- Al Calozzi move from Philly to Seattle in 2008 and bought authentic Philly cheesesteaks to the PNW.
The Eatin' Good gang got to spend a day in Seattle with Al Calozzi at his famous cheesesteak restaurant.
We can definitely say it is worth the hype. This is American Street Food.
Located at 7016 E Marginal Way S, Seattle, WA 98108.
ASMR , American Food
I ain’t gonna lie
That looks like hard work
Haha The man took a lot of time perfecting the technique
The Calozzie in Georgetown is the Best Philly Ive had in Seattle area. You dont feel gross after eating like sometimes do w/other garbage fake phillie spots. Good ingredients.
My man!
The guys are rocking to Van Halen 🎉🎉🎉🎉
should allow us to buy these and have them mailed to our houses! i want 12 fr
To the East Coast haters. The Owner is From Philly! He got the accent to go w/it. Quit haten kuz u see a 🔥🔥 ass Cheese Steak that SLAPS 98% of the Philly’s in Philly (& reast of east coast) being made , lookin better than most of what u seen,& sold on west coast.. all sudden “its not official kuz its not in Philly, ect ect
Forreal you speaking my language 💪🏾
Those look so mouthwatering! So delish! I also noticed somebody in there appears to be a Van Halen fan.
Al is the man! That’s forsure!
Man that looks Delicious!
So good!
Great looking sandwiches, and Van Halen!! 😎🤘
🔥
I will be in Seattle next week , can’t wait !!
Hell yeah!
🔥 🔥
... are those Steak-umm's...
From what I saw when I was there is that it was sliced beef from a local butcher shop.
Frozen until it an order is placed. Then when they cook it the moisture from the frozen beef allows them to chop the beef up real good. It definitely isn’t steak-ums, thats forsure.
I should’ve gotten the meat prep in this video. Will add it in the next video I make like this.
Rotght down the street from where i work. Ive known about it for a while.
time to go get one..
Born and raised in south Seattle but live in Everett now. We have erwins philly cheese up here. Its a corner store basically but this also looks 👍🏿
🔥
Looks yummy 😋👍🏽
So good
Yummy 😋😋
The owner is a nice guy and workers make great cheesesteaks. I grew up on Super Sub on the North Shore and I go back there every year, Calozzi’s steaks are better than Super Sub now imho.
Yo! Al would love to hear this!
Salt, pepper, fried onion & american cheese. Let the slit bun sit over the meat & cheese on the grill for a min. to warm & soften then scoop and turn with spatula. That's the Philly way. These still look good. Props
Ayyyee! My man knows what’s up! Al Calozzi is from Philly, so you know he had to represent it with the real cheesesteaks on the west coast!
Professional work
👍🏽
Looks yummy 🤤😋👍
So good!
I, personally, do not like them putting the cheese spread on top, and then having it smeared all over the paper and foil. Serve them straight up like in Philly.
They have two styles. One is the cheese whiz and the other is the cheese slices/shreds. The second half of the video highlights the cheese shreds/slices.
Check out the 4min to 5min mark that’s where they use regular cheese!
great, now I am hungry...lol
You and me both!
guy be playing with his food too much! haha
Lol you have to try the cheesesteak! All that playin makes the final product so incredibly good!
I can appreciate a good steak outside of Philly, I prefer mayo on the bottom of my rolls and cooper sharp or american, this looks really good!
Never thought about trying mayo at the bottom. Going to have to give that a shot!
@@eatingood Every papi/corner store and most pizzeria's will ask you if you'd like it... Here in Philly most cheesesteaks you get from non-cheese steak places be just as good and accommodate your request, highly recommend that mayo!
The Philly cheesesteak is very delicious 🥪🥩🧀😊🥰😋.
Seriously! Everyone in Seattle has to try!
Awesome
It’s great!
@@eatingood I have a alot of history of Philly cheese steak sandwich when I was 10 but this is a different one for me
Its crazy right! I am just happy to get a legit one here in Seattle. I know the owner Al makes these with real love. I believe any food made with love makes it so much better@@ryanhowell4492
0:45 “Hey, Welcome to Calozzi Cheesesteak” 👁️👄👁️
👍🏽
I'm going to have to see what this one is all about. I've only tried Philly's Best in Long Beach California and then I tried Charlie's steaks and Lynnwood I believe. I like Philly's Best better than Charlie's Steak for some reason they put pickles and tomatoes in my stuff and I was sadly mistaken.😅 Philly's Best I dunno it's owned by Bonafide Philadelphian and you can even see the culture of the city all over the walls. I remember their steaks being very good. This one looks delicious❤ I haven't had a decent steak in a while. I used to like Jersey Mike's but not anymore
This one is a must try. Al brought it from Philly to Seattle and I can say it’s definitely a gift from the universe!
