Rush in BFBC2 is the most intense multiplayer experience I've had in a game. There is nothing quite like attacking/defending the last M-COM in that rickety portacabin that had no cover on Arica Harbor when the attacking team only has a few tickets left. Mayhem. "Playercount isn't everything in a Battlefield game". Thank you! Everyone seems so possessed about big player counts but I think that isn't necessarily what BF needs. A good example in my eyes are Operations in BF1. With 64 players they where a (quite enjoyable) chaotic clusterfuck. With 40 players they felt so much more tactical, because not every square inch of the map was covered in like 5 enemies. 64 players is fine for conquest but not every game mode needs that number. The other important thing is, that DICE needs to start do build the maps around certain game modes. It feels so lazy and cool modes like Rush suffer for it.
Also customization, everybody just keeps saying how they want more of it while back in bfbc2 customization was very limited and yet tons of people still love the game.

I think one of the most important and overlooked characteristics is that it was smaller scale, 32 players and map design was clearly made with Rush in mind which is why this gamemode was always so good in BC2 and not as much afterwards. You can take any map and make it work with Conquest easily, Rush NEEDS to be designed well and fitting CQ maps into it clearly didn't work as good. Also less players encourages more tactical playstyle, there isn't as much mindless chaos and also vehicles felt like they held more weight in terms of being a team asset.
The dynamic destruction in this game blew my mind back in the day, I had never seen a building fall in a game ever before. Best BF game ever, in my opinion it's better than BF3.
Like a lot of people, BC2 was my entry to the series. I liked being useful without having great shooter skills, and functioning as part of a team. The map design was perfect for me -- the way urban areas were used as combat focal points was far more exciting to me than the big open maps and long corridors of BF3. Squad Deathmatch was super tense in BC2 as well. I wish Battlefield would revisit some of its design philosophies. The closest thing used to be Domination, but with BFV's stupid chapter system they got rid of that.
You should definitely mention the Vietnam expansion. Personally I've never been interested in modern day combat games but that Vietnam DLC is the best Vietnam videogame experience to this day!
Trying to piece together what makes this game so great is so difficult but honestly, the main reason it was so damn fun to me is simply because it's extremely satisfying. Literally everything in the game is satisfying - from the sounds, the graphics, the animations, the weapons, the story, the destruction, the sniping, the vehicles.. honestly just everything. This game was so far ahead of it's time.
agreed. I put it up there amongst the best DLC for any game I've played. but especially in the battlefield franchise. I mean, hardline was worse than vietnam and it was a "fully fledged" title.
Yeah it often gets somewhat ignored whenever people talk about this game which I think is nuts because Vietnam is BC2 for me. I maybe spent 15% of my playtime in the base game and 85% in the Vietnam dlc.
The developers have said this before. They couldn't figure out why people loved it so much as they didn't think it would even be a huge hit when it came out. They couldn't create bc3 because they didn't know how to capture the magic again. Honestly the time period is part of it. We didn't have many games like this, I remember thinking this was the most realistic game I'd ever seen, the sounds, the smoke, explosions, destruction. Weapons felt heavy and the gunshots had a mean sound to them. Africa harbor is the nostalgia pot for me. I remember when I was 6 or 7, my brother found bf 1942 at Walmart. Played every battlefield since except for bc1, 2142 and hardline.
This was the game that really did it for me when it comes to BF games. So many hours of my adolescence were spent playing BC2. Lots of nostalgia :) Thanks, Jack.
This was the best online game ever. The hours we played this. Can't believe the servers are still working. Rushed into the loft and got the PS3 out. And yes it's still working!!!! But nobody's playing it unfortunately.
I think everyone did have that one cousin, the one that's more like a sibling. My cousin turned me on to bf with bc and 3 because I was cod before that
We told DICE a million times what we want and how to make BC3 but they are so out of touch with their fans. Maybe theyll finally listen after that shit show they call BFV.
The Bloody Doctor DICE is dead. No way they’re gonna recover from BV5. Nor should they. They absolutely treated us fans like shit and sold us out for 12 year olds with their fort night like character models, micrtransactions, passive spotting, long as fuck TTK, always changing gun mechanics. Fuck Dice I hope they go under. It’s time they got replaced by a company who actually gives a fuck about gaming.
@@vhscopyofseinfeld i'd agree with you but the reality is no one else is making something like battlefield so.... i will keep hoping they see the error of their ways...
