$700 First Car - Will it run? Part 1 of 2.

- Carson bought a non-running VW EOS from a very nice neighbor with plans to repair and drive it as his first car. All we knew about it when we started the project is that the VW engine died suddenly and would not start. We inspected the EOS for a broken timing belt and found it to be fine. The problem turned out to be a broken valve timing chain and a broken timing chain tensioner. After removing the head from the BPY engine we sent it to the head shop for a complete valve job. Because the 2007 EOS is an interference engine, all eight of the intake valves had contacted piston heads after the chain failed. The head shop reconditioned the head to look and work like new. This is part 1 of 2.

Really enjoy the videos. You are teaching your sons some incredibly valuable skills beyond just turning a wrench; you are teaching them to be problem solvers and that will help them as they encounter all kinds of challenges in life. Can't wait to see Part 2.

Hi Steve, great video, that borescope camera tool is a cool thing to have. No shortage of helpers at the Steve Vigus garage. That VW EOS is going to make a great first time car. Editing and music was great. -Johanna...
Wow, Steve, you and your sons are multi-talented beyond imagination. Great video. Where is part two?
It's in the queue. There has been an interesting twist or two in the story. I really need to make time to tell it.
I like the new video keep it up
That pesky little chain. Always wondered why they didn't just have 2 gears for the timing belt, my 91 2.0 16v Jetta and the 2.2 5cyl in the Audi are the same way. Some things never change.
Bro you son I going not to be sad when he realizes it is a women's car
Shhhhh...he didn't know that. Check out the other video for the car that replaced it.
Where is part 2?
Worked on it today actually. We got jet ski fever and put it off.
You guys spent way to much time on this car in my opinion.
