This scene is even better when you know that the English VA's for Mustang and Lust were husband and wife, making every innuendo even better.
Holy shiy
@@dylanleff373 yeah
And they are both part of critical role. Laura Bailey and Travis Willingham. Which if you have seen any of critical role it's hilarious because Travis is a big softie and Laura is pure chaotic energy
I imagine the Voice director that day saying “OK buddy here’s what, you’re going to kill your wife”
*ARE husband and wife - they’re still going strong lol
0:25 "Mustang is not a killer"
Mustang: say no more fam
"Hold My Ignition Glove"
"Hold my Hawkeye"
"Hold my war records"
Eric: Mustang is not a killer.
Mustang: 9:03
hold my walking genocide
"Barry is ... misunderstood."
LMAO xD
Fun fact: Havoc consistently ranked in the Top 10 Popular Characters in Japan. The manga used a lot of cinematography to show he and Hawkeye were Mustang's left and right hand, but it didn't translate well to the anime.
@Tum Tum Depends on how well you can use your knight. In the right hands, a knight can be really effective. But in most cases, the rook is the 3rd most important piece.
@@MasterPoppers In Chest there are 2 knights the rook was the other guy. And Hawkeye is his queen in the Chess pieces when he announces them out loud.
@@MasterPoppers the most important is clearly the pawn, smh my head
Understandable, he's badass
And in the 2003 anime Havoc was just the Joker. Different game, different anime.
Roy Mustang is SPARKY SPARKY BOOM MAN!
Bee Silver combustion man
said ben kaddi _literally_
Bee Silver what about lord explosion murder XD
Since everyone else has rightly mentioned how awesome Roy is in this episode, I'll just say that the "How many guns?/ALL THE GUNS" exchange really does say a lot about Riza Hawkeye's character haha.
How do I stop some big mean mother-Hubbard from tearing me a structurally superfluous new behind?
The answer: Use a gun.
And if that don't work?
Use more gun.
@@teamcybr8375 huh

So interesting note: Travis Willingham (Roy Mustang) and Laura Bailey (Lust) are married in real life, and Travis has admitted that this was his favorite episode. I cracked up when I heard that, and saw the evil side glance Laura gave him.
Here's the question: how many times did he break down laughing when he had to yell "LOOKS LIKE I CAN GET YOU ON YOUR KNEES AFTER ALL!" at his wife?
@@teamcybr8375 Unfortunately actors very very rarely record scene's together. But would of been great to have see the reactions for "It's gunna take more then your capable load to get me on my knees" and then the "Get you on your knees after all" lines. Lmao.
I ship it
1st they're not married yet at that time, they're engaged. Laura recorded her part first, and lost her voice for days for screaming a lot, he even called travis after her recording to blame him (as Roy) for killing her (as Lust)
As a Critter I knew Travis was Roy but I didn't know Laura was Lust and I kinda love that.
"A firebender killed my mother."
-Asami Sato
Ryan Mayer WTF!!!!😂😂😂😂
Ryan Mayer, well Asami does look like Lust
That is so accurate LMAO
Plot twist: Asami is a homunculus and got together with Korra to kill her
Homunculi can't reproduce, sadly
Mustang's glove is made by special materials that is highly flammable, a simple friction can create a spark. He can't transmute the spark, but he can amplify a existing one through some chemical transmutation whatever.
He transmutates the air around the spark to create a blast of pure oxygen that makes it burn up, right?
yep
Pure oxygen doesn't burn. Oxygen is an oxidizer, not a fuel. He separates and concentrates flammable gases into a bubble and a tiny pathway from his glove and ignites it with the glove, then the flame travels through the pathway of gas into the bubble where it explodes.
hazel chu But if is highly flammable, why the glove isn't set on fire after the spark is made?..... It's most likely a material with a high friction coefficient (probably metal base, cause of the friction properties metals have when rubbing against themselves).
Eduardo Armenta It could also be gloves infused with chert crystals which spark when hit against each other but are not flammable themselves.
I can't imagine what it was like for the Lust's voice actress (Laura Bailey) to go all out with that screaming. I don't know how she did it, but she did an awesome job!
