    Demon’s Souls bosses are jokes for veterans for the most part, however not having bonfires everywhere and specially not next to bosses means this game requieres the player to interact with the areas of the game way more than the other games (kinda like the opposite of Sekiro, which allows to kill most non-boss enemies in 1 hit with the stealth mechanic)

      the main thing you have to get a handle on (which i'm sure you have by now) is the weapon upgrade system. the sooner you get a +7 or better weapon (or+4/5 of the specialty upgrade paths) the smoother everything goes. You can get a damn strong weapon super fast once you know where things are, and all of a sudden the game isn't quite so hard. Killing things in 1 or 2 shots makes a big difference vs killing them in 3 or more. Same goes for HP, if you die in 4 or more hits you'll die far less than if you die in 2 or 3.

      @@PureYear it doesn't give it to you. You have to complete the entirety of world 2 and arrive at the final boss in pure white world tendency. It's something you more often than not need to be aware of, because if you're not, odds are you're just not going to get it. Demon's souls is easy if you understand the weapon upgrade system and have awareness of where the items you need actually are and how to farm them. Ignorance of these things makes this game significantly harder.
      also that weapon he has isnt super easy to wield at low levels. You need the adequate strength, as well as adequate endurance. Very likely that if you rush to it you will have neither, and if you do, you'll have low max hp.

      I'd assume DeSR is in fact easier, because it is less clunky. I only played the original, where the most issues I had with completion were the clunky controls. Something like no omnidirectional rolling when locked on or weird hitboxes, both of which, if I am not mistaken were changed in the remake. Higher framerate and better animations for improved readability of attacks are also present in the remake i think and all of that has a tremendous effect on gameplay.

Personally I found Demon Souls to be very difficult compared to Dark Souls and Bloodbourne. • @Aldourien
    @Aldourien 3 года назад +88

    Framerate plays a lot into the difficulty. The attacks may feel sluggish on the PS5, but because you have sometimes more than double the framerate you have more time to react to attacks. Also with modern animation tech, blending the various animations is smoother and removes a lot of the janky 'suddenness' of quick attacks from the old days.
    I remember the boss of Boletarian Palace being very difficult on PS3 since his attacks are a lot faster compared to other bosses in DeS. Since you had barely had a framerate of 30 to react it was hard to gauge when his attacks began.

      However, NG+ was always the hardest and roughest spike in Demon's compared to the rest of games. Add onto that the fact you can play in hard mode (Pure black world tendency) and the game is really tough. HOWEVER, the game is also broken in regards to builds. Some weapons are insanely powerful (Northern Regalia), spells (Firestorm) and insane health regen makes it almost impossible to die.

If the reasoning is because there are multiple demons, then it should be "Demons' Souls", with the apostrophe after the "s", but it's not, implying there is only one demon with multiple souls, which is obviously not the case. I'd highly emphasize Sekiro and Bloodborne. With the Demon's Souls remake, I have now played every game in the series and I would say that these two are absolutely my favorite games.
      If you like Dark Souls 3, you will definitely find some similarities the "fluidness" of movement in Bloodborne, and you'll notice an emphasis on dodging. Sekiro is also fluid, but has an emphasis on Parrying. Both games are just so, so good.
      I also really like the Demon's Souls remake too, even if it is a bit easier than the other games. It's very atmospheric and has a charming quality to it

    Demon’s Souls is easily one of, if not the most, exploitable games in the franchise in terms of game knowledge making the game easier. Fighting The Adjudicator earlier than you’re supposed to and taking advantage of his AI gives you a huge amount of souls. Rushing to Patches in order to stock up on cheap healing items and using the Thief’s Ring on The Old Hero are some other examples of making the game super easy.

      @@xviii9893 I know what you're saying because FF7 and Re2/Re3 are WILDLY different gameplay-wise from their originals. But I prefer to just call them more liberal remakes (not a real definition) while Bluepoint specializes in more conservative remakes. Grezzo's Ocarina of Time 3DS was also a conservative remake, for example.
      Point is, "remake" as a noun has existed long before gaming got remakes, and gameplay obviously wasn't a factor to assess what is a film or TV remake is, so it shouldn't just magically become a factor for a videogame remake. Nobody looks at "Lion King 2019" and asks about the gameplay. As far as I'm concerned, a remake involves the production assets being remade from scratch or near-scratch to create a previously-existing art anew. From there, the designers can do whatever they want with gameplay changes (i.e. MGS the Twin Snakes).

  • @bluedotdinosaur

    I think it's not really easier than other Souls games, it's just the first and purest example of the design philosophy. Because of that, it is also the cleanest in design. The methods for mastering individual enemies and bosses are clearer. Character building and combinations of items, weapons, and magic is the least obtuse and vague. Later games strove to add more depth by expanding the scope and increasing complexity - more combinations of stats, items, and magic. Enemies with more tricks and larger move sets.
    The level oriented structure of DeS also plays a factor. Every world has a part 1 section that is open and easy to explore, and there's five of them. That gives the player a ton of places to go and grind early soul levels. It also rewards the player with a TON of upgrade materials immediately if they hop around all five stage ones and clean them out before moving on.

    this is my first time running through demon's souls after playing every other souls'bourne games (and half of sekiro, i need to finish it) and tbh... this game is not hard lol. the beginning is tough, ngl. but last night i played for like 4 hours, and at SL 50ish with a claymore+7 beat: the fool's idol, leech monger, adjucator, flame lurker, and dragon god all on first try only dying like 3 or 4 times throughout the entire play session, none of which were a death to a boss. the man eater beat me up like 4 times but i grinded at the 4-2 bonfire for a bit, and leveled up enough to switch weapons to the meat cleaver and absolutely DESTROYED the maneater.... i wish it was more of a challenge tbh but the game is incredible, in terms of world design, graphics, and sound. solid 9/10 for me so far