You would think as technology moved forward they would carry the destruction over to the next game and dial it up every release? How did they manage to go backwards.
I sort of feel like they wanted the games from BF3 onwards to feel more grounded in some way. Like "This is the map, go and play it" rather than "This is the map, have fun". BF3 definitely holds a special place in my heart, but it's nothing compared to BC2
BF3/4 had big city maps with less destruction, BC2 is mostly rural and small towns. Some maps like BF4 Golmud or BF1 St. Quentin are pretty comparable to BC2 destruction
It is basically nonsense to cut a whole fence in half in one slash. What's it good for in the first place then? Being able to climb over it replaced it and it slows you down somewhat as it should. Logical decision to me.
I absolutely love this game! The first time I used a 40mm grenade to blow a hole in a wall and stormed through instead of using a door it blew my mind. And once I got the enhanced vision perk with the tank and UAV I was hooked. There's a guy on my Xbox friends list who still plays this game to this day.
This is my favorite shooter of all time. If they remastered the graphics but kept EVERYTHING else the same, I would be soooooo happy. The destruction is the main thing that sets it so far apart from all other games
I’m just sad out of that whole conversation you didn’t once mention the Vietnam dlc which in battle field terms was the best dlc and personally the only game that actually made me feel like I was in Vietnam because of how good the maps were
@@aaronpaananen8977 no he is right, mpre graphical horsepower made everyone put way too much detail and color everywhere making it hard to focus sometimes
Games like MW2 and BC2 were so colourful, but now in 2020, content creators are having to make videos telling their fans what the best options and settings are for maximum visibility.
So I'm not alone in this. I tend to get really annoyed for the number of times I die in BF4 and 1, and the guy was just crouched right where I looked 5 seconds before and didn't see him there. I put the brightness on the maximum, decreased the details levels, and still I can't see. I have some problems in my vision, but seeing more people complaining makes me think if it's really just my eyes then...
I agree. BF 5 I've stopped playing because I have trouble seeing enemys. In BF 4 and 1 it was ok, but now in 5 it's hopeless if they prone in some rubbles.
yeah, the vehicle gameplay felt great, as did the ANTI-VEHICLE gameplay - it was such a satisfying feeling taking down enemy armour. there was just something so meaty and addictive about BC2's gameplay that allowed me to overlook the countless bugs and atrocious hit detection
This was my first Battlefield. since then I have been spamming C4 on friendly UAV and have my teammates fly it to the enemy MCOM station. Hahaha, those were the days, now most of us are all married and have kids. But this game will forever remain as my favorite Battlefield of all time.
A couple of months ago I went back and played it again, found one server with about 6 other people on Xbox, just enough to have a little wave of nostalgia. I remember the destruction blowing my mind
For me personally, this was my favorite Battlefield. I haven’t enjoyed the franchise as much since then. I hope they can give a similar feel in an upcoming game
I remember seeing this on sale at Big Lots when I was in middle school. I went home and watched videos between BC2 and Modern Warfare. Ended up getting BC2 as my first ever fps game and I fell in love with shooters and Battlefield overall.
The memory of tanks coming down the hill, starting with a village and ending the round with a field that has some rubble on it... probably the shooter i enjoyed the most!
This was the game that got me into battlefield. One of my favorites. Battlefield 3 is the game that got me through the roughest years of my life. I will always have a place in my heart for those two games.

@@londontasker217 For me it's battlefield 2142. You can hate on the futuristic aspects, but the game had so much interesting stuff going on with the funky gadgets and vehicles. It was massive fun. I couldn't even play Titan mode on my shitty pc back then but still managed to put over 2000 hours in the game. Weapons were fine and when the expansion hit it just added more crazy fun stuff to the party.
Got into battlefield with this game. Everything and I mean EVERYTHING about this game was to be desired. While cod was a different breed I immediately understood why the battlefield series was well regarded. Factoring for the bullet drop was something I liked as it made the game feel a bit more genuine than cod. Hoping to see a good battlefield game in the future.
Still my favorite out all all the Battlefield games and by quite some way , gun play felt better than any other FPS , balance was pretty spot on and map design was quality , i was stoked when a rumor started circulating of a possible remaster/remake of BC2 but i gather with your comment near the end and knowing who you know that this is not going to happen ( or was this a swerve )
Guys, BC2 still alive to this day on PC! I strongly suggest you to buy it on steam or origin (they share the same server). We play it everyday with full servers! A must-have game specially for people who does not have a gaming PC.
