    I don’t get how people can’t comprehend that this is Osha’s pov. The people in the comments screaming it doesn’t make sense seem to forget that the inspo for this series is literally something that relies on multiple POVs.
    PS, Lee Jung-Jae is the highlight of this show, easily.

      There are some not further specified energy systems to be seen earlier in the episode that really look like they could cause one of the typical "one-hit-at-a-critical-position-leads-to-an-all-destroying-chain-reaction" events that we often find in star wars.
      Additionally, there where a few things happening that we didn't see from Oshas perspective. The jedi were already there, probably warned by the force about a coming danger. Some of the witches would've noticed the fire, so Mae would need to explain things. I could imagine that she maybe told them that the jedi tried to take her and Osha against their will and that they're responsible for the fire and the chaos. In this case, the witches would probably start fighting against the jedi. This would explain why things went down so quickly and why the jedi later felt guilty about the outcome.

    Find it very weird some fans are upset of a fatherless conception cuz thats "what made Anakin special". Like Koril couldnt have been more clear that Mother Aniseya did something with The Thread to conceive Osha and Mae and they also didnt come out in anyway Iridonian Zabrak in their appearance despite Koril birthing them. Since as far as we know no one did something like that to Shme he's still their special lil immaculate conception boy. Wonder what other differing factors between Mae and Osha compared to Anakin could be making the usually very reasonable fanboys absolute froth machines right now?

    • @B-a-t-m-a-n
      @B-a-t-m-a-n Месяц назад

      Immaculate conception doesn't mean what you think it means.

    • @Mis7erSeven
      @Mis7erSeven Месяц назад +2

      First, you shouldn't think of those people getting upset too much. They're stupid and will always interpret reality the way they want. If a character they like has a unique trait, they will say that this is "special" and "fitting to the character" and it's "great that no one else has it". However, if there is a unique trait to a character they don't like, they will say this is "not how the force works", "no respect to other characters" or a "plot hole". Just don't think about it too much, there is no real logic behind it.
      Second, I would like to mention why I think the writers implemented this story about how Mae and Osha were created as opposed to what we know about Anakin.
      It was intentionally left open where exactly Anakin came from, but the idea of a chosen one being born without a real father is not exactly new. If you ever read the bible, you will find a very similar story about a boy being born without a human father, gifted with great powers and destined to save everyone... Fantasy writers always love mythology and I'm certain that George Lucas had some inspirations as well.
      But ever since Anakins story was told, there has been a popular legend among the fans of the dark side. They like to believe that Darth Sidious did to Shmi exactly what mother Aniseya did to Koril, that he would be Anakins "father". There are multiple reasons why this doesn't make sense for the story, but this didn't stop people from believing it. I think the story of Mae and Osha was implemented to finally give an answer to it. One on hand, it is confirmed that the dark side can in fact be used to put your baby in someone else (kinda sick if you think about it). But at the same time, it is also prooven that Anakin was NOT created this way by Sidious. As you correctly mentioned, Mae and Osha have like nothing in common with their biological mother, she is not even the same species. That means a child created this way will only come after the person who used the force on the mother. If Sidious created Anakin this way, Anakin would look and be like him which he doesn't.
      It will never end the legends and the discussions, of course. But it gave us some facts to it.