If you are in Socal you should try South Philly Experience
That’s how it should be done EVERYWHERE!!!
This put jersey Mike's to shame
Using real steak, such as thinly sliced ribeye or sirloin, is essential for making an authentic Philly cheesesteak for several reasons:
1. Flavor: Real steak offers a richer, beefier flavor compared to processed alternatives like Steakums.
2. Texture: Authentic steak provides a tender, juicy, and slightly crispy texture that enhances the overall experience.
3. Tradition: Philly cheesesteaks originated with thinly sliced, grilled ribeye steak, and using real steak preserves the tradition.
4. Quality: Real steak ensures a higher quality and more satisfying sandwich.
5. Regional Pride: Using authentic ingredients is a source of pride for those in Philadelphia, where the cheesesteak is an iconic dish.
In summary, the choice of real steak is crucial for maintaining the taste, texture, and cultural significance of an authentic Philly cheesesteak.
Ok
The dicing of meat is the part allot of philly spots dont do.. i fkn HATE the phat chuncks. DicE that $/!T!!
Looks Fire 🔥
So fire 🔥
Pais rico esse ai. Aqui no Brasil quando pede-se alguma coisa com queijo, vem uma pasta de soro de leite, tipo um requeijão.
Interesting 🤔
I can't call this a Philly style cheese steak. Around Philly, we just call them steaks.
Cool
And cheese is not SHREDDED! main choices are American and provelone, by the slice
I PERFER MOZZERELLA!! 215 OFFICIAL
NOT PHILLY STYLE AT ALL. WE DO CALL THEM CHEESE STEAKS. WHEN I WAS COMING UP DOWN PHILLY IN THE 70'S AND 80'S WE HAD WHITE AMERICAN CHEESE, SWEET AND HOT PEPPERS, ONIONS, COOKED WITH KETCHUP AT SOME PLACE'S.
@@MACKCHIEV100 The original is called steaks. Back in the day they didnt even put cheese on it till one day they decided to and it became popular. The original cheese used was provolone and then whiz was used and became the staple of a "Philly Cheesesteak" one whiz wit please.
If you are a Philly native you call them "steaks" the further away from philly you go the more they start calling them cheesesteaks then even further hey call them Philly cheesesteaks. In other countries they call them Philadelphia Cheesesteak. Go figure.
THANKS FOR THE HISTORY.@@ahhason
Van Halen!!! Guaaaaaauuuuu
Nice set-up you it's better if they put ice on the grill it make the clean process much easier
Good call!
Im on chemo, so my appetite is basically non existent. So, i watch shows like this, food porn, cause it makes me want to eat! 😋 Am I the only one? Or am i weird? 🤔
Nah I’m weird like that too lol
I love philly cheese steaks. Do you know where to get a good one like this in Los Angeles?
I don’t know! But Al Calozzi has some locations in San Diego. So if your out there look him up!
@@eatingood thank you
if I want to eat something perfect like this in my country (TURKEY), I have to spend %12,5 percent of my salary for each.
I am sure it is not expensive for you guys. For me, it is just a dream.
Hopefully one day you can try it!
Not sure how I feel about the pepperoni. It might be good, but it's not what I'm looking for in a cheesesteak. I'd still try it though.
The Roni is so good! It’s definitely a different type of Cheesesteak but they have multiple styles including the original steak sandwich.
I choose to have the pepperoni cheesesteak to be featured in this video because it’s my favorite lol
Highly recommend stopping by whenever your in Seattle!
Van Halen... worth it
Hell yeah
Look.so.very.yummy.❤😢food.and.tastertwt
So good
If you ever get down to San Jose, try Amato's on Saratoga Avenue. Closest thing you'll get to a real Philly cheesesteak without having to get on a plane. GO EAGLES!
I second that. Too bad san jose has more homeless than normal folks now. Smh
@@sleepyjoeisnotlegit👀😳....damn!
Not as bad compared to San Francisco
@@SJ_MERC San Fran is the next Detroit
I disagree, I don't know if it's the bread or what but every single time I get aMatos I'm disappointed.
Good grief does that look good.
💯
Looks solid, very well done. Only thing I'd change ? Well, I'm not sure on the pepperoni. Looks good, though. RE: The cheese, I'd use parmesan. The whiz works but parm is optimal. Looks great in total, though.
👍👍👍👍
parmesan on a philly cheesesteak... go away
@@MooseMeus Well, Sir.... I hear your point. The whiz works pretty well, no doubt. -And noting, I am from Arizona, so my ability to comment on Philly cheesesteaks is limited. Granted... I am just saying that I preferred the parmesan cheese over the cheese whiz. Take care and Peace.
