Thank you! I never knew that. I had this track on a burned CD from college and was able to transfer it to my computer, but lost it during a small flood in my home. I could never figure out why the voice sounded “off,” but now I know why. Much appreciated!
can't tell if the insane preacher bit is meant to show the beauty of finding god(like actually experiencing the void/egodeath/lsd max peak experience) or if the monologue is meant to show the tragedy of someone utterly failing to integrate such an earth shattering mental experience, thus leaving them totally "out of touch" as they feel they have "seen the truth" and via the filter of their own ego, have totally ruined the moment of enlightenment, by "missing the point entirely".. The Zen Buddhists would call this "Zen Sickness"
There was a rumor going round a few years ago that this sample and one from another album, of an 'agitated homeless person on the streets of Providence, RI' were actually completely made-up. Fake found sound...don't tell Donald Trump LOL.
I was listening to a version of this and wondered to myself what it was "about". The first thing that popped into my head was that it was displaying the deep sadness of spiritual desperation: People searching for significance, a point and purpose to life and all its suffering, an answer from God(s), even if it seems insane and pathetic. Then it struck me like a truck: In the album "Life Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven", the song this is featured in is called "Static". We're trying to tune in so we can hear the voice, the music that will help us understand... and we hear static.
brilliant been looking for this for a while, i lost my bootleg. They turned steve reich into 'take these hands and throw them in the river' on the mt zion 2001 release
@@JonJonJonJonJonJonJonJon series what??? I'm sorry for being a bother but you don't think it's better if you expand more and what do you mean by the information or they'll give you a liar
some of them are just random biblical images, a lot of them are just members of the band, the weird drawings are old liner notes from released albums (mostly F#A#)
uhhh, no. They sound nothing alike. BBFIII appears on the track named after him, and on Providence. The Chart #3 guy is someone else, a recording from some evangelist's speech or something.
Its a woman talking. Its pitch is altered which makes it even more ethereal, more chilling. I absolutely adore this version.

Or maybe the delusion of a god is as real as the "real" god

I believe it's the latter

There is only this life.
The best version of this song, far and away. Dear god, this is lovely.

This is truly a masterpiece
Wrote a cool riff in lydian and was like "wait a minute..." yep, accidentally wrote one of the riffs from Steve Reich
mon hymne personnel !
The Urim and Thummin, the lesser lights, as close as we can get in this life...a DMT trip,....a glimpse of God...that's what GYBE music is, also...
have been trying to find this for so long. thank you
Recording of Helene Spring DeBoe
Every time I see lyrics to this, it misses the reference to Urim and Thummim, and instead says oarman summon.
very nice!
Who is that speaking? Where did they find that sample?
It’s a deleted scene from the first series of the Big Bang theory.

The woman speaking is "Helene Spring DeBoe".
Just google her name and you'll find tons of information.
that has to be john malkovich's voice in the beginning, no? i am bamboozled as to how it got there
Nope! The voice is an Evangelical radio preacher from Florida named Helene DeBoe.
Can someone explain the pictures in the background? Are they album cover/arts or something related??

WOW! This is beautiful. Where does the sampled voice come from? Thanks for posting!
It's actually a woman preacher's voice from the radio, slowed down to make it sound androgynous.
A decade late, but.... :) ruclips.net/video/mPn7FxSOLHI/видео.html
Pentecostal preacher based in Florida. Her name is Helene DeBoe
why so sure? did they mention it somewhere? these two pieces sound pretty different to me.
