Washi papers are incredibly versatile for mixed-media art and collage, and Shikishi are beautiful substrates for creativity. Karen will show you a variety of papers, inks, drawing tools, and techniques that will inspire you to get into the creative flow. She will show how she decorates papers with mark-making, printmaking, and painting and uses Japanese papers in mixed-media collages.

Does layer of silver point ground prevent other layers on top? Like other craft inks or paints? Like matte medium allows?

Yes it does allow other layers! It's much like gesso. 😊

Nice explanation of the paper differences. Thank you! Is Kozo good for gel print or not? Early example was gel printed but later said not preferred. I may have misunderstood.

Hm, maybe Karen meant to say "Hosho" is recommended for gel print. Our Hosho paper pad (item number 6H) is one of her favorite washi papers to use for gel printing. Kozo paper is better suited to woodblock printing. We hope this helps! 😊