This was my childhood game. I remember before headsets I would call my friend on the house phone (we had free calls to eachother thanks to same provider) and play all day everyday. Simple times.
@The Bloody Doctor Well I started with BFBC and BF2 but I don't think they are the best. BF1 is different but does what it does well, appart from most of the maps being too small and restrictive. BF4 is fun and has lots of content, but still heaps of issues. BF3 felt more polished, had a better campain and better muliplayer with better scaling. BF4's maps are on par if not better than BF3 with BF4 including some of BF3's best maps.
I think this series has always been up and down. I started with BC2 and BC2: Vietnam which were my favorites. BF3 was really good, but not as fun as BC2. BF4 felt too similar to BF3, it was stale and I barely played it. Hardline, well I don’t even know what they were thinking with that. Then BF1 was a huge leap forward in coolness and fun. I really enjoyed that one. Never played BF5. For me I’d rate them BC2, BF1, BF3, BF4, Hardline.
This was my introduction into the Battlefield series, I played this game just about every day after school as a kid.

This game was so far ahead of it's time.
For me the most satisfying was knifing someone from behind or in a firefight
I love the little cutscenes at the end of every match. It makes the game feels impacting.
I’m surprised he didn’t talk about the Vietnam dlc I loved that dlc
He did in previous video
agreed. I put it up there amongst the best DLC for any game I've played. but especially in the battlefield franchise. I mean, hardline was worse than vietnam and it was a "fully fledged" title.
That’s the only good part of BC2 imo, hate the base game.
Pickle Chin I loved BC2 but I spent way more time with the Vietnam DLC, it was so much fun
Yeah it often gets somewhat ignored whenever people talk about this game which I think is nuts because Vietnam is BC2 for me. I maybe spent 15% of my playtime in the base game and 85% in the Vietnam dlc.
This game was so good that it's probably the reason they never made a part 3. They didn't know how to capture that magic again.
Whole heartedly agree, it's just not happening because they can't really make it happen; it'd be a successor solely in title and not spirit ;(
The developers have said this before.
Lots of nostalgia :)
Thanks, Jack.
The RUSH gamemode hasn't been the same since.
So true
Damn that was my favorite mode...
no capppppppp :(
It was almost endless at times
I loved it
best ever! and the maps were designed for that mode back then. not anymore tho...
This was the best online game ever. The hours we played this. Can't believe the servers are still working. Rushed into the loft and got the PS3 out. And yes it's still working!!!! But nobody's playing it unfortunately.
I loved this game so much, I remember when my cousin lived with me and we would take turns playing this. Good, good, times.
I know right.when I play this now there is sooooooo less poeple.😭😭😭😭
I know right.when I play this now it's just mostly bots.sad
Yea me and my cousin to. But we aren't that close anymore which sucks.
@@altered5874 Same wtf. Did everyone have that one cousin? 😂
I really hope so. It was such a cliffhanger after 2. I fully expected them to explore BC3 after BF4 at least. But no :(
@The Bloody Doctor they can do it
The Bloody Doctor DICE is dead.
@The Bloody Doctor The series was dead until 2019? Maybe compared to their peak? Lol
@@vhscopyofseinfeld i'd agree with you but the reality is no one else is making something like battlefield so.... i will keep hoping they see the error of their ways...
Playing this game shaped my life. The different areas of conflict made me study geography for my major!
I can still remember the intense tank duels on Heavy Metal. Man this game is great
I still play this game LOL
@@faithingod9554 me too
@@gregorionuara8361 I just got it lmao, i come from BF3

Oh my god the battlefield bc2 theme in the background, this game. The memories. Thanks jack!
There still hasn’t been a battlefield that’s been as good
I still play this game on PS3 LOL the best
bf2142 was better, shame so few of the younger players ever played it, awesome balance, teamwork, vehicles and gadgets.
Agreed!
*angry bf1 noises*
Battlefield 1 IN MY OPINION came close, but this was just so good
You would think as technology moved forward they would carry the destruction over to the next game and dial it up every release? How did they manage to go backwards.
they downgraded in bf3 and bf4 bc in bc2 there wouldn't be no cover by the end of the game
Nate and that was okay! Just take more time
Basically once a company believes it's own hype they stop making fun games and make a fancy engine and build games that are tech demos for the engine.
