Hi Lynn! Hope you and Hans are doing great. It was soooooo wonderful to hear your voice after me being away for so long. God my missed you guys so much. That's a beautiful agave you have there Lynn. I hadn't the faintest idea that agaves get them too!! Clever little chaps those scale insects. Thank you so much for sharing this educational video on how to deal with this pest in particular, because I had a situation with scale and didn't nip it in the bud and it begin to spread uncontrollably. So no amount of pest control videos can ever be too much, because they give us a gentle reminder to check our plants every now and then. So many thanks. From the garden City of India to the Emerald Isle, here's wishing you and hands a great week. Cheers and lots of love.

This is excellent! I just got a new plant with some small bumps on it and I'm having a tough time telling if it's scars or scale. This looks so easy! And if it doesn't come off with a little rubbing, I'll know it's just scars 😊

The rubbing alcohol really works like magic at zapping the scales away haha, and it works so well for mealy bugs too, I put some of the rubbing alcohol into a spray bottle and spray it onto the cacti that are very spiny to get rid of any Beasties and it kills them on contact, thanks so much Sylvia for your wonderful Friendship and amazing comment and support and for watching, and Hans and I are sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER from across the Irish Sea to Malta for a wonderful afternoon XXXXX

This is what we call " citrus scale" , I find it a bit easier to deal with than cactus scale. A couple of my agaves have had this. As well as my lemon trees , monstera and schefflera. Alcohol usually does do the best. My schefflera was farmed by ants with this and mealies at the same time!! I had to get aggressive with it as the three had infested it so bad. I cut off every green part on it down to the wood. This is a 38 year old plant, so lots of woody trunk. Then took it out of its container and washed off all soil and ant city!!! Disposed of all the cut foliage. Took about a month, but it grew back!! And no beasties!!! A tough cure, but it worked well!! I used Alcohol and a brush like you did on the agaves. Thanks for sharing Lyn!!! From Morris Park in the Ozarks, to across the emerald isle, have a wonderful day!!! Peace, Love, Plants!!! ✌💖🌷🌳🌻🌴🌿🏵🌲🌵😃👍

The isopropyl alcohol really is good for dealing with these annoying pests. The good thing is they can’t build up any sort of resistance to it like other pesticides. Thank you for sharing with us as always, Lyn. Have a wonderful afternoon and evening from Edith & myself to you and Hans ❤️🌵☀️🌺🌼🌸🏜

The alcohol really works a treat at zapping the Beasties away haha, and its so good that the Beasts can't build up resistance to it, so many commercial insecticides especially the Systemics dont work very well as they build up resistance to them very quickly, thanks so much Daz for your wonderful Friendship and amazing comment and support and for watching, and Hans and I are sending you and beautiful Edith lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER to England and Singapore for a wonderful afternoon and evening ahead XXXXX

Thanks Lynn for sharing this tip on removing scale from plants. I didn't know that you can use rubbing alcohol to do this. Where can I buy this as I have never seen it for sale? I live in Cumbernauld New Town not far from Glasgow in Scotland. I have lost most of my friends I am guessing because I am quite ill with physical and mental health issues so I am glad that you are putting out videos sharing tips, tricks and information on plants. Thanks Lynn.👍😁

I’ve learned this trick from you. I use alcohol for all pests problems. Then after the alcohol dries, I spray with this wonderful insecticide called “Seven”. It’s really awesome. Got rid of aphids and red spider mites and ants after the first treatment. They were literally gone the next day and haven’t come back. I sprayed beginning of the season and now it’s almost fall. My greenhouse is pest free. It’s awesome stuff. It’s a flower oil treatment so it’s safe on flowers and buds.

Please don't use neem oil! I've lost entire collections as well as many other people. If you use neem it needs to be incredible diluted. Succulents are extremely sensitive to neem oil.
