- This video I teach my nephew how to weld with a MIG / Flux were feed welder. The welder we use in this video is a new flux welder in the Harbor freight Titanium welder line, it's the Flux125 and it's a great little inverter welder for the price, especially if your just starting out as a beginner. This video goes over the basics of welding if your just starting out.

73 years old and I have never welded before. I bought a Titanium 125 today and am anxious to give it a try. Hope I can catch on as fast as Liam. Good job, young man.
Man, you should make a channel
@@MuayThaiDreadlock I second this!!
Hope you got it down man welding is great and once you get it down if you weld a lot get a good miller welder or any higher end machine. Best of luck to ya man!
Awesome! Give us an update on your progress
D R give us an update
Kid’s lucky to have you as an uncle. I always involve my 14 year old son in my projects. Sometimes, I delay work till he gets home from school, just so he can learn hands on. This kind of work not only teaches them a skill, they also learn values not taught in school. Sure beats playing video games.
Thanks for a great tutorial.
Right on thanks! I really appreciate your great comment and I’m happy to hear you are teaching your kids to work on stuff.
There’s a lot of kids these days playing video games and not getting out and learning how to build stuff as much any more.
My son is only 2.5 years old but he likes tools and picking with stuff in my shop. You are definitely raising some good kids :) that will stand out as capable individuals as they get older. Take care
Yeah I did too when I didn't feel like taking out the trash x😂🤭
Absolutely love seeing high school aged kids looking into welding, even if is just a hobby for them.
Right on! I hope this video gets other young people involved with welding. Take care 🙂
I've just turned 20, and I'm trying to learn.
I’m 13 and I bought that welder yesterday and I’m learning🙂
@@thatonecarkid442 That’s awesome 👍
Man I would have loved to own a welder like that at the age of 13! I’m really happy for you 🙂 Have fun!
I've done a little bit of stick and mig in my ag fan class and looking to get something good and portable. Been looking at the same one in the video
I told my wife MIG welding was just like piping decorative icing little circles onto a cake, where the height of the tip above the cake and the constant speed of movement were critical, and my god her first weld was better than mine!!
Haha that’s great!
At the age of 53 and now living in Tx, I think I went from working something small on my fence, to picking up welding as a hobby. All because of you. Great Video. You are a fantastic Teacher. Thanks a ton! I can't wait to mess up everything you just taught.
I weld for a living but I still like watching these. He did a fine job for a first time 👍
If you ever get a chance to try gas shielded flux core I think you would really like it. The slag comes off like a 7018 weld and it leaves a really nice bead.
Right on! Thanks for checking out our video :) I definitely look forward to working on some more welding projects with him. I have only welded once with dual shield wire, it definitely welds nice, one of these days I will buy a spool of it to have around my shop. Take care :)
Yeah really. It took me years off and on to finally get the hang of it.
Man, best uncle ever. Great job and great instruction. Way to go Liam. He’s a natural! I’m just learning and this was the best video I’ve seen yet. Thanks brother 🙏🏼
Thanks man! This video was a good evening working with Liam, he’s a good dude.
Keep and practicing, you will definitely get the hang of it soon. I’m glad my video was helpful 😊
👏👏👏 👊👌👌👌👺
GREAT THIS IS GREAT.
🇺🇸 made in the USA. 🇺🇸
Just what we need down to earth 101 . no-bull video
There are so many people that need the basics up front and close , Hands-On like this this young man did excellent great job ! Mike your videos are fantastic they're like I'm sitting next to you listening to you because they're from your heart they're not manufactured like Hollywood once again thanks for the great video and sharing your knowledge you are a great neighbor God bless and best of ,,,I like the video on your ride on that trail remind me when I was a young man I'm 71 now
Dude your a good instructor. I couldn't believe how good that first seam your nephew welded after so little practice came out. He's gonna be a pro before he gets out of highschool if he sticks with it.
New sub and new welder. I’m 62 and learning how to get more self sufficient for the coming times. Thanks for a great class!! You’re clearly a great teacher and Liam’s welds proved it! Looking forward to learning more! Thanks again!!👍🏻
Right on Keith! Thanks for watching 👍
This is such a great video. Teach the kids to work. It's sad how few kids his age learn these skills.
Right on! Thanks for checking out my video. It’s definitely important to pass on the skills to give others the ability to make and create things 🙂
Awesome clear instructions for beginning welders. Michael did a great job explaining welding techniques using layman terms - very easy to understand what he was saying, and his demonstrations were not difficult to follow. Again, great job Mike!
I came for the information - but I'm really impressed by the quality of your mentorship and positivity. Awesome all around.