  • @G1Transformed
    @G1Transformed Месяц назад +3

    22:15 True, but we saw how broken Master Sol was. Sol seems to have an incredibly strong connection to children in the same way Ezra does with animals--he trained younglings on Coruscant, and he was sent on a mission 16 years ago with Indara, Kelnacca, and Torbin--this story made it a point to show us that Sol took the lead in tracking down the children.
    Anyway, considering how things went down, an entire people got wiped out. All the Jedi wanted to do was test the children and bring willing applicants back to the temple to become Jedi, and the worst-case scenario happened.
    Torbin, being the youngest and still a Jedi in training, took it the hardest. Six years after the event he took a vow and committed himself to 10 years of meditation. Torbin never recovered; he apparently believed that his visit to the planet played a hand in the destruction of Osha and Mae's people, and he was not alone.
    Indara took a post off Coruscant, somewhere in the Outer Rim. This series introduced us to her in a Cantina where we see her gambling with locals, which I think we'd all agree isn't Jedi like. Kelnacca seemingly quit the Jedi Order and lives on a forested world, living off the land.
    Sol is the only one we stayed on Coruscant. I wouldn't say that he isn't without guilt--not for what happened on Brendok per se, but Osha's departure from the Jedi--he keeps a holo projection of her on his person.
    I agree with you that this story leaves more questions than answers, but I don't think that all is as it seems. Osha and Mae are like their mothers, opposites, two sides of the same coin. Mother Aniseya explained to the girls that they were very powerful and that as they grew older their power would too and that it too would change. Did Osha leave because the power in her changed her feelings? This story was called Destiny. Did Mother Aniseya let things play out as they did because it was destiny? This coven was on the run, and it certainly seemed that the story was explaining that Osha and Mae were supposed to be their saviors, their second coming. When Osha openly voiced her wishes to be something else and somewhere else Osha likely doomed her family right then and there--the power of one; the power of two; the power of many; Osha and Mae were that coven's power. Osha pulled the "thread" and that power splintered.
    Was Mother Koril only worried about the Jedi? Mother Aniseya spoke of how people saw their use of the force as something Dark--the Sith use the Dark Side of the Force. Was Mother Koril more worried about her coven being affiliated with the Jedi when they were already in league with a Sith Lord? Mae somehow survived her fall and she's currently with a Sith Lord. More importantly, this story is showing us how Anakin was created! These witches knew how to create life through the Force! This is something that was eluded to be unnatural from the discussion and worry from Osha and Mae's mothers. Palpatine spoke to Anakin about the unnatural things he could teach Anakin in RotS. Palpatine's master had to have learned this trick somewhere, and this is likely that moment.
    Anyway, I think we have one more flashback, as there are other scenes with Carrie-Anne Moss that were shown in previous trailers that we haven't seen yet, and I believe that Jodie-Turner Smith has at least one more episode to appear in.
    This is interesting. I can't wait to see how this all plays out. Whatever happens, Mae and Osha are exactly the way they are supposed to be, I imagine. They are Yin and Yang; both sides of the Force. They both need each other, as they represent balance in the Force. What went wrong with them, was corrected with Anakin, I guess. Darth Pelagius didn't split the Force into two beings, he put it all in one, and his apprentice, Palpatine, swayed that powerful being to his side and ruled the galaxy for 25 years before losing it all to the offspring of balanced Force.

  • @GattsBerserkArmor
    @GattsBerserkArmor Месяц назад +6

    So Mae tried to kill Osha but how would she destroy the whole place? Plus the injuries on the Jedi.
    Considering the revelation about how Mother Anisheya used the Force to make Mother Koril pregnant with the twins i suspect some Sith fuckery happened in the place to pit the Jedi against the Witches coven. Hence why Torbin felt so guilty that he killed himself and Kelnacca became a hermit. Let's not forget according to Sidious, Darth Plagueis knew how to use the Force to create life. So maybe he learned from the Witches or they learned from him.
    Guess we will have another flashback. Perhaps showing things from Sol's point of view or Mae's or maybe even from the Sith's.

    I'm not absolutely 100% but I think the coven featured here might be an exiled clan of Dathomiri witches called The Singing Mountain clan. They first appeared in a novel in Star Wars Legends called The Courtship of Princess Leia. They've only been mentioned in the new canon... so there's no telling what happened to them at all.. But if I'm right, this is a really pleasant surprise that I wasn't expecting.

    It's interesting.
    The Jedi, supposed bastions of peace and unity, refer to the benign energy field that unifies the Galaxy as a "Force". Force can be abused and misused and destructive depending on how it is used.
    The Witches refer to the SAME energy as "The Thread". Thread actually does stitch things together, and can even repair damaged things.....