*Sean Schemmel laughing in the distance*
Its not just this episode. I think the last 3 episodes were all about mustang. He's such a great character. and within this short frame you go from liking him, to doubting (or even hating) him, to loving him, to thinking he's a genius to thinking he's a badass. And after that you know just what kind of a guy mustang is.
He's definitally one of the best characters in the show.
You'd have to be blind to not see what a great character Mustang is.
Oh lol
I love you.
Eldrin Jak HAHAHHA...ha
Eldrin Jak shut up shhh
Eldrin Jak "Scolded by a child, lectured by a man who was my enemy, and you, I've hurt you again"
Absolutely loved that quote from Mustang!
roy is the most badass firebender
Sam is Dead he's an alchemist tho
issa joke
Until I see some lightning bending I think not
Somehow, my first assumption was Fire Emblem Roy XD
He’s a close second but Zuko is always first in my heart
You know what's really cool about this episode? It is panel for panel the same in the Manga. The animators didn't change a thing from how it was drawn from the original Manga. Every frame, every story beat, every emotional moment is exactly the same. I remember watching a stream of this episode when it first aired in Japan. Couldn't understand a word (since it was in Japanese of course, and so didn't have english subtitles yet), but I knew EXACTLY what was going on and being said because they just recreated it from the Manga moment by moment, shot for shot.
Roy Mustang has always been my favorite character, even in the 2003 anime. The Manga/Brotherhood just shows how much more of a badass he is, and shows him doing a hell lot more story-wise (and has none of that BS about him being the one who killed Winry's parents). And Roy/Riza is my #1 FMA/FMAB OTP.
+Shilajit Jana What are you talking about? Mustang killing Winry's parents? Yeah, I know that's not in Brotherhood. Which is one of the many reasons why I love Brotherhood (and the manga too of course) more than the 2003 "original" version. Because it doesn't have that BS storyline in it.
8:02 "she does like him, by the way."
Calvin knows what's up.
Im not sure if you guys got this but the reason why people got nick names like flame or silver alchemist isnt because they can only use that type of alchemy. It is more related to the fact that they specialise in dealing with a certain material (although it does not always reflect on that since Ed got his name because of his machine parts).
For instance everyone can do things like set up a defensive wall or make a door in a wall. There are 2 reasons why we never see people except for someone like Al and Ed do it. The biggest one is that every type of alchemy needs a specific circle and no matter how simple it is you still need time to set it up. The only ways around this are engraving the circle directly on something (like Mustangs gloves or Armstrongs gloves), having a philosophers stone or to have seen the truth which lets you skip most of the set up by just putting your hands together.
The other reason is that you need to know wtf you are doing. You can look at it like this: if you put someone who studies biology into a mathematicians office and tell him to do that job they wont be able to, but should the mathematician teach the biologist about his materials then he will be able to do it. Its the same here Mustang specialises in fire and should he ever choose to teach what he know to another alchemist then they would be a able to do the same thing that he can.
Just a small correction, eight months later..., Mustang doesn't actually transmute fire, he transmutes gases. The gases that he transmutes then are ignited by the ignition cloth gloves that he wears. Doing this is how he controls the explosions, flame waves, etc. that he makes.
The Strong-Arm Alchemist.
*_HE TRANSMUTATES ARMS_*
I want to point out that the reason people who have seen Truth can do what they do is simply a matter of knowledge. They have seen how the world works, so they can use the simplest of circles - a circle with an arrow - for pretty much anything. It isn't a way around the normal rules, just a high level of using them.
@@sterlingmuse5808 So would it be remotely possible for someone to learn this without seeing the Truth, as in without performing human transmutation?
@@aacm1259 Probably. But it would be very difficult.
He uses transmutation to alter the air into pure oxygen, glove produces spark by itself when he snaps his fingers due to material it was made from.
Also, "sucks for Berry"? You guys do remember that he was a serial killer, right?
catxborsuq1 and many characters in this show massacred innocent Ishvalans. They can change and so can he. I'm sure the Elrics could've changed him into something great.
Pure oxygen doesn't burn.
No, it doesn't. Oxygen is an oxidizer, not a fuel. You need oxygen, fuel and heat for burning.