Whyd they ever take away being able to knife through fences
Round start: someone across the map goes "Hooah!" and you hear a fence break
Shit still trips me up sometimes 😅 I bet there were a few snipers that have seen me try knifing my way through a fence 😂
It is basically nonsense to cut a whole fence in half in one slash. What's it good for in the first place then? Being able to climb over it replaced it and it slows you down somewhat as it should. Logical decision to me.
I still instinctively try and knife fences in FPS' like Warzone now.
@@ShapeshifteR-TheAnomalyGameCat it's a game, not a simulator... If I want "close to real life" experience I'd choose ARMA
This was hands down the best Battlefield game in the series. In my opinion.
Just love listening Jack talk about BF. Its match made in heaven
the british vibe of jacks amazing
I absolutely love this game! The first time I used a 40mm grenade to blow a hole in a wall and stormed through instead of using a door it blew my mind. And once I got the enhanced vision perk with the tank and UAV I was hooked. There's a guy on my Xbox friends list who still plays this game to this day.
This is my favorite shooter of all time. If they remastered the graphics but kept EVERYTHING else the same, I would be soooooo happy. The destruction is the main thing that sets it so far apart from all other games
I’m just sad out of that whole conversation you didn’t once mention the Vietnam dlc which in battle field terms was the best dlc and personally the only game that actually made me feel like I was in Vietnam because of how good the maps were
Not to mention the stereotypical Vietnam songs playing on every vehicle radio
Ever play battlefield Vietnam?
So immersive. Really fucking good game, especially that dlc.
I was surprised to see that I instantly recognised every single location immediately. Definitely my favourite BF game.
One of most epic game music scores Snowy Mountains each time I hear it I feel nostalgic for this amazing game
I loved this game because you could see everything. I don’t know what it’s about BF or Cod now days but I can’t see anything.
Super Spice yeah aye. I’ve just started to wonder if it’s a part of getting older though.
I've never clicked something so fast in my life. This is my favorite game of ALL time.
Playing games after school ; oh my god! that's one of the best feeling someone can get
I'm really proud that this was my first battlefield experience.
The vehicles in this game were the best. They felt so BEEFY and real. In each game since they just feel like tin cans.
Also the guns, felt realistic
True. The grenades and explosions were so arcade and subdued in BF4. Especially the grenade launcher rounds. Wtf were those tiny things?
Battlefield 1 brought that back with sound, visuals, the rush type game modes. Very fun game before the final few DLC’s.
Facts
yeah, the vehicle gameplay felt great, as did the ANTI-VEHICLE gameplay - it was such a satisfying feeling taking down enemy armour. there was just something so meaty and addictive about BC2's gameplay that allowed me to overlook the countless bugs and atrocious hit detection
This was my first Battlefield. since then I have been spamming C4 on friendly UAV and have my teammates fly it to the enemy MCOM station. Hahaha, those were the days, now most of us are all married and have kids. But this game will forever remain as my favorite Battlefield of all time.
Indeed comrade
A couple of months ago I went back and played it again, found one server with about 6 other people on Xbox, just enough to have a little wave of nostalgia. I remember the destruction blowing my mind
I have it on Xbox one as well. One server dang.
Lots of servers on PC, a potato can probably run this game nowadays
@@sider122 I bought it on steam and for some reason I can't see any servers.
Theres alot of players on PC.
SkelliesStuff hit refresh when u look for servers lol
Imagine if they remastered the game like how cod remastered some of their games
If they do remaster it needs to be the FULL game, like Modern Warfare Remastered. Not just the campaign like MW2 Remastered

For me personally, this was my favorite Battlefield. I haven’t enjoyed the franchise as much since then. I hope they can give a similar feel in an upcoming game
Same although BF3 came close and i really enjoyed MoH 2010 aswell (i know, i know.. I must be crazy lol)
I remember seeing this on sale at Big Lots when I was in middle school. I went home and watched videos between BC2 and Modern Warfare. Ended up getting BC2 as my first ever fps game and I fell in love with shooters and Battlefield overall.
I chose battlefield as my first too.
I would like to see BF:BC2 Remastered, best game ever.
I've played every Battlefield game and this one is still my favorite.
I love the "Hollywood" sound design in bfbc2 compared to the modern realistic sound in bf3 and bf4
The weapons in 3 and 4 all sound the same.