Thanks Eric I really appreciate it 🙂👍
I haven't welded anything for 40 years but now getting back into it. Based on your review of the HB Flux125 I ordered one but due to the popularity of the product HB cannot ship until mid March which is fine as it gives me plenty of time to absorb some basics thanks to your excellent videos!
Might want to check your local stores. Online said mid March for me today too but I went to one close to me and they had 3
Well the young man was doing fine; he was able to do so because you are an excellent teacher. I never welded before but You just sold me on the idea I could learn. Funny thing I just saw a wire feed welder at Harbor Freight on sale today! I’m an old geezer also.
never too young to learn a new skill!
Your a great teacher Mike, just started welding myself at age 52, really appreciate it 👍
I’m 46 and just about to start.,
Patience and willingness to teach and learn goes a very long way! Great job!
You are a decent human being..... Thank you for the info .... I learned a lot from this video
Thought Liam's first weld was great. 65 yrs old here and just picked up a cheapo mig/flux welder. Out of the gate didn't go well but a few RUclips videos later and I'm ready for another crack at it. Thanks!
Mike, I have watched many welding videos and must compliment you on your ability to clearly share information and technique. You, Sir, have given me the confidence to start my learning curve. I figure at worst I will have to watch RUclips videos on how to rebuild a garage after a fire. LOL!
As others have said, nice to pass your knowledge onto the next generation. Well done
damn I was pleasantly surprised how educational this was. Happy I stuck around
Thanks 🙂
One thing I noticed that I also do is the gun angle gets just a little steeper toward the end so it tends to be hotter and craters the puddle or worse. Got to keep that same angle, distance and speed all the way down and ease off at the edge. Good luck Liam you are very lucky to have a patient uncle with a shop. I'm lucky to - my son taught me how to MIGflux long after my rough early oxyacetylene days! He's always quick to tell me "that'll grind out pops!"
Awesome. Many teenagers today are not in touch with learning a trade. Uncle of the Year!
I’m 59 years old and bought my first welder today. Got the Vulcan 220 multipurpose from H.F. You’re never too old to learn something new! Appreciate your videos a ton. Thank you.
It’s never to late to learn new things!
You will really enjoy having the ability to weld, it really opens up new possibilities 👍
Take care Alan 🙂
He's a natural! And his uncle is really good at teaching!
Thanks for checking out our video and commenting 🙂👍
I was just going to say Liam did amazing for 1st time weld!!!! Congrats on showing your youth some good life skills!

Just got a titanium 140 welder today (June 27 2022) I came here and this helped a lot
I appreciate your effort in teaching us how to weld mate thank you ,Rookie in a shed in Australia ,
Well done Mike, like yourself I think it's important to pass any Skills/Knowledge/Trades we have onto the younger generation. It's a great feeling watching them succeed in what they are doing. Well done Liam!
Best regards from The U.K.
I’m 47. Never welded. Headed to Harbour freight to pick one of these up. Great tutorial here and the kid made some great welds!
Hopin I can make some like that!😀
Excellent video, and you`re very good teacher! That young man did AWESOME with his first time welding!!! From where i come from in welding, the young man is a natural!
This kid’s a natural...and you’re an awesome teacher! Apple pie all around!
My wife just got me a wire feed welder for Christmas. It is really cool. Definitely found a new hobby. Thanks for such a great instructional video! My welds are way better from watching this video.
Thanks again!
Nice
Hi Micheal. Its great to you see teaching a young man how to weld. We need more people like you these days. Keep it the great work!
You're a great teacher! Positive affirmation goes a long way for timid learners
Thank you 😊
Lucky guy there, Liam. What a great teacher.

Just picked up my first mig welder from Harbor Freight.. great video for beginners, like me, gave me a good idea of where to start... thank you for your expertise and willingness to teach :)
You're a very good teacher, Mike.
Thank you!
Talent runs in the family! Good teacher great student. Good job uncle
You are a very good instructor. Thank you.
I needed this video, everything was on point and easy to understand, Now off I go!!! Thanks!
I just bought the T125. Your videos on the welder are very good for a person who have never welded before. Thanks
He did pretty good for the first time. It reminds me of the times I spent with my Dad learning how to work on cars.
Great video. Very well explained. The young man did a great job, fantastic job for the first time.
Best welding tutorial video I seen yet. Much obliged.
Best beginner video yet. Kids a quick learner. I can only hope for similar results this week when I try for my first time.
Great video. Anyone who learns a trade, will never go hungry.
I'm not good at welding but I think it is kind of fun. I think it is important to remember to enjoy it, just my 2 cents. He did super good for a first timer.
