Treasure Planet and Atlantis are ELITE. I still belt out the words to "I'm Still Here" and it's stayed Top 10 in my playlists, and just....There's something to be said for the relationships in both of these films. I agree that both Atlantis and Treasure Planet are such underrated films. They may not have been standard Disney fairy tales, but they were still game changers from the norm. But no, it's stick to formula, stay the safer route. Can you imagine if Kida had been made part of the Disney Princess lineup compared to Merida or- no offense, Mulan, who isn't royalty? Plus, we could've had Sora fighting the Leviathan in sub pods in a Kingdom Hearts level!

39:15 “I wonder why they didn’t make a second one?” Please I will cry - justice for treasure planet! Knowing they have 2 sequels planned to go but never got to make them 😭
For some crazy reason it didn’t do well initially the box office but as people began to trickle in over time it became more popular and was super successful on DVD
23:43 They're not HER crew. This is HER ship but a seperate crew was hired. Some captains stick with one crew, others get different crews for different missions. I don't understand it, don't ask me to explain it.
It actually wasn't uncommon for a ship to be either bought by the (wealthy) person looking to take a voyage, or chartered from a shipbuilding company. Many instances have captains and crews hired that have no connection to said ship, and can be hired separately dependent on the person paying for the voyage. This is why there was the scene regarding Mr. Arrow discussing a thorough check of the ship, as well as Captain Amelia going over it herself. This is NOT her ship, and therefore it needs to have every inch inspected by both her and her first mate. After all, the ship's condition would be known to both of them, had she owned the ship, and the only thing they would have had to go over was the state of supplies, otherwise. As for the crew being hired separately, and not being to her liking, that is completely on the Doctor. He has no real knowledge of what such a voyage actually requires. There could be a matter of a crew at Captain Amelia's caliber would be extremely expesive, but it's more likely that the Doctor just wanted to hire a well-respected captain, and didn't think much of what was needed in a crew. Probably assumed that a captain with her reputation would excel with any crew. It's also alluded to that he is very susceptible to manipulation and pressure. After all, he bought the spacer suit just because the shopkeeps kept complimenting him and pressing, and later talks about the whole purchase almost regretfully.
Treasure Planet is not only the most underrated Disney movie that came after Atlantis: The Lost Empire. But it is also one my favorite Disney movies. Really ashamed that we have never got a sequel after 20 years of waiting. i would like to see where Jim goes next after joined and graduated from the Royal Naval Academy after so many years.
Bro, I have the concept art for the potential sequel as part of my screen saver, and every time it pops up, it breaks my heart a little. There was going to be a killer android voiced by Willem Dafoe. So many amazing new locations. A ship heist. Why can't we have nice things?
“After 20 years of waiting” why are you waiting? Disney scrapped that within half a year of this being released 😂 Were lucky Disney hasnt thrown this movie into the vault to never be seen with how much they hate it
There was a sequel planned but since the first movie wasn’t a commercial success they scrapped it! There’s concept art you can look up, and the director released the basic plot: Jim was supposed to go to the Royal Naval academy and become rivals with an alien girl named Kate. An evil robot pirate named Ironbeard hijacks one of the academy ships with Jim and Kate on it, some adventures happen and they end up reuniting with John Silver to take back the ship. Meanwhile there’s a romance angle with Jim and Kate building. At the end they manage to defeat Ironbeard and his henchman, and Jim and Kate get to graduate from the academy while Silver watches proudly from the shadows. There’s a bunch of details im not adding but you can Google it!
Same! I begged my mom to buy this for me on dvd! I was so happy when I unwrapped it on Christmas one year! I wish we also got a sequel, and I even considered the ludicrous idea of making my own sequel with what the design team had left over online. I wouldn’t trust Disney to make a good sequel though. They’ll just use the nostalgia and fandom to make their own rendition and prompt their own ideas and agendas in it. It would break our hearts if this precious treasure was put in the wrong hands to be mutilated and butchered, pun intended. Such a great movie and band that did the music is still my favorite! They’re called the goo goo dolls.
