Bach has improved my life quality siginficantly. I don't know what I would do without his music. It's just so logical and humane

If you like this kind of thing you'll like Bach's Brandenburg Concertos. Bach's flute sonatas are also rather wonderful.

Was coming to comment section to say this. Absolutely recommend Brandenburg Concertos. Personally recommend the "Harmonia Mundi Gold" album.😊

Bach, being the greatest composer who ever lived, composed this sterling example of why. The second movement - tears, inevitably

I love how with bach the end of a phrase is just the beginning of a new phrase. His music flows like no other imo

1st time listening to it, and within the 1st few seconds I knew I was gonna love it.
    That opening theme, peak!❤

This is the most played of all of Bach's concertos for any instrument, and for good reason -- the second movement, the emotional heart of this piece, is just so sublimely beautiful.
Bach's other violin concertos are also very enjoyable, and he also wrote another double concerto for violin and oboe that I like a lot.
If you're interested in concertos from other eras for more than one soloist with orchestra, I'd recommend the Mozart Sinfonia Concertante for violin and viola, the Mozart Sinfonia Concertante for winds (oboe, clarinet, horn, bassoon), the Beethoven Triple Concerto (violin, cello, piano), the Schumann Konzertstück (four horns), the Brahms Double Concerto (violin and cello), the Bruch Double Concerto (clarinet and viola), and the Smyth Double Concerto (violin and horn).

I just love your smile when listening to this. I think these masterpieces of great art will teach us the way to a better understanding of ourselves, to our true nature as humans - whereever we live, whatever we do in our daily life: We can feel related to people who evidently feel the way we do.

I may not be the biggest baroque or Bach connoisseur, but I recognize greatness when I hear it. This definitely is an essential everyone should know. Also there is something about a double violin concerto ...

I've been hoping you would look into Bach. He is the father after all. Not sure if you know much about counterpoint and polyphony but if you're willing to learn Bach is a deep dive. You should also look into the Netherlands Bach Society, they're still working on their "All of Bach" project in which they are recording all of Bach's works in period instruments and tuning. It's quite amazing.

NBS is a must to look into for anything string for Bach. I absolutely love them and all their interpretations. Cheers! 😊

Twoset Violin played this in their streamed 4 Mil concert on RUclips. This older interpretation sounds so different to me now. Research into the Baroque era in the last 20 + years revealed a different style, which was less romantic, more precise, and used very little vibrato, but encouraged added decorations.

Oh, then you're gonna love his harpsichord concertos! The Brandenburg concertos - especially the 5th - make good use of the instrument as well. I recommend the Academy of Ancient Music with Christopher Hogwood as a good source. They actually use period instruments! Also the Netherlands Bach Society. They have awesome videos on RUclips. A heavenly choice, this video. Thank you! :)

Good choice, sir. Mass in B minor ruclips.net/video/3FLbiDrn8IE/видео.html - is widely recognised as the highest achivement of Music. From the very first notes through out the whole piece it's quite an Heavn Experience. Would love to see Gidi's reaction on this monumental masterpice.

Since you liked this violin concerto, listen to concerto for violin and oboe in c minor, BWV 1060.
Regarding your comment on the harpsichordist, listen to Brandenburg Concerto No. 5. It has a fantastic solo harpsichord cadenza.

Love this work! Performance leaves something to desire tho…Bach concertos, partitas… all masterful and engaging works..you should react to his “piano” concertos (really keyboard concertos) youll LOVE THEM

    • @whocares_bear

I agree about the performance. Stern's intonation is a little off at times which is is crucial for Bach's harmonies. Jesus, those double stops in the third movement are pitiful! I think something's wrong with Stern's hearing because he's playing a lot of microtones and Gil Shaham looks confused by it.

In the universe of J. S. Bach, one listenes to a piece for a first time, and likes it. The second time one listens to it and hears something new alltogether. The third time, the piece has become an essential friend for life. It will always be on your side.
Looking forward to your next Bach contributions! I would very much appreciate a reaction to this amazing harpsichord transcription of Bach's monumental Passacaglia & Fugue: ruclips.net/video/TDed6wUp8Ro/видео.html
