- For John Linney, a sportscar enthusiast, the Triumph TR4 isn't just a reminder of a simple, well-engineered, beautiful car. It is "THE CAR" that got him into filmmaking.
And then for him came the Miata, with its beautiful and functional design that has stood the test of time.

These cars make you feel alive and put a smile on your face. It's not about 0 to 60 times, but the essence of driving and freedom. I own and daily drive a first gen Miata and will buy the last gen before they turn to electric or go away.
beautifully filmed in the northern California redwoods. makes me want to drive my TR3. the comment about confidence in getting home on your own 4 wheels in a Miata is well taken
Thanks for a great video! We have very similar tastes.
I got hooked on sports cars at an early age and had a '67 TR4A in my early 20s - yikes, that was 50 years ago!
Flash forward to now, and an '03 Miata gives me that same sports car thrill - fantastic for the twisties here in southern Oregon. We're very lucky to be experiencing the sports car "thing" at a time when internal combustion seems to be on the way out.
Keep up the great work.
That TR4 is spotless.
I own a 1979 Triumph Spitfire, 1973 MGB, and 1995 Mazda Miata!
Beautifully filmed.....I am a long time TR3A owner (over 5 decades) and my good friend drove a first year Miata that he travelled all over in....He recently passed away.....I didn't fit in the Miata very well as I'm 4ft 28inches tall , but my TR3A gives me loads of leg room, even more than a Mercedes 450SL, and is so easy to maintain and a joy to drive.....At 76 I still look forward to those drives....
Nice video, thank you. I used to own a brand new Miata 20 years ago. Today, I am the happy owner of a beautiful 1966 TR4a. I relate to everything you said. I sometimes miss the agility and reliability of the Miata but the TR4 is just so classy and elegant that it is simply impossible not to love it.
However, the most fun roadster I ever had was a 1979 Midget which was nimble and agile, more modern than a TR4 yet classier than the Miata.
I agree with you, these cars are the best drivers cars without spending too much, it's the same reason why i have an MGA and a warmed up karmann ghia
As a Tr-250 owner …nice. Mine is also white
I came across this by butt dialing “tr4:),” and now I’m down a rabbit hole
I own a 1990 Miata and 1974 tr6
Lucky you to possess 2 wonderful, true sports cars as these! I think the MGB had it's influence too in the Miata development. Miata: "The best British sports car that Britain never built." Thanks for this! (btw - that music is too loud, distracting.)
I owned a Miata. It was more reliable than the TR 4’s I own now. But being tall it was too cramped for me. The TR 4’s fit my size better and I like the classic looks.
Owned a 1966 TR 4 A from new in BRG with Black leather. It was a fun car until winter arrived when I discovered that the heater wouldn’t heat and the defroster seemed much the same. I paid $3300 which about the same as a GTO
Nice Triumph TR4..
Sorry but the MGB is my choice.
The Miata sounds like a sewing machine compared to the Triumph...
