Beautiful to see many of the handlers using a loose lead and soft hand presentation, on their run. As seen with the Boxer and Neapolitan.
Love the Leonberger. So beautiful.
I thought the Canadian Eskimo Dog was stunning, so I went and looked up the breed standard. It basically says things like "make sure to approach the dog from the front, don't do anything to startle the dog" etc. so it seems obvious why its numbers are dwindling if even the breed standard almost discourages a person from owning one.
Out of interest, which club's/association's breed standard did you find that in? I checked both the FCI and the UK Kennel Club's standards and have found nothing of the sort. At any rate, it's always a good idea to approach any dog in a way that allows it to be well aware of your presence and intentions, regardless of breed.
It's no surprise its numbers are dwindling, though, as it is a working dog that would find it hard to adapt to a life radically different from what it's been bred to do - with Malamutes, Huskies and Samoyeds already fairly popular northern breeds, there's little room left for a newcomer that probably has few pet/companion/show strains that are more suitable for less experienced owners. And in its home in the Arctic, snowmobiles have gained ground enormously, so there isn't much use left for sled dogs.
@@veramayer9571 That makes me really sad that its numbers are dwindling, because, yes, the other three breeds you mentioned are popular, but the CED is also beautiful and I wish it could be just as popular. I mean, is it really that much different in temperament than other sled dogs like Huskies? In the breed standard I read, it literally says "he is not to be viewed as a domestic pet."

I too want to give a kiss to a Leonberger
I have one they are amazing
@Crufts, when will yesterday's Pastoral group judging be uploaded? Thanks so much for making all this available for us overseas viewers... can't wait for the terriers tonight!
The huskies in Crufts always look small and weird!
ye because they get breed that way, they have nothing alike with original Huskys any longer, less with a sleddog.
I though that too
i mean thought!
It's just that the husky at UKC have a different standard than the FCI and the AKC all depends on being brought up in the United Kingdom Judges seem to prefer the dog to look small and miserable too that is their standard ... this puppy, my puppy at 4 months of age was 16 kg, while of the above kennels weighed 9 pounds with 4.5 months ... like wanderers. But I repeat this is the Ukc standard and not the Fci and the AKC, I do not like this standard a lot because in the UK the breeders went in a completely different direction ..
Because they’re only supposed to be a medium sized working dog bred to take small loads over long distances. It’s actually not far off the original breed standard, and most crufts shown siberian huskies in the uk are also worked so they’re fit for purpose.
Love them alllll
That Leonberger is the most beautiful of dogs. I hope he gets placed.
I'm currently training my Greater Mountain Swiss Dog to start showing! I absolutely love the breed!!
Love the doberman!
My vote was for one of the Nordic, that Malamute is gorgeous. But the Boxer is so pretty too
Newfoundland is not in Northwest Canada, it’s in the Southeast. Still a lovely group, love Crufts!
anyone else notice how almost all the dogs look similar to their owners
My Giant is cropped and I’m glad. Docking a tail is not cruel
Agreed. To many AR. But yet other procedures are acceptable. Smh
I just wish people would get thier facts straight and would look into the reason why tail docking was done , before they comment.
@Call Me Ninjas most cropped breed were used as protectors the cropping ears were done to prevent attacker from getting the advance the dog which is the same reason they are docked.
Tail docking depending of the breed your hunters was so they didn't damage the tail ,get stuck it the undergrowth or scared to prey away. Breeds like Jack russel with tail would bury each other underground when flushing out prey.
Hope that helps
Where is the Akita? Does UK include them in a different group?? Canada they show in the Working Group - surprised not to see them.
Lori the Akita is shown in the utility group
The Bernese is a beauty!
nice to watch it.. i wishd id had some day newie.bullmastiff and saint bernard
That St Bernard is beautiful
i wishd id had somw day newfie., saint and a great dane
Love seeing a doberman with natural uncropped ears. Looks adorable.
Grayjing Hutongz looks odd
Looked so sweet
Go the Boxer!
OMG at 3:58 that dog is sooo cute and it’s my favourite dog ever !
14:45 actually, in german 'Schnauzer' is a colloquial word for mustache, not bearded snout
The leonberger was absolutly impressing!!! Bad winner choise!
I loved that way they pronounced Rottweiler
Siberian husky looks very unusual for Siberian Husky.
vbatishchev you are probably used to seeing them oversized and in bolder colors
@@straywolf6669 precisely. It is a sled dog. Also it has to have blue eyes. Those eyes give husky incredible look.
@@user-0xDEEDBEEF Brown eyes are perfectly acceptable according to the standard and commonly seen in FCI shows as well. But yes, huskies at Crufts always seem lighter to me as well compared to what I have seen in FCI shows. Still, racing huskies are even lighter! ☺️
Nonsense. Excellent individual. Actually working days before the show date. (And there's NOTHING wrong with brown eyes.)
vbatishchev blue eyes = eye issues
the working groud is my favourite
My favorite bit was when the lady kissed her Leonburger
That Bullmastiff was sooo beautiful 😍😍😍
Beautiful giant schnauzer. I’m a bit biased because I have one 😂
Most handsome dog is a mastiff
ide be so intimidated if a giant schnauzer just walked into my room while i was trying to sleep.
That Great Dane looks amazing. A mountain of a dog!