Yep, it's an oxidizer. That's why he needs a spark. Anyway, since I'm too lazy to explain this properly, here's the description of the whole process from the wiki:
" Mustang's unique style of combat alchemy is made possible by his custom made gloves. Made of "pyrotex/ignition cloth," these gloves create a spark when Roy rubs his fingers together, and embroidered with unique flame alchemy Transmutation Circles, they allow him to manipulate the concentration of oxygen in the air. When attacking, Mustang raises the density of the oxygen surrounding his target to a level at which it becomes volatile and creates narrow pathways of oxygen between himself and his target through which he can direct the ensuing flash fire that blossoms from the spark of his gloves. As a result, he can incinerate any number of enemies in the field while deftly avoiding any adjacent allies. The 'snap' sound heard at the start of these transmutations is caused by the instantaneous speed at which the highly concentrated gases and sparks react together and pop (and not Mustang's fingers actually 'snapping', to common belief.)"
catxborsuq1 Oxygen does not burn. That is simple physics. It is something else that's burning, like hydrogen for example.

Eric's right about Roy's alchemy. To be specific, Roy uses his alchemy to create a pocket of flammable gasses between him and his target, then ignites that. That's what he does with the water in this episode, he splits it back into oxygen (which isn't flammable) and Hydrogen (which is even more flammable than what he normally uses) and then ignites it.
I love how much elemental trivia went into this series.
Oxygen speeds the ignition of the hydrogen gas. I think thats where the power comes from. The reaction is so violently fast that it creates a superheated but contained explosion
Oxygen is needed for combustion.
Hughes ended up saving his old buddy’s life from the grave in this episode. Lust ended up using one of her lives after he had thrown that knife into her head when she tried to kill him. That one life would’ve ended up killing Mustang after she threw herself through the fire in an attempt to skewer him.
Watching you guys just sink deeper and deeper into this anime and really enjoy it's meaning and themes bring back so many good memories from my first viewing. cheers fellas!
havoc isnt dead, mustang said after he collapsed to get them to help havoc, he is on deaths door but is still alive
Oh snap snap! Spark spark!

If someone didn't post this I was going to.
Final Account where is this from!?
QueenInTheNorth my thoughts exactly!
Something Roy's VA made up at a con. The guys at Funimation actually used it in one of their outtakes for this series.
IKEEMBLEM nope. He didn't make it up. It was in one of the manga extras and it was also in an episode of the 4koma theater.
I love the fact that Al hears Mustang's voice and just goes "Oh shit!" and makes a wall
His name is Hohenheim not Hauenheim.
It's amazing how they hear a word and pronounce it wrong literally seconds later
Mole Hansman I mean tbf Eric at least has the excuse of being partially deaf
One of the best episodes of FMA:B
Just upgraded my pledge just to see this early, fuckin worth it
"Looks like I can get you on your knees after all!"
-Mustang
The Flame Alchemist is too OP. Please downgrade.
And man, Lust was smoking hot this episode.
And extra crispy
Final Account that's why water was invented
Mustang's master didn't call it the "ultimate" alchemy for nothing!
Fr lust was on fire
I LOVE HOW MUSTANG AND LUST ARE MARRIED IRL
Makes the banter just that much better.
(Laura Bailey and Travis Willingham for those who don't know)
And for a fun fact; they play in a D&D campaign together with the guy who voiced Levi from AoT called Critical Role, chekkitout!!
And that's gotta be something they keep count, how much they kill each other in their anime and games they voice in xD
IMVADER2 isn't Matt Mercer in that?
+TheOutBack Pandas, Yup! He does great voicework as well, both as DungeonMaster for the D&D game, but does "It's hiiigh noon...~" from Overwatch, whoever that is (dont play the game), Chrom from Fire Emblem, And Rexxar/Ragnaros Firelord/Nefarian from World of Warcraft/Hearthstone...just to name a few.
(Spoilers for Critical Role) My favorite has to be Victor the Blackpowder Merchant in his D&D campaign. Does a solid town madman
wait - THEY'RE the ones in Critical Role?
I need to listen to Critical Role now
This Episode is soo good. I was waiting the whole week for your reaction
Thanks for the video guys, thanks Rhop. Good job with the edit.
Was waiting for this :D It made Mustang one of my favorites.
When Calvin is closer than he might think lol
they thought this was bad ass just wait until mustang comes face to face with envy
9:18 Exact reaction I had when I watched the scene. Such a badass episode. One of the best in the series.
