This is such a super idea. Suggestion: try running your washi covered base card through your die machine using a simple die. Save a ton of time and arthritic hands.

This is my first time seeing you, and I have enjoyed your video very much. I am subscribing to you and can't wait to see your other videos. Thank you so much. I am disabled, and the only things I can do are work, make cards, and crochet. I never leave my home because it is so hard for me. So, watching these videos makes my day, and again, I greatly enjoyed this one.

I know I’m late!!! A year late, but I just found your channel!!! Love , love it!! I have lots of washi tape, but I have never seen anything like this. I make cards, so I’m very excited to make cards using this technique. I’m not even through the video (at the bird part), but I had to stop and leave a comment. You are brilliant!! I definitely will be binge watching your videos. I’m anxious to see what else you have in your wheelhouse. Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge. 💜

For storing your homemade washi tape you can also stick your tape onto a sheet of baking paper. Once you've finished painting your tape, leave it on the baking paper and roll the sheet onto an empty paper towel roll and take of pieces when you need them. You can layer and store several sheets of wash tape on the same roll.

I love this idea for a quick craft. Also love how your art journal looks! I like to use all my junk mail flyers and such. The paper quality is nice and it gets totally covered up with the tape. Whatever print does show through slightly often just adds to the color and design and looks interesting. Great way to upcycle junk mail, especially if you don’t own any scrapbook or other craft paper. Personally, I’m impatient and find it too annoying to worry about all the little edges and corners of the washi tape getting nice and flat (my washi tape isn’t very sticky), so I just make sure to cover the finished product with Mod Podge or a mixture of white school glue and a bit of water (to help spread the glue) and that keeps the corners from peeling up. It does add a bit of texture, but I kind of like that. Also, if you don’t love the overall finished look once the paint is down, you can add a wash of paint (watered down paint) or spray ink, etc. so the overall color is more to your liking but the designs still show through. So fun! Love your videos ❤

I love the custom washi tape. I use washi tape for quite a few different things--and heaven knows I have quite a bit of it--but sometimes I still don't have the colour I want so ... 😄I might have to get out all the colours and paint up some tape in every colour. The micropore tape is a great tip. Never would have thought to try that.

Tissue paper with double sided adhesive makes lovely washi tape. You are able to just roll it up to store because it still has the backing on it. Your patterns are never damaged by the tacky over time. You can also cut it into different widths.

I am definitely going to make a bunch of embellishments for my cards using your idea. I have mod podge that I will use to seal my tape when done. I wonder if you can run this through a die cutting machine? Maybe if I keep the tape to 1 or 2 layers it will work and not use a paper that is to thick. This is an amazing idea! I love it! I think you could get more birds if you move the actual stencil part to the edge. Let the blue parts of the stencil hang over the edge and fit as many as you can by turning the stencil different ways and going as close to each other as possible by ignoring the extra stencil!

I was actually looking for a way to make special-shaped frames for inspirational words for a project, and following the mad rabbit 'round the you-tube hole, I found your little tutorial.
I first clicked on it because I really loved the awesomely colored birds and things.
but then I saw the way you cut out the intended embelishment from the middle of the specially made card, and eurika!! of course, the finicky work around the legs won't do for a frame, but the body shape of the bird?! and a butterfly?!! exactly what I wanted!!
    cheers! 🍹
