Amazing, I had my son's tablet done in 25 minutes, thank you for this video this is my son's second tablet and I wasn't about to buy him another, glad it only cost me a few dollars and a little bit of time. Thank you for this.
Thank you for making this video. I just replaced the screen on my child’s tablet instead of buying a new one. Money saver! Easy to follow, took your time and explained thoroughly. Be blessed!
I came to figure out how to replace my cracked screen. Now I gotta find Sonic because that is way more important than device repair. Thanks for the fantastic video!
Thanks for the guide! if anyone wants to avoid any glass pieces from falling off the broken screen during removal, you can cover it with tape before starting.
Cheers mate, repaired my nieces tablet without a problem after watching your video. I considered doing the whole board removal as you suggested to make getting the connector through easier but one component was soldered on (and glued to the plastic frame) and I couldn't be arsed desoldering so I said screw it. Removing all the screws and sticking a plastic opening tool under the USB port to keep it levered apart a bit was enough to make it reasonably easy to slip through without having to poke tweezers anywhere.
thanks! glad I watched this video, I had ordered the full screen, but just realized I only needed the digitizer and was able to cancel the order in time. Will be here on Friday and I will get it done. A breath of fresh air when devices are cheaply and easily reparable
Thanks man, I had mine together and the screen wasn't working! I watched this and you mentioned the lift gate, so I went back and looked and sure enough, the lift gate on the screen itself was up... fixed now thanks to you sir!
Incredibly helpful, thank you tremendously. Saved me time and money; would also like to say taping front screen with clear tape before removing is essential as well as removing tiny screws near the digitizer are great add on tips.
Thank you! This worked great, I followed along and paused/rewound where needed. I was worried at first it hadn't worked as the touch wasn't working but after restarting it, it worked! So happy I fixed it, thank you for your video 😊. Ps. I wore a head torch when I did mine after seeing that tip on the comments of another RUclips video. That was really useful to see what I was doing nice and clearly.
Great video! Found your instructions after buying a replacement digitizer on Amazon. First time I successfully replaced a cracked screen without destroying the lcd or other critical bits :D Glad I caught the tip to disconnect the motherboard. After removing the bottom row of screws and top right most screw, you can wedge the slot open enough that the digitizer cable passes through with ease I covered the existing screen with packing tape so it wont fly everywhere and you can peel it all cleanly away Good as new, thanks to you..
Great video, thanks. After unscrewing the screws as in the video I was able to gently pry up the motherboard at the USB C point enough to fish the digitizer connector through to the other side. Be careful not to stick the pry tool in too far when yanking off the busted glass (or you'll scratch the screen beneath it). Also my digitizer wouldn't work (no touch screen) until I did a hard restart. Thanks again.
Thanks for posting this. I was able to replace the screen on my daughter’s kindle. I had trouble removing the broken screen, it kept cracking and falling apart so I put packing tape on it to keep the small pieces from getting everywhere. The metal tool also cut my finger; I should have wrapped the tool in tape or put an adhesive bandage on my finger. Hopefully this screen lasts.
Cracking guide fella, just used it to replace screen on Amazon Fire 8. Only addition I would say is to wear gloves and glasses when removing the old digitiser screen.
Love this! Helped a ton. But not you being like “you better believe I am gonna be sonic.” Then proceeds to play the course lmao. Greatest help and the end of the video after finishing made me giggle so best video ever!
Great little video, thanks. Worked a treat for me, although I did have to do a "soft reset" afterwards to get the screen to turn on (panic thinking I'd done something wrong).
worked a treat, thanks. . I had some trouble getting the tab through the hole -removed 1st 4 screws and then was able to prise near the charging port and slide in the connector - might work for some - easier than removing motherboard.
Thank you very much for this video :) I got the exact same tablet with the exact same cracked screen :D My 4 yo daughter made some fun with a 10 feets drop on stairs
Thank you ! We Just replaced this tablet but I want to try to fix the screen of the old one as a little project for my daughter , she enjoys learning things like this . Thank you , we will let you know how it went .
Thanks for the tutorial. Mine looked a tad different than yours. I had some issues lifting the motherboard to slide the touch screen wire through but figured it out eventually.
This is the first video that came up when I searched for this tablet screen replacement. Doing it this weekend . Also my name is Rex my sons name is Rex and your tablet says Rex. It was destiny haha
Dear Tim, I have replaced the Amazon Fire HD 8 Tablet 10th Gen K72ll4 8" 32 GB Black. screen is not coming on but it make sound as you press on button. i have checked the connection to new Digitizer and all secured. do you think screen was faulty or some thing else can be wrong. Thanks for your help.
Super helpful video, thank you so much! One question though. My digitizer didn't come with any adhesive on that square part that connects to the motherboard (the square where the QR code is). Is adhesive important there? If so, what can I use?
Maybe someone can help me understand what adhesive is best to use for the electronic component that connects to the board and does it need to be conductive? My replacement screen did not come with pre installed adhesive so would like to know what to use. Maybe some thermal paste? Thanks for the help
Hello Tim, great video, I am close to done--but stuck. My replacement screen seems to have dull layer attached to the back of the glass. When I compare them the original seems crystal clear and the new one shiny on the front, but dull on the back. It appears to be stuck pretty tight too, like if I pry on it it would break the new glass. Have you run across this before? I think the new glass is two parts, the piece in front looks like the original but the piece on the back is not. I know the front has the peel off protector, but this back piece is much thicker. I appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks again, I am almost there!
@@redlase91 I did. It IS a protective film which needs to be carefully removed. The glass is shiny, not dull. I worked with medical gloves on to protect surfaces and avoid extra cleaning, so I started the film and then put a piece of tape on the loose edge. Then I put my gloves on, and it was easy to remove of the film. Good Luck!
ALWAYS unplug the battery from the motherboard FIRST. It takes 1 second and can save you a lot of headaches if something was to short while working on it.
@@elitesportsmedia I’ve disconnected and connected back a few times on time acted like someone was touching the screen when nobody was. I’m thinking my connected got damaged somehow 🤦🏻♀️
Unfortunately yeah something is wrong with the digitizer you might of done everything right and it’s just a bad digitizer, look at the little gold prongs make sure none are missing on the connection. Make sure none of the cables have any kind of tears in the ribbon, sometimes you can just turn it off and and and it will reset just a few ideas
videos good only pet peeve is u keep picking up the tablet to poke at it and push parts to make it easier and to mess with where the screen connects to the board u take it off camera and we cannot see
Possibly bad digitizer. I would try disconnecting it a couple times make sure it’s connecting correctly. You might try disconnecting the battery as well then try sometimes performing a hard reset will work
turned it on and it turned on and got to the "home" screen and then shut off ... ☹️ I thought maybe it had died but I tried charging it and nothing happens.... Any idea what could've happened? I can hear the sound it makes when I connect the charger but nothing on the screen. 😭😭😭
I just wish I paid attention to the "Kindle" I just have the "Amazon Fire Tablet" so I bought the wrong screen. You should add Kindle tablet to your description I just wasted 2hrs the chipped is reversed

