Although I've watched many other travelers notebook set up vids, I always feel like the setups are beautiful, but I don’t have time to do all the artwork, stenciling, stickers, etc and track every minute of my life. I've been tinkering with the idea of having my own traveler's journal for several months, and this video finally got me into it. Let me just say, OH MY LORD I LOVE IT!!! I have two diy journals now; a small one to act as a wallet, and a large one which has three thin sketchbooks/inserts attached to it. This one is my life, because I can carry all of my notes and sketches comfortably packed in one single book.

Thank you for all the good ideas, I've been trying to condense my notebooks. I couldn't figure out the usefulness of the passport.. however using it as a wallet is genius!
I use my passport size as an "everday carry" in my purse. I have a 3 inserts (calendar, lists, finance tracker) a craft file, and a zipper pocket. I actually put a couple cards and my ID in there the other day when I didn't want to carry my wallet and its pretty cool to use as a wallet! I may adapt my setup to make it my official wallet, not sure yet.

Setting up what works makes us happy😊 I saw a video series from Ray Blake on this size notebook, I learned a way to index the information and it's not a planner but he used it like you have your notebook it was set up shared for all kinds of information. Not bullet journal but a take off from that. I love it because all the bits of info I put into my book I can find, also if you ripped out a page it still would work because pages aren't numbered.

Great video. Btw, you could just use the elastic on the moleskin and wrap it around the back cover of the TN. Then you wouldn't need the binder clip. Of course the elastic would show, but I think it will look like a design element

Interesting way of including a bigger notebook..neat! My passport size is also a chunky monkey.... but I confess I'm torn about using paper other than the Midori which i love so much...my new favourite is the extra fine with more pages in so a half way house. I don't quite have the guts to only use this as my wallet and i use it for calendar and notes but have a similar set up for wallet area which i use as my fun things wallet....like trips out and going for coffee etc. so i don't need to get my purse out then. Love trying different ways to use it though...thanks for the ideas! 😊
You could always make your own notebooks. There are instructions on You Tube, right down to stitching the cover and sheets together or get an adjustment stapler. Again you can buy about three size staplers on eBay. Thatway way you can useyour craft paper to cover each note book you make differently. I even found a place which sells printable page setups, quiet cheaply. You gettge after paying by download8ng the PDF files.
I like having memo pads on hand for disposable notes. For my full-size TN, I cut a Mintra Junior Legal Pad about 11cm wide and used a binder clip to attach it to the back cover. For my pocket-sized fauxdori, I used double-sided tape to affix a Post-It Notepad and some flags to the back of the Doane Utility notebook.

I use the moleskine notebooks that come in a pack of three and have card board covers.. They are 5.5" long so I take a ruler and a Kraft knife to trim .5" off the bottom, and re-glue the bottom of the back pocket, then they are perfect for the passport size traveler's notebook and they come in dot, graph, lined or plain. There is a canvas insert you can get from amazon with a zippered pocket and a pocket with flap -- I got that and keep my money in the zippered part so I can use it as a wallet.

Notebook strap- you can use it as a bookmark or put the strap around the back cover.

Have you tried to use a pocket size tn in replacement for passport? It might make it more consistent with the field notes size. I'd really like to see a similar set up in that size:) I hope to make one soon :)

Mine doesn’t have elastics. I need them. I suppose if I poke holes in the leather with an awl I can put them in. Just don’t want to ruin my beautiful leather.

You could also make upset holders from firm card or plastic divider sheets and double tabke then to the cover of your insert note books. At least that is what I am planning to do. We can do so much with these.

I just recently got a zlyc one while I was at home to try the passport size but haven't used it yet. This gives me so many ideas on how to use mine! Hoping I figure out how to carry it every day so I can eventually get the camel one!

Instead of using a binder clip why, don't you put the elastic from your moleskin over your passport cover. I hope I made sense.

I have a question. Since this is a wallet and used as one, how do we find a place for the drivers license? I have simplified everything and put all items in one place so I am asking about the license, where do I put it?
Hello! The driver's license can go into the clear zipper pocket. 😊 It has card slots that will securely hold it.
Moleskine and TN mhhhhh too heavy and not very manageable to carry on

Thanks for sharing. It's a nice idea but I would definitely recommend not keeping the money in the TN. Money is the dirtiest thing imaginable handed from one person to another. Watched a documentary once with the amount of germs they carry and it was absolutely stomach churning. I also do not like to keep the receipts because they also carry a huge amount of BPA in them. So I ideally I keep them in a ziplock in my bag; otherwise in a designated wallet that doesn't touch my other stuff.
I know some people just don't care but I do and feel many others as well so just thought of sharing the tip.
Mara Torres I'm not unfortunately 😞 Statistically money, remote controls and trolley handles are the dirtiest things. Not to mention money and receipts carry BPA which is very serious to the point where some US states ban a certain type of receipt paper. Read it up before you judge.
This is too bulky ma'am! It shouldn't go past 3 sleeves I feel .
