I'm with Nathan on this. I understand we do not know of Nate Jacob's true intentions for giving Jules the CD. Even though he did that, it does not take away from how he traumatized Maddy or abused her, etc. No matter how tough Maddy is, that situation would traumatize anyone. To compare Nate to Cassie is completely unfair. Cassie has issues for sure. But, Nate is obviously taking advantage of her issues and also manipulating and abusing her. He is isolating her from her friends and family as we can see. I understand she chose to go to him, but he literally said I love you to her, that is the validation she is seeking and he knows that. Cassie is a character that you can sympathize with in season 1 with wanting to be loved, but season 2 takes that concept from 10 to 1000 with Cassie losing a lot of her braincells. She was emotionally driven in a lot of her decision making in season 1 and 2, but she had some common sense in season 1 and knows about Nate's abusive behavior. Granted it does go to show how good of a manipulator Nate is, but it also ruins Cassie's character.

Cassie is a character that you can sympathize with in season 1 with wanting to be loved, but season 2 takes that concept from 10 to 1000 with Cassie losing a lot of her braincells. She was emotionally driven in a lot of her decision making in season 1 and 2, but she had some common sense in season 1 and knows about Nate's abusive behavior. Granted it does go to show how good of a manipulator Nate is, but it also ruins Cassie's character.

In season 1, most of Cassie's decision could be morally ambiguous or at least have some reason for her actions. Season 2 makes it much less grey, and Cassie's choices are indefensible this season around.

yall say jules liked shyguy and not nate and while that's true, you're not considering that shyguy IS nate. especially since he just said that everything he ever said as shyguy was true, the fact is that shyguy is basically the small part of nate that is still good. so jules does like nate, she just likes a certain part of him, but (understandably) isn't willing to deal with the other parts of him (the anger/violence issues, the manipulation, etc.)

Nate is actually right here for maybe the only time in the series so far; in that it's up to Jules to decide what she wants with the tape. It should be her decision if she wants the authorities to see it. And as we see later, she was clearly not "fine" with it; she destroyed it immediately after watching it. She doesn't want anyone to see it. Nate did the right thing there.

Of course you would say the death but the fact that your father is alive and doesn’t want anything to do with your life is the same thing. Nate is the worst character. But my hypothesis about why are we all hating so much on Cassie it’s because at some point we felt sympathy for her, so it’s like a betrayal to see her making awful choices and being selfish. And on the other hand, Nate has never been someone appreciated or you can pity, so at this point he’s just someone you can’t even despise or like. He’s just useful for the plot.