Second Favorite Mustang scene, can,t wait for the next one.
Also would love to see Aaron's reaction.
sj4iy Isn't he on vacation or something?
He reacted to it too!
sj4iy can't wait for them to meet Olivia
"olivia" lol girl you had me so confused i was like "who tf is olivia" for a whole minute before i realized you meant olivier
stardust oh lol tbh I originally watched the anime like two-three years ago I was close I do remember that she is beast
Alphonse is my spirit animal
YES!! So excited to see this reaction! I've been waiting for it. And just think, you guys are just getting started down the rabbit hole! :)
It was great to see your reactions to this amazing episode.
It's about time. I've been waiting for your reaction to this episode for FOREVER!
About the souls inside armors, the soul is bound to the circle. If the seal is on the head and you take the head off, the body can move.
I'M SO EXCITED! I JUST CAN'T HIDE IT! I've been waiting for them to get to this episode!
I've been waiting so long for you guys to watch this ep
I'm so anxious to see the reaction of these guys when Mustang faces Envy! Super Epic. LOL
This was the ep I wanted to see them react to the most. The thought of putting them on hold and maybe binging later is a likely one for me now lol.
You know, I really appreciate the cross-overs you guys always make between FMA and Avatar Korra. Tells me how much you're invested hahah
And yes, we want Aaron's input!
And Shane, take care of your neck :(
I've been looking forward to this episode. Loved your reactions! :D
god diggity damn
mustang's driving is fucking terrifying
I'm watching this reaction to this episode after finishing the show for the first time the other night. With knowledge of the full series under my belt and what happens to him towards the end of the series, I like the subtle foreshadowing Lust gives in reference to Mustang's eyes.
Mustang uses gloves that are made from ignition cloth, that produce a spark when he snaps. The transmutation circle on his hand is Flame Alchemy, which focuses on amplifying the spark into a bomb-like explosion. In the original FMA series, Havoc describes it as "bombs on command". So, when Lust removed his gloves, Mustang used Havoc's lighter for the spark that his gloves usually made, and carved the transmutation circle into his hand to produce the same effect the circle on the glove usually produces.
I HAVE NEVER TAPPED A VIDEO SO FAST IN MY LIFE
the funny thing is that lust and mustangs voice actors are husband and wife irl
Looks like Lust got...
*puts on shades*
...in-Cinder-ated.
yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaahhhhhh
14:12 You're absolutely right Eric, it's explained in a bonus strip in the manga but not in the anime, he transmutes air then creates a spark.
I died when you said it’s like getting to the center of a tootsie roll pop 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That fucken "we're gonna rob a bank" ad every time SMFH
maybe barry and al can see from a third person perspective. he can right-click to counter attack
that's why he's so good at fighting
Hands down my favorite episode of the series. The Flame Alchemist at his best.
I finshed brotherhood a couple days ago i loved it
Hyped for episode 22!
JJ CZ It's all about episode 22, 26,27 for now...
Soul Garcia Yes, but we have to wait weeks for those. These guys are watching too many series man
JJ CZ 😭😭😭 I know! I wish they would do more than one episode per week!
Curiosity: the name Van Hohenheim (Father of Edward) and the name of a real alchemist of the average age whose legends say that he managed to create a philosopher's stone, several things of the anime are based on real content of alchemy and mythical including some names like Edward and Alphonse
Just to add a cherry on top of Lust and Mustang scene, the voice actors (Laura Bailey and Travis Willingham) are married
8:57 Eric’s reaction will always be the thing to jumpstart my goosebumps for this whole scene
How many burns does it take to get to the philosophers center of a phsyco
Mustang uses his transmutation circle to condense the atoms into a pathway in the air, he then snaps his fingers which causes a spark. His gloves are specifically made of a flint like material which creates sparks through friction, but if wet are useless. Hence, why he is considered “useless on a rainy day.”