34:39 We saw the look in his eyes at the beginning when we were hearing the story about him as he picked up the pieces of that treasure. That insane love, lust, obsession, whatever you want to call it, the fixation on having that treasure, of gathering as much of it as he could. Looking back you can't think that anyone who looks at treasure like that would leave it for anyone else to steal. He died alone on his ship surrounded by his treasure. Because it was about having it, not doing anything with it. It was his in life and he made sure it was his in death.
15:20 You can't hire a ship and a well-known captain to go after a legendary treasure that may or may not exist but that everyone talks about without word getting out. To summarise: People talk.
Also basically what happened in the book, I'm assuming they rightfully glossed over it in the film since the particulars isn't super important and otherwise the story doesn't happen (Also also they were already hot on the tail of the map given Jim and co narrowly escaped the sacking of the Benbow).
Long john Silver (Treasure Planet) is the perfect Anti-Villain for Disney, and he is the one of the few rare Disney Villains that has alot of heart. Especially for those have complexity and 3rd dimential character like Judge Claude Frollo. As a grown man who grew up without a father, I can relate to Jim since he has to deal with real serious issues of an absentee parent and abandonment. living with his mother Mrs' Hawkins for the rest of his life. We seen him as a rebellious thrill seeker who, like many of us, is looking for an adventures and he gets in trouble most of the time. But over the course his story, he meets Silver who steps right in a father figure role despite being captain of his pirate crew, Silver chooses his love for the cabin boy over the treasure, and teaches Jim the valuable life lessons such as taking the helm and chart your own course. And stick to it, no matter the squalls. Disney really needs to make more father-son dynamics like this one! In addition, more good anti-villain/anti-hero like John Silver
It definitely helps that Long John Silver's character was well-established in Stevenson's novel already. He's always been a complex, charismatic figure, and every version of the story would be lifeless and dull without him
This is arguably one of the best versions of Treasure Island ever made! Jim and Silver’s relationship is exactly like this in the book - Silver’s an antagonist, but not the villain, as their relationship is quite complicated. Thanks for reacting to this one!
I highly recommend Muppet Treasure Island as well. It's another great retelling with Tim Curry. Fun facts: Benbow Inn is named after Admiral John Benbow, who was a heroic naval captain. And Long John Silver was an anti-villain character modeled after the original author's own mentor, William Henley, who had an amputated leg because of terbuculosis. Henley was apparently a big, intimidating dude, even with a pegleg. (Henley's daughter was the inspiration for Wendy in Peter Pan, which is another random trivia bit.) Treasure Planet is based on Treasure Island, written by Robert Louis Stevenson. Treasure Island was Stevenson's big break as an author, and he went on to write a bunch more pirate-themed novels afterwards.
I think they did a beautiful job adapting the original novel into a Steampunk 2D animation. Everything hit so hard, the painted galaxy backgrounds, the CGI was pretty decent, the colors. THE MUSIC SCORE FREAKING SLAPS AND I CANT GET OVER IT!
16:56 Actually, Jim's father didn't just abandon his family for no reason, and he's probably dead since he didn't come back. To explain myself, in the sources about this movie, I found out a long time ago that Jim's father was in some space army, and when we see him leaving in Jim's memory here, Jim's father got a call to come back, and Jim's mother probably cried because her husband recently came back, and he has to go again because he was urgently called away, leaving his family and probably perishing somewhere. This is from my recollection from a reliable sources, who confirmed this (not sure how well I remember the details, but I know it was a military call or space navy, or something), and of course I wish the movie had shown more, or at least explained the scenes a little better of the past.
Actually, not having the explanation works well for me because we see it from Jim's perspective. He's still a kid, probably doesn't really know what his dad did, just that he was away from home a lot. So why his dad didn't come back, Jim will never know, so he assumes the worst. But thank you for that, it adds a bit of extra connection to have an actual valid reason his did never came back vs. him just being a dick!
0:50 I just love the opening violin - I still say it's a small reference to Robert Louis Stevenson (the man who wrote 'Treasure Island') being from Scotland, it sounds like a melody that would come from that land of sky and mountains.
This depiction of Silver in this movie isn't a bad guy, he's just misunderstood and a victim of his own obsessions. All he needed was a reason to care about others instead of his own greed, Jim Hawkins was that reason.
