Bleach speeches hit harder then most anime speeches. Most of the time I zone out during speeches in other animes, but when I watch bleach I give it my full attention and truly think about it. These character's were written so well, ideologies clashing, some of them fight for no reason other then to shed blood, and some characters have no will to fight at all, yet they all remain important to the story in some way regardless. Amazing
The funny thing is that have some of the best characters in anime, but the overall plot is one of the worst in anime.
If you aren't willing to fight, then you aren't willing to protect what is important to you. Don't go looking for fights, look for the power that you gain from them that leads you to gaining the means to protect what is yours!
You want power? No? Fine!
You want to protect those you care about? Then you *do* want power! You *do* want to fight! Only a child wants this sort of greed without the means to achieve it!
So if you truly want to protect, prove yourself! Show me your desire for power! Your desire to fight! Show me how your greed stacks up against mine!

Completely disagree to be honest. There's people out there who, like kenpachi at the time of the quote, do it simply because struggle is their entire reason for existing. Same way longtime veterans or convicts have a hard time adapting to regular life once they get out. It's sort of a "what now?" Feeling.

i so agree sir! i invite you to read about dostoevsky's thought about the man also! i believe it was in "Notes from the undeground". he said that the man even if you give him everything he needs and desires and put him in paraside..he will eventually do something stupid to mess it all up,why? to prove something to himself,as if he is free.. haha so funny as i was trying to understand it but with no denial i think it is so true and anyone who tries to avoid the confrontation is either cant face lot of facts in life and those are the people who cant lead!
I agree that’s why things like drama and gossip exist in tv and media it have ppl on edge on what happens next. many love conflict that’s why some people love to argue they’ll deny it but deep down it’s true
This makes me think about that speech from Hellsing Ultimate by Pip’s grandfather about being a mercenary. Finding excuses to fight instead of fighting for fun is just too horrible to admit

God kenpachi is just the best character, he gave me the reason and motivation to fight till your bones become dust and your muscle be numb to the point you don’t feel them anymore, till your body begs for you to rest and give up

The fact viz screwed over his pay check and we had some other guy (still pretty good but not on the same level) for kenpachi's fight with the hollows pissed me off so much. I almost want to pay him to do the lines so I can have a boot leg that sounds better then the original. Ha

But the problem is I’m pretty sure guts and every1 else in that series don’t get all that strong. Like maybe wall lv. While kenpachi is able to rip pocket dimensions apart and crush them just by existing if he’s not careful.

I sincerely live by this speech, my brother showed me bleach and from that day on I grew attached to it. This mindset has gotten me through my toughest times in life. I realized that giving up is just a dead end while fighting is a sort of crossroad where you never know where you'll end up, it's exciting. Life is a continuous battle and life is exciting.
The lesson I like the most about this speech is that if you have power, you have to use it and gain mastery over it or it'll eat you. And the only way to control it is to fight.

Wow this happend very fast. Thank you. I saw exactly what I was looking for - the same words, but in a completely different way. The original was just like the style of the anime but this manages to reflect Zaraki Kenpachi's sad personality. He doesn't feel pain, and that makes if difficult for him to consider himself as alive. He is twisted and the twisted part of his character is also twisted. He fights so he can feel alive and yet he doesn't let this desire to lead to massive destruction, which will be the easier way for him. I think

I don't think this is a twisted mindset. This is a very traditional warrior mindset, the greatest men in the world has the same type of mindset but in a more modern way.

Kenpachi isn’t dumb like most people think. If anything he’s smarter then most. He knows what he is, he knows what he loves and we found a job that encourages him to do it as much as he likes. He doesn’t need to have a deeper understanding because it’s unnecessary. For him all that matters is living in the moment, the adrenaline and blood rushing as he fights

I don’t like fighting either. But Kenpachi makes a good point. It is kind of like the same as when we want to protect someone.
Do we protect them because we know them? Because we care? Or even love them? You don’t need a complicated reason. Fighting is the same way. Do you fight because you wanna pick a fight? Or because they are threatening? Or because they made the first move? The list is endless. What matters is what do you do about? And how you use it? Same as when Ichigo fights. He needed to figure out what he is going to do with that power instead of trying to return it.

Kenpachi likes fighting so much he gives himself a handicap so he can fight a person for longer.
And the way he dealt with Tosens Bankai. He was not in danger he was just annoyed really. Annoyed at a Bankai denying him the fun of cutting his enemy and having to think for once.
Kenpachis philosophy is honest, straight, and simple. He clearly has a high iq but its over shadowed by his gargantuan power and inhuman bloodlust. His fight with Tosen provided a brief demonstration of his intellect thru his internal monologue.
He has higher iq thanost of the captains he fought gremmy and defeated him , he just provoked gremmy , and outsmarted everytime
Going to guess his IQ is somewhere around like 180 with some negatives for blood and battle lust.

When you realize that white was ichigos true Zanpakuto and the manifestion of his purest instincts, you realize just how right kenpachi was about ichigo. Within the span of a few sword clashes, he gained a better understanding of ichigos character than ichigo himself.

Well, about that. This speech is in Ichigo’s mind. Meaning everything “Kenpachi” is saying is actually Ichigo saying it.
Not to say that Kenpachi wouldn’t say this, as it’s also shown that Ichigo understands others better than anyone. Meaning that Ichigo understood both himself and Kenpachi better than anyone else.
Kenpachi is one of my favorite characters in anime. When you first meet him you think he's a bad guy. And by all rights... he kinda is. He's a bad guy that's for some reason good. Also, he cares so much for his 2nd in command... who has yet to fight. She literally just rides him and calls him Kenny. Extremely well written character.
Lastly, you know it's gonna be a banger of a fight when he shows up. No matter who he's fighting.

Kenpachi is fascinating as a character, because he is overall a brute and a bloolusted "demon" (oni), and yet somehow, he is so charismatic !
He isn't really toughtfull or versatile as the masterminds of the likes of Mayuri, Urahara or Aizen , and yet his sheer brutal power and brash violent nature makes him so freaking badass !
He also isn't just a "good" character by no means... and that also makes him appealing, walking his own path !

The fact that he finds out Ichigo's instinct, and tells him what Zangetsu tells him in the "king and horse" scene.
For real if Kenpachi was Ichigo's master Ichigo would make Zangetsu to break the whole seal and control the whole power, as long as he'd accept Zangetsu as Zangetsu. Instead of denying him and accepting his Quincy powers only as part of his soul reaper's power only.