You definitely are right, it’s important to enjoy it and have a good time. That’s the best way to learn just about anything 👍 Thanks for commenting Tim 🙂
This is how welding should be taught!

Great reminders/welding tips!!! I welded a lot back in Shop when schools had shops. Hmmm, 43 years ago, ouch. Keep the great video''s rolling out. I might have to try this again.
Positive encouraging feedback with specifics on how to do better. Reminds me of how Mr Boyd taught me in shop class. Well done.
This was the best! Video out of all of the other videos I’ve watch. So informative! I feel way more confident. I’m self taught on soldering, and I want to learn to how to weld. Thank you!
What a great video, thank you. Your young apprentice did great. He will master the Force soon enough.
Thanks, your nephew gave me confidence at 57 yrs old. I picked up the Titanium 125 and made my 1st weld. Actually turned out well and smooth with good penetration. Just need to work on holding a straight line.
That’s awesome Kurt 👍
Hello am grateful for the time you are spending helping beginners like me. I worked in a foundry and cast mandrels for hoses for Gates rubber . when there was porosity some we touched in with tig. I really enjoyed. The little I learned. Chose to pick up welding again . looking forward to gain knowledge. have a great day.
Wish I’d had an uncle like you growing up. Solid dude!👊🏻
Thanks man 😊👍
Thank you so much for posting. I cannot overstate how much this video helped me. Lots of useful information and to the point.
Awesome I’m glad this video helped you out!
Excellent, im saving my pennys to buy this rig. Im no welder but have been around welding for years, Im making my kid watch this when he comes over.
Had my first mig welding experience this weekend. Decided to check out some tips on mig and flux . This was a great video! Definitely worth a thumbs up and subscribe
I give both the student and the teacher an A+.
Thanks I appreciate it 🙂
Dang!… he did pretty good for first ever welds!
Saw your video for the small welder from harbor freight, probably one of the best videos I have seen. No BS and wasted time clear and consider. Great job. Would intise me to make that purchase and then weld😎
Really great instruction video. Liam seems to catch onto this very readily. Good looking welds.
Good job Liam you got a good teacher
Makes me wanna go buy this welder and I don’t even weld.!😂👊
Good Job Liam!
Great introduction as well!
Excellent Video! Thanks 😊🙏 ~E
I’m a beginner with a similar machine and your nephew made it look easy. I destroyed a lot of scrap pieces and still can’t lay a bead half as good as him. I will head your tips to him and keep on keeping on. Thank you
What an awesome and informative video. I have just acquired a Parkside pfds 33b4 90amp gasless. Never welded before but very practically minded and hands on engineer. I was nearly as good as your man, after a few goes. Mike, you're a STAR* thank you!!
Its good to see another young person learning a new skill. The world we live in would be 1000 times better if this happened more often than not. Cell phones, video games,TV, junk media of all types, etc, etc, etc needs to put aside and ignored., I feel that folks, young and old alike should learn a new handy skill that can be applied at home. You never know when you'll need it. Fabrication skills OF ALL TYPES are PRICELESS!!! For example... who sews anymore? Seriously. Its a good skill to have! I can't count how many people that don't know how to even set a fence post, or change a flat tire. You ROCK Mike! Everybody thanks you. I wish you could be my next door neighbor. That would be dangerous. :)
Great job teaching, and great job to Liam.Hes a quick learner.
God bless you Mike and your nephew. I enjoy the video more for spending quality time with your Nephew. He may not care to weld later in life, but he'll always remember the time he spent with his uncle. I learned a lot from your tips and tricks. I am going to weld the bed of my dump truck. Unfortunately I have the harbor freight 125A flux core. It is not as good as the titanium.
So bought my first welding helmet and eager to learn at work. You're video really helped me get a feel for what I'm doing. I'm 39 years old and so happy for your awesome video
Awesome video great job and helpful tips and explaining ,will watch this several times before I try welding. THANK YOU
Great video thank you. your nephew did a good job for his first time 👍👍
Thanks Mike . GREAT video ! I've been stick welding for years, but I'm going to buy a Hobart Handler 100 this week to weld lighter material. This video will DEFINATELY help me get started.
12:12 Well your backward "E"s, in our neck of the wood, look a lot like our garden variety "9"s but what a great teaching tutorial and you did an excellent job on all accounts. Thank you for the great content.
Excellent video! You make it look easy. I'm burning holes and splattering my way to learning how to weld.