Does anyone remember playing the "DEMO" of this game?? :D ... definitely part of the reason I raced out to buy it on release.
Port Valdez great demo
Yep
Oh yeah, i didn't know what was it about when i download it, I remember that u just got deployed in a parachute to start the battle, it was new for me but when u started to see everything the game has to offer, damn, u just couldn't let it go, great times :')
I do remember almost every station from Port Valdez... That was the perfect demo map. Got me into buying it
i almost dropped a tear watching this footage i miss this game so much bf2042 trailer brought me back here
Absolutely my favorite battlefield game. I started with this and it holds a special place in my heart.
Good to see people still play this. I had so much fun with it on my PS3. They need to make BC3!
So glad you did this video! It was so nostalgic for me! I remember just being out of high school and now I’m almost thirty. God feels like yesterday
Best sound design in any game I've ever played.
You can enable “war tapes” sound thingy in bf4 and bf1.
@@trippybruh1592 what's that do?

Let's not forget how good the Vietnam expansion was too, thought that went under the radar a bit
completely under the radar
I loved this expansion. One of my favorite expansions ever
Got banned on so many Vietnam servers because I was too skilled, that's the reason why I stopped playing, I know it sounds arrogant but it's true ;)
I still play this game from time to time and it fills me with such a warm fuzzy feeling.
I don't give a damn what anyone says. This is the best Battlefield of ALL TIME. Better than BF3 4 AND BF1.
Bf5 is just discounted
💯 OGs know this is the best
Bf5 ??
@@londontasker217 For me it's battlefield 2142. You can hate on the futuristic aspects, but the game had so much interesting stuff going on with the funky gadgets and vehicles. It was massive fun. I couldn't even play Titan mode on my shitty pc back then but still managed to put over 2000 hours in the game. Weapons were fine and when the expansion hit it just added more crazy fun stuff to the party.
Afwasmiddel never played it. You’re even more OG than me
Got into battlefield with this game.
Sound design was excellent as well. Felt like such a top notch game at the time.

Rush is my absolute favorite, and there isn't a single server for it anymore on bfv... :(
Rush was the best...
5 used have Rush? I was late to that game but its my favorite since bc2
Sniping someone through a window, a mile away, across the map, with a 12g shotgun slug was very fun lmao
Ha yes, and the multiple angry messages that followed it, usually by angry guys from the UAE "you hacker, i fuck your mother". Great game.
And since this game, slugs have only been a gimmick.
@@Ram2rol *Laughes in BF3 slugs*
Still my favorite out all all the Battlefield games and by quite some way , gun play felt better than any other FPS , balance was pretty spot on and map design was quality , i was stoked when a rumor started circulating of a possible remaster/remake of BC2 but i gather with your comment near the end and knowing who you know that this is not going to happen ( or was this a swerve )
Tbh maps like Atacama Desert and Laguna Alta were really crappy balanced in conquest mode way too often.. One big baserape.
Guys, BC2 still alive to this day on PC! I strongly suggest you to buy it on steam or origin (they share the same server). We play it everyday with full servers! A must-have game specially for people who does not have a gaming PC.
Every time I would fire that m95 it’s like thunder and the sound echoes off everything.
Been saying this for years, this game audio design puts other fps to shame, even bf titles.
Ahhhhh... BC2... How I miss those days! I was still alive inside back then..
The_Lost_87 It’s just the horrible feeling of not being able to enjoy such pure, unadulterated moments of fun no more.
This was my childhood game. I remember before headsets I would call my friend on the house phone (we had free calls to eachother thanks to same provider) and play all day everyday. Simple times.
The series started to do downhill after this for me. Even BF3 wasn't as enjoyable and strategic. the best BF game imo
Bf3 had a high regard for most players. It’s BF4 that was disappointing. It still feels unpolished.
Agree, I hated BF3 and never bought BF4. I still play BC2 and wouldn’t mind dusting off BC1 but I seriously doubt I could find a server worth playing.
`Sniping and arica harbor. I miss it. Also the Single player was epic.

BC2 is my favorite game in the whole series, but I love BF3 nearly just as much. I'm glad I got to experience this game when it was in its heyday.
God I loved this game so much. Also the trailer in the end is just incredible, didn't see it in a looong time. Thx Jack! Quite a love letter to BC2.
I loved using the m95 the most. Hitting bodyshots from close enough was a one hit kill, it was so much fun