    • @Mis7erSeven
      @Mis7erSeven Месяц назад

      The witches are using the dark side. Put no one would ever see themselves as the bad guys in the story, so they would give it a different name to justify their actions.
      This is something that was always brilliant in the way Star Wars was written since the very beginning.
      Star Wars always had heroes and villains. The jedi and the rebels or resistance fighters would try to protect people while the sith, the empire or the droid army would try to kill innocent people. So if you ask people which side they would support, probably 90% of all people would see themselves on the good side.
      But on the other hand, the "balance of the force" was always the main theme in Star Wars. The light side and the dark side are equal, always existing parallel to eachother and none of them being stronger than the other. So there can't be 90% of the people on one side. If this should make sense, people need to be evenly distributed to both sides.
      Once you take your time to really learn what all the Star Wars stories can teach you about the force, you soon realize that things are a lot more subtle and complex than just "good or bad". And if you actually come to a decent conclusion about which character traits and mindsets belong to the light or the dark side, you will find that there really about 50% of all people on each side. George Lucas really understood how we are.
      But the consequence is interesting: If the majority of people sees themselves on the good side but in reality, both sides are equal, it means there is a large number of Star Wars viewers who belong to the dark side without realising it. And so they will critisize the actions of the jedi: That they strictly follow their code, that they don't allow attachments, that they make decisions in the council instead of following their intuition...
      The fact that those people believe they know better than the jedi is INTENDED by the way the stories are written. The controversy is part of the lore and that is just brilliant.
      Remember when Luke Skywalker asked force ghost Obi-Wan why he didn't tell him the truth about his father? And Obi-Wan replied that he did tell him the truth, just from a different point of view.
      It always has been like this and they never changed it in more than 45 years of Star Wars. Your comment is just the newest example for the current show.

  • @collegebro85
    @collegebro85 Месяц назад +2

    I don’t wanna spoil anything…but it is 100% the Jedi at fault in slaying the Coven to ensure the girls came with them (remember as far as they know, Osha was told to lie to them, so they had zero reason to continue negotiating) and honestly Mae is justified as she saw what actually went down and is seeking justice thinking the Jedi killed everyone she knew…man what a twist!!!
    I mean, the fire Mae started couldn’t have spread as fast as it did, nor would a whole group of powerful witches die so easily (especially since we hear them crying out moments earlier when Sol and Osha were escaping) and as you said none were burnt (clothes especially) soooo…lightsaber/force instead? Also, how did Sol get there so fast and know exactly where to find the girls unless he was already inside before everything went down? Why would Mae set a fire to kill everyone when she was the one that wanted to stay and honor their traditions!? Yet, when we see her down in that boiler pit, she has seen their mom and everyone dead and exclaims “what have YOU done?” as if to say “why did you invite the Jedi to our door so that they could do this??”
    None of what we have been told so far makes any sense…unless you turn the spy glass around and look into the other side! Mae told Indara “yes you do strike first” and “a Jedi draws their weapon only to kill” because she has seen that very thing happen, and Torbin being so repentant to commit suicide over what happened and feeling like it “was the right thing at the time” meant he was a part of a scheme to take the kids with them by any means necessary…killing, not being peaceful, which is NOT like the Jedi whatsoever, and then the Council goes as far to cover it up to save face?
    It would be a bold yet interesting take to have the Jedi be the antagonists and possibly why they reformed into what we saw during the film saga! Also, the witches 1000% found “how to create life” that a century later would be uncovered by Plagius and Palpatine to create Anakin…which I know is gonna piss some fans off, but it expands the Star Wars lore even more!!

      We haven't seen the full story yet. Could very well be a sith tricked both the witches and Jedi into fighting each other - both think they were in the right, but it was really the sith playing both sides. And the reason the Sith did this? To get his acolyte - Mae. She sees her whole world destroyed, which is a great gateway to the dark side. But she has no idea her "new master" is the one who killed them all. She blames the Jedi. As for the Jedi, they feel guilty they fell for the ruse, and all these innocent people died. I think Sol is in the dark though, he doesn't know what really happened.

