That place you landed was the Akkala Citadel (as you know), and yes, it did have all the flying guardians. It also was the Hyrulean Army's last stand to the Calamity!

I know you're not a fan of all their talking, but Hudson's story gets updated from Breath of the Wild and it's worth it. I know you'll enjoy Kilton's project too. I’m not sure if you can fuse shields to each other shields but if you can that would probably help considering you’re always having to drop good shields

Stampy if you talk to purah she tells you to go to hebra and after you finish the wind temple If you talk to her again she says to go to eldin, then Lanayru, then gerudo. This is the near the second area you are supposed go to, so some people still try to explain things.
