A more reasonably priced laptop from Huawei with some serious power under the hood. I like the design, and how thin and light it is with a, 16 inch screen tucked in their. It's great to see some features from the flagship mate x series here as, well. The microphones sounded great to me, your voice was, loud and clear.
Good one Sir Chris✌✌
I like the 3:2 and 16 :10 trend for laptops. There's nothing wrong in playing on these screen ratios. When playing a more demanding game, the resolution can be lowered to 1600x1000, or something that is also 16 :10
but they took so long!
Huawei's laptops are really elegant and best suited for business usage
Not yet available in my country so I had no choice and went for the D15 11th gen 16gb version. No regrets, it's a great laptop and I hate numpads, so it's a good buy. The extra power of the d16 would be great but the D15 does job well.
How are the fans when connected to the socket? are the fans loud?
Please review the Matebook 16S bro
Battery life is the only real con of this device IMO because for the price you're getting a lot of nicer things than competition. For this price range and build quality it's not a problem to get DDR4, lack of dedicated GPU and Thunderbolt 4. I wish it was 8 hours of office workload (documents and a browser).
I was telling myself this is the one until I heard about the battery life
@@hteur1 dont forget the hdmi 2.0 and usb 2.0 ports either
I was hoping to see you demo the eye centering feature of the AI Cam. You also forgot to do this on the X Pro laptop review too!
Oh 😫🤦♂️
Nice review 👍
will you be doing a review on the redmi k50 pro? 😄 do you have any comments on it at the moment?
As always, in depth and very helpful review. 5 star
Thanks for watching!
Can I make 76 hz refresh rate on the screen?
does the i5 variant have a backlit keyboard?
How does it compare to the current Matebook 16 Ryzen ?
Could you review the new LG gram with a dedicated gpu? I'm curious how its editing skills will be
Unlikely I’ll buy one. And sadly I’ve no LG contact that will send me one.
Is this laptop able to cool itself down when used with the lid closed?
Is the battery replaceable?
To me, a matt screen is much more useful than a touch screen.
Get this or the Honour Magic Book 16?
what color option is this, I can't find other than "Mystic Silver" in my country
Please also review the Chuwi ubook x pro
D Series is the budget line right? But this is getting out of that price range I think.
Very good video review, I appreciate.
Is there any difference with Huawei Matebook 16, which one is better?
Do you mean the 16S? It has better cooling and a more premium build the Matebook 16S
@@Techtablets I think he meant the older matebook 16, not the S
Thanks Chris, I’ve just got one recently, and i am facing a problem which is that i am feeling Tingling Electric Current sensation when i am touching the laptop during charging , so any suggestion ?? Cuz its really Annoying :(
You should return it or have it inspected
What about thermals? Is the 1 fan capable on holding the temperature on normal levels or it burns and throttles like hell even on medium tasks? They have a spot and port for 2nd fan but hey didn't put it. I'm worried only for thermals on this laptop.
It likely throttles hard like how the last year's Redmibook Pro 15 does, and the CPU is probably basically cut down because of that. I'd avoid this laptop because of this. Check out the review of the Redmibook Pro 15 from last year - it's super toasty, though it also had a 25W MX450, all with a single fan - but the CPU was rated at 35W
will you review the new redmibooks with the ryzen 6000 cpus ?
Unsure if I’ll buy one.
I love it but what I want to see is a deep dive into the Redmibook 14 Pro 2022.
I cover the 2022 15 inch model but no plans to buy the Redmibook 14 Pro 2022 sorry just too expensive for me.
I think price is a little bit high for that hardware. 600-700 bucks will be nice. Thanks for review
That blackslash key to the right of left-shift is terrible
Does it have charging limiter feature (the stuff that can stop the laptop's battery from keep charging once it reached 80% or 60% of charge) ?
No sadly that’s the only thing it is really missing from the software.
@@Techtablets thank you for answering!
Also remember at the price, £750 it is a solid value device especially pre-order as you get the Mateview GT27 free (worth £250). At that price the ol,der RAM and SSD are to be expected and the Matebook 16S will probably have those at £1299 (free Mateview worth £500).
It's overpriced
£750 is i5 with uhd graphics and 8G ram...🥲, the i7 is 999. you can get better laptops at both prices unfortunately. even if you factor in the mateview monitor you get for free, which only sell for 170 on ebay
Any External SDD works great with good performance for this model Matebook D16 2022 i5? thanks
Yes I have a type c pcie enclosure with a 512GB pcie 3 sss inside and transfer speeds are over 1200mbs
@@Techtablets thanks, I'll search one
@@Techtablets could you share brands - models? thanks
the webcam looks really good omg
It is and I’m glad to see more brands like Huawei have finally improved webcam quality.
It is and I’m glad to see more brands like Huawei have finally improved webcam quality.
I don’t really understand why Huawei doesn’t implement dedicated GPUs on laptops
Same here bro
There is little money in that market as other brands are established and getting any sort of market share will just waste money. Samsung does not really do it either (prosumer). There are plenty of options if you need a dGPU. The ultrabook market is much larger and Huawei can make it pay.
Because their laptops are frankly mediocre. Xiaomi can pull it off with the Redmibook Pro 15 2022 (actually it's a 16" screen), which are also very well priced. The specs of the Redmibook Pro 15 are also more impressive.
