is too high to get a real nice clean tone. Hope this is gonne help you chose !
@@ToroKchannel Thank you so much for your response! After what you said, I will go for the LTD MH-10; even though it's a little more expensive, I think it is worth the price (and it's still very cheap, of course). Keep up the good work and greetings from Spain :)

I've had the same feeling for years, but in time, I've started appreciating passive PU as well :)