Fun fact, there’s a cameo of the directors in this (John Musker and Ron Clements) for a split second. They’re caricatures of themselves at robots. I think it’s during the view of the space port
The studio did this movie dirty it was great I actually read Treasure Island years ago and Treasure Planet is a great adaptation that puts its own twist on it
This is probably one the most underrated animated movies ever. The CGI mixed with the animation is so amazing and probably took a lot of time to make, I just wish that they didn't bring the trailers out like they did. They literally put out all the key events in the movie on TV so you may as well have just watched them instead of going to theaters. I remember it happening.
I choose Treasure Planet even though I love Atlantis Treasure Planet hit deferent for me I rewatched it thee most out of all Disney movies but I rewatch it in my language it makes me have all emotions but of course when I watch reactors reaction it would be in English but it still hit deferent even in English, if I had free time I would rewatched this movie everyday that's how much I love it also always had a crush on James even now🤣🤣❤❤,
10:04 the way the professor just acted always cracks me up like "seriously, what the heck?!" 11:28 the fact that they didn't have any parrot looking creatures, they decide to go with a Shapeshifting slime to replace poly the parrot.... I love this movie 14:31 I love this guy he was definitely a villain to hate yet also to love especially his voice 16:48 what did you expect he is long John Silver… Even in the book he did have a soft spot for Jim Hawkins. 25:44 just when I thought this movie couldn't get any better they made Ben gun into a robot… And with one of my favorite actors/voice actors of all time. 30:21 this also cracked me up🤣🤣🤣 37:43 the screams on what their future is going to be and I love it 39:13 😅 yeah that is a good reason why they couldn't make a treasure planet 2..... but if they did.... I wonder what they would've done then.... I mean as far as I'm concerned that was it there wasn't anything else after the book.... however there was a cartoon series based off of it with anthropomorphic people
This is one of my all time favorite Disney movies. Most people I know have never seen it, but the characters and world building are phenomenal. Disney is constantly doing live action remakes of their films, and I would do almost anything for a live action version of this and Atlantis. You asked about Jim throwing away the piece of rope he was holding after their black hole escape. If you look right before, he was tying and untying it, repeatedly doing the knot that he'd done on all of the life lines. He still thought he'd messed up the knot and gotten Mr. Arrow killed, and at the end just threw the rope in frustration. It's a detail I missed for years until someone pointed it out to me!
The boys watching the underrated classic! And I can’t wait for you to see Atlantis soon! They are just so damn good and deserved so much recognition today! 🥰💙
This movie is so underappreciated despite it being highlighted by all OG Disney fans (of that era). So glad you both are doing collab watches like this ♥️😁😁
I love treasure planet growing up! It’s one of my favorite Disney movies in the early 2000s. And I actually thought Disney was very clever of making the classic novel of treasure Island into a sci-fi film. And I also love that Silver becomes a remarkable father figure to Jim. He’s one of my favorite characters.
Top 3 favorite movies, favorite movie to re-watch. I used to watch this in the two hour drive to my grandparents house when I was a kid so it'll always hold a place with me
I have been putting this movie as a suggestion for years 😂 what an awesome way to start my day ❤️ lol 😁.. treasure Planet over Atlantis for sure this movie hits to my core
Such an underrated movie! I was literally thinking about this movie when I got the RUclips notification 😂! I wish they did a second movie, but I did read something about how they were also planning a 3rd, but to how much money it brough in from the box office, wasn't gonna happen. Everytime "Who's that Pokemon!" came on had me laughing! This is probably one of my most favorite collabs that y'all have done!
EYYYY Its my fav bois! Treasure planet is in my top 10 favs! It was the victim of bad marketing, and it was a passion project that got very little recognition. Its a fantastic movie based off a great book, and the world building is some of the best I've ever seen in a movie before! I love the futuristic pirate theme that takes the old timey looks of high sea adventures and meshes it with science fiction! Plus, the characters are fantasticly written (I wanted to be Captain Amelia when I was young, her and Tarzan lol). So glad you guys checked this out!!
My favorite underrated Disney Movie! And both of you are reacting to it together! I like it better than Atlantis but the only drawback of Atlantis was them putting in a joke character for the kids
I watched this movie when I first got an Amazon firestick. I like duo reaction. I forgot Joseph Gordon-Levitt was the voice of Jim. You both should react to Muppet Treasure Island together.