Barry is dead. His soul was in the suit of armor and an animal's was slapped into his former body. His body wasn't recreated, it was just a soul swap. I have no idea how they attached an animal's soul to his former body since the blood seal would probably be absorbed by the skin or washed off more easily. Also people who have their souls attached to armor can still move the parts of their armor so long as those parts are connected to the piece with the blood seal on it; as evidenced by Ed believing that Number 44 couldn't move his body since his helmet had a blood seal on it and that was disconnected from the rest of his body. Another thing that I wanted to point out, Barry could still see even if his head was disconnected from his body; this is evidenced by the fact that he caught his head in midair after it was shot off when he was rescuing 2nd Lieutenant Ross from MP jail.
so the glove is a special "ignition glove" which allows him to formulate the spark he needs to create his fire. when the glove is destroyed, he uses the spark of the lighter and the circle on his hand to create the same effect.
You guys have to watch the bloopers once your done with the series. It's on RUclips
I know it's 8 weeks away, but I'm really looking forward to your reaction to episode 27.
Definitely top 10 favorite FMA moments.
Big Daddy is coming next episode boys. and we all know he's the true badass and he gonna raise bodies from the ashes. Honestly episode 20 is my second favourite episode after 26
When the episode is so awesome that it gets 2 reactions video huauhahuahu
about the alchemy mustang use with his glove, you're right! with the circle on his glow he change the concentration of oxigen in the air, with the snap he ignites that gas
people always misunderstood Mustang's alchemy. Its so simple if you just llook up how fire works. Fire needs a medium to burn in order to spread. In this case, Oxygen. Mustang power is to manipulate various flammable gases such as Oxygen, Hydrogen, etc. The snap and/or the lighter is just the trigger to feed on the gas he created with his alchemy. There is always Oxygen and H20 (water vapor) in the air around us, so Mustang power is LIMITLESS. His one weakness however is the fact that his trigger doesnt work if he is wet or he has no lighter.
Gives chills everytime!
Lust is awesome , luckily for you guys the 2003 anime has her as one of the last to die. And she gets so much awesome development.
Throgdar The Brute wasn't the last to die Wrath or Envy in Shamballa?
Actually, they explain Mustang's technique in the first full metal alchemist. He changes the density of oxygen in certain parts of the air, and his glove is made of ignition fabric that creates a spark with the friction of his finger snaps.
3:03 "Lerooooooooooy Jenkins!"
Mustang burning Lust to a husk is probably my favorite scene from this series.
Waits excitedly for episode 26!!!
he transmutes gas with his transmutation. The glove just makes the spark that lights it.
9:32 Calvin: *BURN!!!*
Lust: I'm doing it! Geez!
barrys dead, Mustangs glove is a special material that creates a spark like flint and uses the transmutation circle to turn it into a flame. and hohenheim is pronounced HO•en•HI•m
In terms of badassery, this episode only scratches the surface. It only gets better from here
Try to pronounce "shing". "X" is pronounced like "sh" In romanized Chinese. Don't let the spelling fool ya, the characters already said it.
hazel chu yea I don't understand how they consistently mess up pronunciation when characters say the words out loud in English
Because they're watching it once a week along with 74628494282 and not retaining the info like we got to.
hazel chu in Mandarin Chinese xing is pronounced as sing
+AC Garcia you tripping boi, 新definitely not pronounced like "sing" in mandarin lol.
hazel chu 新 has a pin yin of xin, but in the English language it sounds like sin.
He's called Hohenheim
And Lusts stone used up all the energy. Don't forget they are made with human life and they contain a finite amount of life.
Mustang separates water into hydrogen and oxygen. The glove creates sparks to ignite the hydrogen/oxygen mixture.
YES I've been waiting for this episode!!
they called it the ignition glove so I think it's like what Calvin said maybe with Flint into the fabric
The Philosopher Stone's main ingredient is human beings. The people who was used to make Lust's stone is inside it. Everytime she dies, she uses one of the human souls to heal. She finally died because she ran out of souls to use.
"It's like getting to the center of the tootsie pop" xD
dont know if u guys knew this or if it was mentioned yet, but there are important scenes after the outros in some episodes
This is why you dont play with fire, you get fucking burnt!
That outro music is so kawaii!!! Didn't know Hologram had a cute rendition lol
how many flicks does it take to get to the center of a lusty pop? this episode knows!
the soul is attached to the armour body torso and only the other pieces when connected thaths why the light in al and barrys eyes go out when disconnected from the armor if they take the head part off number 48 had his seal in the helmet so he would always be lit up all the time
"By the power vested in me, burn." -Sylvester the taking kitty