The Great Dane is beautiful
I've never seen a wonderful Bernese Mountain Dog.....beautiful
They are so beautiful! popular in Canada
Jeans!!
the great dane is nice
Can't understand, why in this group one of the best of it, the Fila Brasileiro ( Brasilian Mastiff) is banushid in England, while you can see on the catwalk Rotti, Russian Schnauzer, Doberman, Howawart ....all breeds with a high protection drive too! The Fila Brasileiro is one of the best farmdogs ever, outstanding! We are working cattle with them. And its also a very rustic, helthy and beautiful breed. How many of the presented breeds in the ring come along with overbreed issues??? And for real...anybody think, a Mastin Neapolitano or English Mastiff still cut work a day out on a farm doing the cattle drive?🤣
I am impressed that there are no docked tails or cut ears. Wish they would stop this world wide.
But it looks so cool
Bell Iron Fist its healthy for them to
Agreed
How is it healthy?
Well, I'm not spaying my Doberman either. It's such invasive surgery and I never cut her nails because they should be left to grow naturally. Not going to vaccinate either. Puncturing my dog's skin is abusive.
Beautiful boxer
neopolitan mastiff are very strong havey bone and fighting dogs breeds
i wishd id had some day saint bernard. newfie.rottweiler and great dane
i wishd id had newfie and saint bernard
Wow, so weird to see certain breeds "natural"...
I know! I feel like dobermans without cropped ears looks so friendly and not mean haha
Why'd you quote natural?
@@marianatoma6355 floppy ears are technically not natural. Google domestication syndrome.
@@mudfootprints403 yeah well cutting those ears and bandaging them up doesn't remove the syndrome, it's also seen in a lot of domesticated animals, it happened when they tried to domesticate foxes, we can't dp anything about it and I'm pretty sure even dogs who don't have floppy ears have it, although I could be mistaken
i wishd id had newfie. saint bernard. leonberger. and 2 golden retrrievers
Can't understand why the beautiful Fila Brasileiro breed is banded in the UK and all the others of his size, Neapolian, Bullmastiff, Rottweiler, Dobermann, Tibetarian and RussTerrier can be showed??!!??
The German Shepard is not a working dog which surprises me as they were originally designed as a sheep dog protector, and of course guard dog, military dog, sniffer dog, police dog, if this is not a working breed then I don't know what is ???????
They are in the Pastoral Group as they were originally sheep herders. The KC broke up the Working Group as it was getting far too large.
agree
I still don't understand why countries keep banning the cropping of ears. It healthier for the dog and protects them if they are attacked. There are documented cases where people and animals hold or bite the ears in order to keep them from attacking them. The cropping of ears in dogs grestly decreases the chance of ear infections by a large margin and there are many videos out there that describe this.
Sydney Butler oh just be honest with yourself and admit it’s because you like how it looks.
@@BeanyOwns I never said that I wrote this off of bias, it is true it gives the dog a rougher, more rugged look but if you would actually do a simple Google search you would see how it is good for the dog. Different breeds have different standards and purposes for their long ears like hound dogs but everyone know how a main majority of those dogs get chronic ear infections because of how their ear canal is shaped and that the ear flap doesn't allow the canal to breath. Debris gets trapped in there and it causes infections which to my knowledge are the second highest reason for dogs being brought to the vet, I haven't checked this statistic in a while so I may be off. People so often are misguided by shelters and the news with how pit bulls or fighting dogs have their ears cropped and it sets a negative connotation to cropped ears but in reality its safer and healthier for the dog.
Agreed! It should be the owner's decision. Thank God I live in the USA land of the FREE.
@@4Khyla Yup, free to harm your animals 😂 congrats
@@sydneybutler8988 Another simple Google search later:
1. Cleaning and washing your dog's ears is a great way to prevent ear infections! A small price for a healthy dog and a better solution than cutting the whole flap off.
Don't have time to clean your dog? Don't get a dog.
If it's such a prevalent problem for floppy ears to cause such problems why isn't it standard practice to crop all floppy eared dogs?
Because it's for the looks first, health far far back at second place. Let's not pretend it's anything else.
Why oh why, can't people pronounce Newfoundland correctly.......................
It's Newf~in~Land and should always rhyme with "understand" when spoken correctly. Also, the proper name for The Labrador Retriever is The Lessor Newfoundland. Some Englishman decided to rename The Lessor Newfoundland back in the 1800's, it should revert to its original name.
These people are the worlds worst dog handlers Hahahahahahahahahaha
Not one dog is a loser....
When was the last time a Great Dane won? Will Tibetan Mastiffs ever be picked? Year after year, same old same old: Boxers. Zzzzzz
I wish boxers didn't have smushed in snouts...
6th Comment, Go Boxer
Hello dog's
Ah sad they arent cropped or docked especially the doberman
It's illegal. You don't mutilate an animal for looks.
Why waste money on those useless cosmetic procedures
Agreed.
Halos Liberator you Aint my dad shutup
OneTon yes you're better off being the idiot you are
Newfie robbed, crufts in the mud
OMG, how horrible
Why
Rainer Petrulat what ??
Oversized, fat dogs and ...... handler. All dogs are Showline and not the real working dogs. The judge touched every dog, but she don´t know why...Where are the real working dogs?
@@rainerpetrulat2887 it's crufts they don't care about that stuff, I agree there should be a competition for only working line dogs