I love this movie and Atlantis. I hate all the Disney live action remakes, but I think Treasure Planet and Atlantis would make FANTASTIC live action movies. We don't need Lilo and Stitch as live action...
It only took 3:47 seconds for the nonsense to start. I AM DO EXCITED YOU GUYS DID AN IN PERSON REACTION!! 🤣 Please do this more often, you two are my fav collab pair and im glad you agree this movie is amazing🫂
I still haven't seen this movie, but I remember seeing the trailer for it and Atlantis on the 101 Dalmatians: Patch's Adventure VHS tape when I was a kid. Probably gonna find watch it this weekend.
I never actually read the book but I've seen a few adaptations. Disney did an adaptation of Treasure Island the original novel before this but, there's also Muppets Treasure Island which I highly recommend you guys see.
Fun Fact: According to notes in "Treasure Planet: A Voyage of Discovery" (contains concept art), Leland (Jim's dad) was nineteen and Sarah (Jim's mom) possibly seventeen when Jim was born. The additional note in the book that he arrived "sooner than either parent planned" could imply that Jim was conceived earlier in Sarah and Leland's marriage than expected, or was the result of indiscretion, a love child, and the premise for the marriage. While it lends itself to both predicaments, the latter can be confirmed by the note that Leland was "immature and not ready for marriage" nor "prepared to raise a family"; he "felt trapped in the commitment that being a part of a family requires and couldn't handle the responsibility of raising a child."
Two of my favorite reactors watching one of my all time favorite movies!!!! This is amazing you guys are the best! I'd love to see a joint reaction to national treasure. Keep up the great work!

This movie and Atlantis are so underrated! They deserved more marketing and more love! I wish Disney would go back to 2D animation 😭😭😭
This one is my favorite, but Atlantis is also insanely good. They made up an entire language for that. The detail is amazing
I choose Treasure Planet even though I love Atlantis Treasure Planet hit deferent for me I rewatched it thee most out of all Disney movies but I rewatch it in my language it makes me have all emotions but of course when I watch reactors reaction it would be in English but it still hit deferent even in English, if I had free time I would rewatched this movie everyday that's how much I love it also always had a crush on James even now🤣🤣❤❤,
Hell yeh! I'm stoked to see this with you
I love Treasure Planet and Titan AE they where huge parts of my childhood and still some of my favourite movies, I recently watched Atlantis
6:29 The ship crashed there, whether Jim had brought him there or not the pirates would've ransacked the nearest house they could find anyhow
When I say I can't.... y'all this is so much of my heart... and the both of you?! Hell yea.
You can't choose one or other, both are masterpieces. Badly underated but absolutely phenomenal.
10:04 the way the professor just acted always cracks me up like "seriously, what the heck?!"
11:28 the fact that they didn't have any parrot looking creatures, they decide to go with a Shapeshifting slime to replace poly the parrot.... I love this movie
14:31 I love this guy he was definitely a villain to hate yet also to love especially his voice
16:48 what did you expect he is long John Silver… Even in the book he did have a soft spot for Jim Hawkins.
25:44 just when I thought this movie couldn't get any better they made Ben gun into a robot… And with one of my favorite actors/voice actors of all time.
30:21 this also cracked me up🤣🤣🤣
37:43 the screams on what their future is going to be and I love it
39:13 😅 yeah that is a good reason why they couldn't make a treasure planet 2..... but if they did....
So glad you both are doing collab watches like this ♥️😁😁
omg not my two favorite dudes covering my favorite disney movie!!!! This movie is so powerful and emotional, and the animation is to die for 🙏🏼😍
That feature presentation thing called me OLD omg 😭 I wish I was a kid again
I love treasure planet growing up! It’s one of my favorite Disney movies in the early 2000s. And I actually thought Disney was very clever of making the classic novel of treasure Island into a sci-fi film. And I also love that Silver becomes a remarkable father figure to Jim. He’s one of my favorite characters.
Atlantis and Treasure Planet are two of my all-time favorite movies.
YEEEEESSSSSS FINALLY I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU GUYS TO WATCH MY CHILDHOOD MOVIE 💖🎉✨🎊
Omg I hope you guys love it! My siblings and I watched this on repeat every day as kids and I recently showed it to my son😭🥹👏👏👏
I literally just rewatched this film after many years! Highly underrated tbh. I think it was a little before it’s time.