I would say yes you can buy double sided tape from the store and just cut a small piece double sided tape does wonders
Will this work for water damage where audio and touch work but screen is black??
Is it the same process if its inked out???
Thanks !

I cant get the little chip that's connected to the screen off the board. Tried heat but it won't let go
I can not get the square thing on the new glass through the hole. The motherboard is in the way. I did take all the screws out
I wanna say on that model I hade to take all the screws out and it was kinda tough

hi mine is Model R2SP8T. Any link for replacement screen? Thanks
ALWAYS unplug the battery from the motherboard FIRST.
It takes 1 second and can save you a lot of headaches if something was to short while working on it.
I noticed that you have the kids edition which means you should have been under your warranty for the two year warranty right?
I’m not sure on that
I got all the way to end but the new screen is not responding to touch after connecting? What could I have done wrong
Try reconnecting the digitizer cable again

Great video but is it really worth it for a tablet and regular goes on sale for $45
Not really worth it just if you love the tablet
I replaced the screen followed every step but now my screen is black i can hear the tablet working but no visuals
Sounds like the lcd might need to be reconnected, or possibly a try a hard reset
Followed video to a T and my screen turns on but the touch part doesn’t work
You need to move your hands when putting in the connector through the plastic because idk how you got it in without damaging it
Did anyone else not have a sticky tab on the last little chip that needs stuck on the motherboard? Not sure what to do now.
does not matter if u damage the cable...it's a bad digitizer and just unplug the battery once u get the back off.

Why is the part where you actually attach the screen and feed through the cable missing from the video?
I changed the digitizer as well but I'm not getting any touch response. Any suggestions? Bad digitizer perhaps?
Possibly bad digitizer. I would try disconnecting it a couple times make sure it’s connecting correctly. You might try disconnecting the battery as well then try sometimes performing a hard reset will work
Thanks for your response. will definitely try those. Thanks for your great content as well.

difference between k72ll3 and k72ll4?? Help
turned it on and it turned on and got to the "home" screen and then shut off ... ☹️ I thought maybe it had died but I tried charging it and nothing happens.... Any idea what could've happened?
