This is why it’s named after composer Steve Reich, by playing two riffs at different tempo/time signature, they obtain something called Phasing, something his whole early career was based on, first tape loop works and then full on orchestral pieces experimenting on this sonic phenomenon.
@@alexandergilman3394 great! Make sure to use the one called yt2mp3 or something and close any pop ups. I've used it heaps and didn't get any viruses (thankfully)
It's a fucking shame that this never got a studio recording. Truly one of the most beautiful pieces from this era of godspeed.
How I wish that these ended up on an album... they capture the feeling of cosmic loneliness.
gotta love the conflicting 3/4 & 7/8 guitar riffs. I dont remember them ever doing this in other songs but now Im gonna relisten to see.

@@geoffroyclop This is not phasing, it is polymeter. Phasing (as in Piano Phase, It's Gonna Rain, Violin Phase) mandates two different tempi.
sounds like something that could have figured in "yanqui u.x.o"
Big thanks to gybe subreddit, I have now got a chance dive deeper into the gybe lore
this song changed my life
Doing Godspeed's work
fantastic...
So fucking amazing
When is this recording from?
First half is VPRO Sessions, second is BBC Sessions. Both 1998.
Love the conflict in time sigs, but together it makes a bigger cocophony. Truly sublime
How can I find a download for this version?
I mean you can just look up a RUclips to mp3 converter
@@idontknow-re9dx Thanks! That worked nicely.