Treasure Planet Rocks🎉😊
Underated classic, love this movie & it's sci Fi/pirate aesthetic.
Treasure Planet was my favourite movie of all time and I loved the music they played I’m Still Here. That song was perfect.
"reminds me of mass effect" on seeing the spaceport made me really happy for some reason
One of my childhood favorites and an absolutely underrated Disney film.
Top 3 favorite movies, favorite movie to re-watch. I used to watch this in the two hour drive to my grandparents house when I was a kid so it'll always hold a place with me
Treasure planet Eldorado and sinbad are literally the best most underrated movies ever ❤
Great movie I don’t remember much of it in the theaters but I remember I was with my uncle Greg
My favorite Martin shorts role is him playing Jack Frost in Santa clause 3
I have been putting this movie as a suggestion for years 😂 what an awesome way to start my day ❤️ lol 😁.. treasure Planet over Atlantis for sure this movie hits to my core
Such an underrated movie! I was literally thinking about this movie when I got the RUclips notification 😂! I wish they did a second movie, but I did read something about how they were also planning a 3rd, but to how much money it brough in from the box office, wasn't gonna happen. Everytime "Who's that Pokemon!" came on had me laughing! This is probably one of my most favorite collabs that y'all have done!
Two of my favorite reactors collaborating for a criminally underrated disney classic!
I was waiting for this and this is one of my favourite animations plus Sinbad. One of the best soundtracks too.
Nice seeing someone watch treasure planet and glad you plan to see atlantis too. Another amazing animated space scifi to watch is Titan A.E. !!!
Oh my god I've seen that movie so many times as a child thank you for the title drop
Oh that one movie written by the same dude who gave Wonder Woman and Black Widow ass shots for no reason
The knot of the same time period Rescuers and Rescuers Down Under are also really good Disney films that aren't super well known
40:05
Billy: Oh, not the Bimbo Inn. That low key makes him your mama’s pimp.
Me: 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 No, he didn’t go there
the nostalgia is real with the dvd or video intro
My favorite underrated Disney Movie! And both of you are reacting to it together! I like it better than Atlantis but the only drawback of Atlantis was them putting in a joke character for the kids
y’all both look so good in this video damn!! love the collab as always x
Fun fact, Doppler and Amelia are the same species.
not you and billy sitting on that lil azz loveseat😂
Another great reaction mell.🔥🔥💥
I watched this movie when I first got an Amazon firestick. I like duo reaction. I forgot Joseph Gordon-Levitt was the voice of Jim. You both should react to Muppet Treasure Island together.
This is a great feels movie, Muppets Treasure Island is a great comfort movie.
The potential of the imaginative landscape that this movie possesses is limitless. Very sad it didn’t succeed back in the day.
I love this movie and Atlantis. I hate all the Disney live action remakes, but I think Treasure Planet and Atlantis would make FANTASTIC live action movies. We don't need Lilo and Stitch as live action...
26:42 My boy Billy did not just disrespect Ben by calling him johnny five lol 😂😂😂😅😅😅 💀 💀 💀
For those that don't know short circuit movie reference
"Yomama was a Snow Blowah!" - Johnny 5
Ayyy the gang’s back together😲🙆🏾♀️
I'm ashamed to admit how long it took me to realize this is just a space adaptation of Treasure Island
Scroops was one true terror.
love you guys💗
I never actually read the book but I've seen a few adaptations. Disney did an adaptation of Treasure Island the original novel before this but, there's also Muppets Treasure Island which I highly recommend you guys see.
Such an underrated gem
Underrated gem of a movie
Treasure Planet & Atlantis are 2 of my favorite movies growing up tarzan being behind those 2 movies by not by much.
The book Treasure Isiand is actually really great. Basic concept and story is the same , but obviously not in space.
Two of my favorite reactors watching one of my all time favorite movies!!!! This is amazing you guys are the best! I'd love to see a joint reaction to national treasure. Keep up the great work!
So so glad you’re watching this and Atlantis. Two of the greatest fr
this is my one of my fav movies! love your reaction from the both of you✨️✨️✨️😭✨️🌟
Loved the book as a kid, loved this movie ❤