Would be better if they release it with 6800u 😌
@@ashraffendy2010 Why release it with the 6800U if there's the perfectly fine 6800H that is faster
The numpad is a waste of space for a laptop. Better audio and better spaced, larger keys are a better deal.
💯
is it support ddr5 ? and can we change the ram ?
You can't upgrade it.
bro pkco f4
I don't think that there are laptops with numpads and a truly centered mousepad. It wouldn't make much sense considering you write on the keyboard most of time time and not on the numpad.
Personally I'd rather opt for a bigger laptop without one purely for aesthetical reasons. I can make due with the number row even while programming (But I understand why most people want a numpad).
The question is: This d16 or the amd 16?
Depends on the price and specs
I hate numb pads... It's doesn't let trackpad sit on the middle
Numpad finally 👍
Yes 🙌
D16 or 16. That is the question.
Thanks a lot
16 because its has a much better screen resolution (2,5k) and battery capacity (84wh). I hope (and wait) for a new version of Matebook 16 with Ryzen 7 6800 + 2,5k resolution + 84wh battery capacity.
@@rickgoethe i agree except the screen is less bright and incredibly reflective
I am thinking to buy this laptop is it worth buying please let me know
It is worth it if you don’t need a dedicated GPU
Hi hooriya how to I contact with you
Great review Chris as always. What I feel is that this Laptop has unbalanced hardware in the 1st place, and unable to use the full potential of the CPU it has which I understood by looking at that 65W Charger. Intel H series Alder Lake CPUs alone need 70W or more for even reaching closer to its max potential and here the 65W is for everything, for the whole laptop. That clearly indicates that the CPU is heavily power limited in this Laptop. I think they should have gone with Alder Lake 28W P series Processors like i5-1240P or i7-1260P to lower the price even further. Also, a basic dedicated Graphics like Nvidia MX550 or MX570 would have been a great choice as both are good amount of faster than Iris Xe with 96/80 EU (based on i7 or i5). Also, as you've mentioned, lacking Thunderbolt is another disadvantage here. Currently Thunderbolt / USB 4 functionality is fully integrated to Intel 11th and 12th Gen CPU and can be enabled without any extra cost. I think omission of that is not for cost reduction but to distinguish it from their more premium MateBook X series.
What a pity that Huawei decided to make an involution in screen resolution. From 2.5k to fullhd... And the battery capacity too: from 84wh to 60wh...
Esp the battery...
is it better for coding?
Yes, with a 16:10 screen, u can see a lot from code then other 15.6 laptops
So this one or the Redmibook pro?
Edit: I guess that is not a question after all, after seeing the price point of this.
I guess it`s good value for the price. But lacking TB4 really is a problem cause that means no reasonable EGPU Support.
So you`ll only get that cpu and that`s it. no gaming with it. Or even medium graphic work. Doesn`t seem futureproof to me. They should at least have put an mx570 in this as an option So that you get decent work performance with this.
This is a glorious phoenix in a cage with not way to open it.
The wifi port can be converted into eGPU slot though😈
Btw you should wait for Ryzen 7/9 6th gen, the rumor has it that its iGPU can perform as good as GTX1070
@@someoneyouneverknow7529 Fair enough. I like stadia personally. Still Cloud gaming is not yet the big thing although I think it might be in 10 years.
Redmibook Pro 15 all the way. Much better specs and there's also an RTX 2050 option if you want better gaming and video rendering performance. And especially if you want a Ryzen 7 6800H laptop, the Redmibook Pro 15 is the go-to choice, it's got great cooling for that chip. My Redmibook Pro 15 with the Ryzen 7 6800H and no discrete GPU gets 2850 points in Time Spy, so you can still game on it no problem, basically the best value for your money with that APU. The performance in games beats GTX 1050 Ti Mobile laptops.
Hard to justify as Lenovo and others are coming out with new Intel/Rzyen CPU's, DDR5, TB4, etc
They don't have a 16" screen though
1:26 thats not HuaWei Logo, it says I3MVnH😂🤣🤪
🤣😂 true
@@Techtablets 😁
I regret buying my matebook d15 as it has 6-bit display only. but this one is I think the not at all
This one isn't 6bit
Can you game on it and can you upgrade it's RAM and Memory.
Yes as shown you can game. But no RAM upgrades it would be soldered onto the motherboard
@@Techtablets that's disappointing, for the price you can buy a cheap gaming laptop.
Can't imagine the battery life is good on this thing
Almost 7 hours but taking it very easy like loads and 30% anything demanding and it does drop right off to 5 hours or less.
60 Hz in this day and age.
enjoy the stutter.
Yeah well other models I've covered have 90hz.
thank you for replying. I really like your videos. I guess it's only recently that laptops are starting to get 120hz or higher displays especially the "gaming laptops" are. me getting used to high refresh rate displays, I simply can't go back to a 60 Hz anymore. I really hope Huawei, Xiaomi or other value oriented company makes a similar laptop but with a high refresh rate display.@@Techtablets

You forgot the battery life..😢
Mentioned it at the end of the video.
more e-waste
incredible but this is even more overpriced than apple
Oh, the new CCP laptop, nice
You creepy gullible.
😂🤣🤣😂
This is unironically why I'm considering a Huawei AMD laptop. More likely I'll get spied from China than the US. I'd rather take the ones on the other side of the world.
😭😂
Lmao
It's far better than iMac in my experience
It is :)
