@@BodgieFromStraya I'm doing well bro, soon to open a kebab shop!! Really excited to see where it goes, when are you going to open some type of public managerie/aquarium where people can see your beauties!! I think you can really go far bro and you're one of the few people in our cohort that has the talent to take it all the way ♥️♥️♥️
Hopefully you can find a grown up to chainsaw some larger pieces for you. I have found that if dead eucalyptus branches still have leaves attached, it's not dead enough and will stink up your tank.
@@Gilsfishroom I have also have wild collected Australian native timber that’s most likely eucalyptus in my tanks for years. However my statement was According to “ old timers “ is not a wood suitable for aquariums . In particular I believe it is the wood chewing species like BN pleco that don’t benefit long term from eating the wood . Possibly the oil in the wood? I actually agree with you the more seasoned it is the better.
I have also used heaps of old/seasoned eucalyptus and had no issues whatsoever. Second that must be seasoned as should EVERY piece of wood you use however. Also soaking never hurt, again for every piece of wood id recommended it if you can.
Hahaha, I think that grown up might just have to be me. Yeah, I'll for sure need to really double check those pieces near the dam, it's weird because they've been dead and fallen for at least 5 years but still got bone dry leaves attached haha.
Hard to see, but that may actually be white/black cyprus which is native by the way. Get yourself a cheap food used IBC, you can just soak your pieces in it really easy. Plus once your done with it its a 1000L outdoor pond! Or Worse case scenario just use the dam. Once the pieces are soaked and water logged get them out sun bake them and they will be seasoned! P.S Are you on reverse cycle septic waste? If so i have a great idea that you can do for the Dam water level? Also, i have large ant colonys like that at my place. Mine are meat ants.
Yep! we had a council member identify them as black wattles which are native, they refer to them as an invasive native here haha. Grow and spread to fast choking out the eucalyptus species and other natives that are more essential in habitat. We have IBC's! So awesome idea there soaking the wood in there haha. We are on septic as well, I am not sure if it's reverse cycle though, basically we have a patch of land now that the septic run off(?) drains to.
@@BodgieFromStraya Yeah mate actually quite a few invasive natives. Here in the Hunter NSW we have a WA species of Wattle called Saligna. It's a massive pest here but still a 'Native' If you can just over time thin out the black Wattle you'll be surprised how much other things come back if it's controlled. Mate my IBC has done a lot for me from growing shrimp (outdoors!) to soaking timber and growing out plants. There friggin awesome. Highly recommend it! Yeah dude that sounds like what you need basically its the waste is 'processed naturally' like a fish tank and 'water' comes out the other end. Only catch is has some higher nutrients and a small risk of fecal coliforms. But if that Dam isn't for stock animals you eat or for you guys to swim use and you wanted it as a natural permanent body of water you could direct the flow towards the dam. Cut in a small stream to the dam and plant/pond plants in this stream and then the dam will constantly fill with water all day every day no matter the season. I've done it at my place with an old stock dam, the ducks/frogs/birds and hell even turtles showing up is insane!!
I grabbed a heap of wood from a mates place By the time I was scaping, I'd narrowed the wood down to the few that I actually used Grab as much as you can, so you can scape as you need You can always put some of it back, yeah nah
Hey mate! it's abut 30 mins away from me but it's my go to local freshwater aquarium shop. love the fish I get from there! Native fish are priced really well, just call in advance to see if they have want you want and go from there!
I loved the video but a tip is just be yourself don’t worry about others, in your video it almost felt like what you were saying was scripted just be yourself man and just talk to the camera like it’s a conversation with someone. Love the video ❤
I really do appreciate the feedback, funnily to be genuinely, genuinely honest this is just the way I talk😅 sometimes I just pause and have to think what I’m about to say, there’s always like 200 things going on at once. But then I articulate sentences coherently so it seems scripted? Thank you though!
I can't wait for the tank reveal. :)
Coming soon man!
Hope you're doing well Tarun! always a joy seeing your videos pop up 😁❤
Jerry! How you doing man?! Thank you so much!

Eucalyptus is not suitable for an aquarium according to people who have been keeping fish longer than me.
@@alans4281 I have been using it for years. The thing is to ensure that the wood is seasoned.