It looks good.. Is it better then Gino's or about the same?
I think it’s unique in its own way! Al Calozzis puts a little bit of his own twist to it. Like my favorite sandwich here is the “Roni”. That one is a beef steak with pepperoni, onions and cheese. It’s pretty delicious!
If your ever in Seattle swing by and try it out.
Gino’s is trash ah tourist trap Frfr
Philly cheesesteak West Coast style
Yessir!
The OWNER is from Philly
Im betting he worked at Dalessandros & went to the spectrum to see VH
When I talked to Al he told me he learned from his uncle who had his own style but based on some of Phillys best.
Puts the Wiz on top after it's already assembled so most of it ends up on the paper. 😂
Still pretty good tho lol
@eatingood no.. its supposed to go on the roll under the meat
@@PJP1112it does. They do both
The whiz is gud.. but that American is where its @ 🔥🔥🔥!!!
Just come to Philly and get the real deal
Haha it is the real deal! Keep telling everyone Al Calozzi is from Philly! He brought it here to show the west coast what a real steak sandwich is all about!
Yeah I work down the street at north Boeing field from Thai shop
I ain't flying to Philly...
That’s how it should be done EVERYWHERE!!!
Agreed!
Instant No to frozen meat!
Watch some other Philly videos! They slice it ahead of time then freeze it until service
They will cook that meat for 15 minutes?
Lol no it’s just a process video that follows them as they make several sandwiches. It’s a ASMR type video
I prefer a plain steak, not so chopped up to meat crumbs, no pepperoni, xx onions, pepper, ketchup and mustard😋
Mmm interesting 🤔
Ketchup & mustard. Big gristly chunks?Mmm how bout a blue steak on some french bread then.??
Those prices are ridiculous 😮
Well worth it 😬
These are such good sandwiches. I live in the Seattle area, and I used to go here all the time when they were located in Pioneer Square. Before, Bidenomics made gas prices go sky high and took all my disposable income away.😭😫🥺
Definitely a great cheesesteak spot now one of our favorites
Nothing like a dirty grill!
Compressed meat! Over cooked!
Yeah yeah, bidenomics shmidenomics🙄 we all know it’s this goddamn war and the sudden lack of Russian oil to erode causing the lower supply and increased demand for oil.
This never compare to a Philly steak
I mean Al Calozzi is from Philly lol He brought it here from the establishment himself so Seattle could have a taste of his hometown
What kind of frozen meat is this if it’s not ribeye I don’t want it
@@dimples3410frozen ribeye and sirloin beef.
@@dimples3410He cooks it frozen, which I can see an argument for thawing before cooking, but the meat is very good. I go here once a month and Ive not tasted any quality issues at all. I think he even sells tasty cakes still…..Its great food and I know Im picky because I think Tats tastes like shit and everyone tells me Tats is amazing.
@@dimples3410REAL PHILLY CHEESTEAKS USE. SIRLOIN.....so dat rib eye u talking is NOT A PHILLY CHEESTEAK.......u think u sayin something but u not! 215
When preparing Philly cheesesteaks, it's crucial to use authentic steak rather than Steakums. That sandwich doesn't look appetizing; we're from the East Coast, and we prefer real steak over Steakums. Stop being cheap 😢😢😢😢😢
Ok
Facts 😢. This ain’t it. This is definitely not Philly official
They are chipping that steak up to much for me js
It’s different for everyone
Then u dont want a PHILLY CHEESTEAK!! u want some IMPROVISED VERSION
To the cheez wiz people….
🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
Haha I like both styles. Wiz or American cheese 😅
There should be a law. Only Philadelphia/ Pennsylvania and New Jersey can make cheese steaks.
Nah that ain’t fair. Why can’t we all share 😢
NAW I FEEL DAT!!!
After you get through chopping the crap out of that "steak", it looks like ground up hamburger. Not very appetizing to look at.
It’s pretty good once you eat it. Try it next time your in Seattle
Nothing special, looks like many other cheese steaks in the world.
Just like any other type of food. You gotta try it before you knock it. Come to Seattle and get one
Except for us in Seattle it isn't really common there are only a few. It ain't like Philly but it's good
Why ruin a good cheesesteak by putting pepperoni on it? Disgusting
It’s pretty good. Don’t knock it until you try it
Disgusting. Pepperoni belongs on pizza that is it.@@eatingood
seems like they need longer rolls.
🥖
East coast wanna be's
Nah Al is from the East coast! He moved from Philadelphia to the West and bought the Philly with him! Ain’t no faking it here
