  • Picked up this stereo filter from Elta Music based on the chip used in the Formanta Polivoks. These filters are capable of sounding very nasty on certain settings.

Thanks. Was looking for a video that showed this unit or more extreme settings and just about all the demos resist going past about 2 o'clock on the resonance. I think you demonstrate the weird realms it can get into fairly well.
They seem to have just dropped a bit in price. Think I'll be getting one...

Wish you'd do the demo without reverb.
I see so many demos where I know most of what I am hearing is the effects units.
How is this different from say a mono Polivoks filter?

Main difference between PF-3 and Polivoks filter is there are 2 filters on the PF-3 instead of 1 on the Polivoks and the PF-3 adds highpass and notch mode. As for the differences in noise circuits I have no idea. Sorry you didn't like the effects.

@@Bata9999 Oh man. The demo makes it seem really amazing. It isn't that I do not like the effect,. I just like to hear the difference between the device itself and the effect.
A lot of demos use effects and I just wish I could get 10 seconds of "this is how it is dry, and this is how it will sound with effects."
Didn't mean to sound snarky.. I watch a lot of demos and more people should do a few seconds of dry no effects as a base line. IMHO.
Your video got me searching all the polivoks videos and to be honest, this dual unit takes it to another level. Just wish I could afford it.
Really appreciate this demo. Was just adding a suggestion for future vids.

@@griffithmorgan4966 I agree for technical videos it's nice to have a dry example. My videos aren't meant to be overly technical or try to sell the unit. I'm just explaining to my small viewer base why I'm adding more synth gear when I already have too much. If you are looking for a more affordable Polivoks Behringer is apparently working with the original designer on a clone that should be reasonably affordable. I agree the 2nd filter of the PF-3 adds a lot and the additional modes are good as well. They are definitely on the expensive side at regular price though. Thanks for commenting!

Bata, does your wet/dry knob function normally? How the heck does it work? I can't seem to get a full dry signal then sweep to full wet.

    • @Bata9999

Normally no. Pretty sure I've just taken to leaving it all the way wet. I was having things where the resonance would become more piercing if I backed off on the wet/dry. I never bothered to ask the company what the deal is. If I payed full price for the thing I would have maybe cared more. I'll try it with a drum machine tonight and investigate.

@@Bata9999 i think i got mine for a steep discount as well. I did notice if you turn the resonance all the way up it screams loudly. I marked that point with tape!

I did some tests and my wet/dry functions as one would expect except if the resonance is up high on dry it can be heard. My latest video uses the PF-3 with some wet/dry adjusting so maybe it's helpful to you.

@@Bata9999 awesome thanks. I currently have everything boxed up as I tore down my full studio so I can't test it out like that. Btw I had a guy on etsy build a stand for my elta if you're interested in getting one too i can post a link to his store.

I have no need for a stand myself but feel free to link the store if you think it's a good product.