    • @collegebro85
      @collegebro85 Месяц назад +1

      @@moondog3056 first off, a Sith on that planet alongside 4 Jedi sneaking around makes no sense, and then he is nowhere to be seen during or after the events? Plus one versus a whole coven of witches is far fetched, even if it was Darth Vader himself, and why would Mae trust much less seek out to train under someone with a lightsaber (as far as she knew, they were all Jedi and the enemy)!
      She knew who killed her mother, perhaps even saw it herself as she is going in order of who did the most damage (Indarra perhaps struck down her mom, Torbin and Telnacca assisted in slaying a few more, and Sol went after the girls). Torbin wouldn’t be so afflicted unless he had a part in the massacre. In addition, if the Jedi would have came across another secret Force user that had killed everyone, that would be their first guess as to who had done the murders and the Council itself would be on the manhunt for that individual long before Mae took her revenge.
      As for clones, le sigh, this isn’t Kamino with tanks and monitoring their rapid growth now…plus they would look exactly like their mothers, sooooo…

    • @collegebro85
      @collegebro85 Месяц назад

      @@live2walk that’s actually not a bad theory…but that takes a lot of liberty even for someone like Palpatine. Tricking so many at once like that, especially hiding in secret on the planet amongst everyone else, that would be very hard to do. Even if that did happen, as far as Mae knew, the only people that showed up with a lightsaber were the enemy…they were all Jedi to her…so why trust someone else with a weapon like that? She’s not going to believe his lies and join with him UNLESS she sought him out herself to learn how to take them down. Remember, this Sith doesn’t just have her under his tutelage, he has the guy from the shop and who knows how many other followers…plus, that would be lazy writing and predictable for it to be pretty much what we have already seen form the movies, ya know? Flip the script and make it be where the Jedi weren’t always “the good guys” and had to make hard decisions to justify their actions…just like in history, our ancestors all did horrible things at one point or another, and our country even hasn’t always been on the right side of history!

I.e. not everyone can learn to wield the force and do things like a force push. The "thread" is just the witches' twisted interpretation of the force.
      The Jedi eventually lose their way, but a true Jedi obeys the will of the force. The show portrays the Jedi as malevolent autocrats (facists) when they're stomping out evil. The show's creator believes that the Jedi are fundamentally flawed, which is a perversion of everything that George Lucas established.

    So many small-time youtubers I thought were awesome, more genuine than those who became famous. I was wrong.. but of course.. i guess i should just "stop watching your videos" if i feel sad huh? because we, 85% of fans, are in the wrong, because I, a trans woman, am definitely some middle aged conservative misogynists white dude.. I'm honestly heart broken.

      I genuinely am not sure what in this comment is referencing my reaction. But I do hope in the future you can feel less heartbroken and find videos you truly enjoy.

    you get a thumbs up, always like youre open mind and that you see the good in others.....
    but... disney....sigh ... thread not force? sigh .... established lore not important? .. .sigh
    as always im not allowed to even say this show is bad..... but it is what it is... shame that this show wasnt made 10 years from not after disney went bankrupt and far more capable writers would rewrite this all... and I really feel sorry for George L. at this moment, this show is such a backstab for his legacy.

      Can you not grasp the concept that the Jedi and Sith are religions? The same can be said for the witches of Dathomir and Brendok… they all view the Force differently. This is not a new concept AT ALL. What you’re doing is pretending something is new and “lore breaking” to be fake mad about something. You’re no better than the people that pretended there’s never been fire in space or space suits in Star Wars before even though both were present in Star Wars since the first movie…
      If you’re not going to have a genuine critique so you have to make up a problem to complain about.. just stop watching and let people who actually like Star Wars.. watch Star Wars in peace.
      And George Lucas helped develop the idea for the witches of Dathomir when he SELF-PRODUCED The Clone Wars with his own money… witches aren’t anything he’d be sad about.

      The Jedi have their own interpretation of the force, the Sith have another, the dathomir witches have another, this ain’t the first time this has happened

      I say this as not the biggest fan of Disney Star Wars.
      It makes perfect sense for a different sect of Force Wielders to call the Force something else. Different Sects with different intepretations are not nothing new and has been a part of Star Wars for decades. It helps make the setting more interesting instead of having the Jedi be the only Force Wielders that are also objectively correct about everything for the billionth time but I'm a Kreia-Head.

      How many names for God are there in the real world? Why would every single race who have their own language, concepts & culture all have the same name and interpretation of the universe?
