  • Thursday, 6/5/2014 - The Atlanta metro gets its first good dose of severe weather. And it was a good un'! Reminiscent of the storm that struck almost a year ago to the day - 6/13/13. (See my archive). Not only was the storm badass, but it left in it's wake one of the most bizarre skies I've ever seen. Including a rainbow. A rainbow in a thunderstorm under red skies. WAY cool. Very bizarre. GO THUNDERSTORMS! Enjoy

    Nice storm!! I had a similar storm like this in Adams,NY on June 17,2014. We had two severe thunderstorms in a row. The first one wasn't that strong. Only some lightning and rain. The second one was strong alright! It was cloud to ground lightning,hail, loud thunder, pouring rain, and even a tornado.

    What a view of the city and the storm. Summers here pop up thunderstorms

      Thanks Jon! I shot most of it from my girlfriend's balcony & parking deck. Her apartment has a perfect vantage point for storm watching. We usually get pop-up storms too, but this particular storm was higher caliber.

    Are good storms a regular occurrence in ATL?

    I had to drive through this. It was my first time driving in such conditions. It was scary. Awesome video!

      WHAT!? Dude, that is NOT driving weather. Are you learning to drive or something? That's one hell of a lesson! But probably one that you need to experience

      No I was just driving home from dinner. I actually wanted to drive through it. Now I can brag that I drove through a severe storm on the interstate at night during a traffic jam. It was scary but it was really fun!

    Another awesome video! As I said in one of your other videos, you are just like me! I am a huge lover of summer thunderstorms! If I had been there on that day, I would have been doing the same thing you did, meaning filming it if I could! That's the south and midwest for ya during the summer months as I said! Great job!

      Thanks Evan! Glad you enjoyed it! I've been in a serious severe weather drought lately, so this is just what the doctor ordered. 3 more weeks for you! Just watch out for floods. I hear that's a big problem out there

    Great video, every time we get hit I stand outside during the course of the entire thunderstorm, unless I'm getting rained on and have no choice but do go inside, or the garage I'm always out in them. A tornado could go right by me and I'll just wave at it and hope I don't get sucked in by the RFD

      DUDE, me too. I'm like a magnet for storms man. I want to be as close to them as possible, regardless of how dangerous. Rain is a pain in the ass though. Not only does it spoil photo-ops, but it prevents you from standing outside & immersing yourself in it

    Rain is good with a lot of CTG lightning, lowers the chances of starting a massive fire...

    • @mlcochran78
      @mlcochran78  10 лет назад

      I suppose that's true. It sure does make it hard to shoot pics of the lightning though.

    Matt, send in some if the footage to the Weather Channel. With narration would be a plus. :).

    • @mlcochran78
      @mlcochran78  10 лет назад

      Thanks Karl! The Weather Channel actually purchased rights to use clips from my Winter Storm Traffic Jam vid in a prototype show called "So You Think You'd Survive". That was some of my best narration ever. But I'll try shooting this vid over to the same folks. Who knows. Maybe they'll pay me again

      Erik PAPATIE HA! Ok Erik. I'll remain completely still. In the face of all violent environmental factors - incuding bow echo wind, torrential blowing rain & frequent cloud to ground lightning. Not to mention the excitement. My god the excitement. But I'll be still from now on

    Windage, gust front, lens splatter, Nini, cats, baseball sized hail is something we all look forward to. Did you say Adelaide? That aftersky was pretty fuckin orange.

    • @mlcochran78
      @mlcochran78  10 лет назад +1

      Oh yeah Big B. This storm is an example of what I've been hoping for since the beginning of Spring. Adelaide is Lindsay's cat. She's entirely too loud. I don't think the video did the sky any justice. I have NEVER seen anything like that before
