Thank you! You answered my question about what to do (nothing!) about a suspected Brown-headed Cowbird egg in a nest on my porch. I'm a beginning birder and I've just subscribed to your channel.

Kill the parent cowbirds and don't tell anyone. Coat the cowbird egg in clear paint so it doesn't hatch. My yard, my rules.

    Pleasee I need help...
A pair of doves always lays egg on my balcony curtains...
They have been laying since 6 months
And have raised 6 babies.. 2 times at once...
As they are about 14 days... Both chicks leaves the nest at 14th day.. but I see parents roaming around and hovering all over in every building.... Then they lays eggs again in 8-10 days.
As I lives in too much populated area.. there are tall apartments all around..
I'm not sure but I think those babies get lost after they leaves the nest at 14th day... Once I saw one of the baby being stuck in deep thin area where I couldn't reach... And then it disappeared
If they wouldn't have been lost the parents would have feeded them for atleast 10 more days..
But they lays again 10 days.
And I think those 14 days chicks are not able to self feed and found food in this apartment area..
Now the new chick's are 14 days old😭.
They seems to leave the nest soon in 1-2 days
Please tell me should I put them in my home for few days till they are able to self feed and fly properly.
What should I do leave them as is it.
Or wait till they are on self feed pls reply

I would leave them as is and let nature take it's course. It sounds like the birds know what they are doing and most fledglings will not be able to self feed or fly properly when they first leave the nest. I made another video on baby birds that you could check out that may give you more details!

Do these Cowbirds have any redeeming traits? Like good at catching annoying bugs that feed on crops? If not, let the babies grow, but when they are big enough, just fire up the grill and toss them in. Fried Cowbirds

Or you just remove it and hunt local cowbirds in the area. Though it’s illegal it is not enforced, this is in Louisiana. In my property I only allow certain animal species into my property, all others are removed by wild life and fisheries or by me. Life is good 😊

Cowbird chicks will never survive in a house finch nest. They die at a average of 3.2 days after hatching. House finch diet is no conducive to life for the cowbird chick. Here is the journal reference sora.unm.edu/sites/default/files/journals/condor/v098n02/p0253-p0258.pdf