Keep on practicing Thomas 👍 you will definitely get it figured out 🙂
Mike as usual great video, I had previously been struggling but I took the tips from this video and a recommendation from one of your other videos and purchased a Hynade 140D flux core welder which arrived today. I unboxed the machine, I rewatched this video and i gotta tell you in 90 minutes I was getting great results ... I'm running around the shop looking for things to weld!!!.. I'm so excited, I did 3/16", 1/4", 14 ga. even some 18 ga.. The Hynade was a great suggestion and your videos are excellent in every respect. Thank you and take care,
Jeff
That’s awesome 👍
Really great video Mike! I’m watching them because it’s been years since I have welded and I have never used a flux core welder. I’m going to buy one of those welders to start back welding. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with everyone.
Just bought one of these a month ago. Went through quite a few tips before I got the hang of it. Really good welder
This is a great video. After watching a bunch of your other videos I ordered the titanium flux 125, and I am eager for it to get here. I can't wait to start playing with it, and learning the art of welding (you make it look easy). Love your channel keep the videos coming.
Got it?
@@liveandletlive2894 yes, it's a great little welder
@@jeremyrifenburg9638 think it can weld a hitch reciever onto a vehicle?
Your video confirmed my purchase to get started.
Right on! You will have fun welding, I have a lot of videos covering fab work, you can definitely pick up ideas and techniques seeing some of the stuff I have built over the years. Take care
You're a great (patient) teacher, Mike. I bought one of those welders about a month ago. You've inspired me to give it a try.
Liked and Subscribed.
A very good video mate.
Love the fact you got a first timer to weld on camera. I have been watching loads of welding how to’s because I want to get a welder and start welding my self.
And now I see stuff that an actual beginner would do.
I think when I will strike the first arc I will piss myself 😂
Dude's a welding pro already lol. Awesome video 👍🏼
Thank you for the video. I have had an 90amp harbor flux welder for a number of years and some of your tips definitely would of helped me out along time ago. So 1, I am going to get the new one your using here and put some more of your tips to work for me I am sure they will help me out big time.
Right on! I think you will find this welder to be a nice upgrade to your 90 amp welder, I had one of those years ago and I definitely recommend upgrading! Take care
Extremely informative video. I really felt like I was in the room being taught in person. I've watched a bunch of other videos that were longer and I learned a lot more in this 23 minute video I'm a new subscriber
I am going to purchase flux welder and have been watching bunch of video's and I like how you are showing techniques for welding. Thank you.
Another great video, and you helped your nephew, Awesome!
Right on! Thanks for checking out my video. It’s nice to be able to teach him another skill 👍
Thanks to both of you. I'm totally new to welding and getting ready to pickup one of these machines. Many things to think about and to know what to work on and what to look at later. Less frustration on the front end if you get your technique out first
Dang I wish I had been able to pick it up that fast! Great job Liam!
Great video. Makes me want to try welding for the first time.
This was a very good teaching video. I just bought this welder and am a beginner like Liam (never welded). I have it set up and I'm about to go try it. I am now armed with a lot more knowledge and confidence. Thank you.
Good to hear! Have fun my friend 👍
I really enjoyed your video, I learned a lot, my mower deck is about worn out and to buy a new one is over $ 800.00 but with the purchase of the 125, helmet a can of spray paint, made some friends trailer Mfg for scraps of metal all repaired for less than $ 250.00 thanks for getting my fears over welding to rest. I was a service tech for steamfitter union for over 35 years and never touched a welder till in my retirement
thanks for the video...i welded in high school and then went to college for welding at TSTC in waco texas but had a car wreck and lost my scholarship back in 2004 .....but i have not welded since then....i just got a welder today and used your video to brush up on my welding skills and it was exactly what i needed ...your nephew is a natural at welding btw lol....again ty
Thanks Tim! I’m glad our video has helped you out 👍 I’m glad to hear you are getting back into welding, it’s an awesome skill to have.
What kind of welder did you pick up?
Just watched your 6 items for beginners, then this video. You've earned another sub!
Thanks Chuck I appreciate the sub 👍
I have quite a few videos covering a lot of projects and tool info. I would suggest the salvaging cheap to free metal video I did. It gives a lot of tips on finding good metal. Take care
Dang that is some nice looking welds the first two pieces you joined together I'm kinda jealous
Kid did a great job! Much respect to his awesome teacher! Thanks for sharing Bro, and keep it up young man!
I am getting ready for first weld with this same welder 🥳. Gonna be welding 1/16 sq tubing vertical to 3 inch balcony railing bottom plates... Better practice first for sure... This was just what I needed, great video .. Liam did great 👍
I've had my titanium 200 for about a month . Started out with flux core realized it was way too easy now I'm learning stick LOL
The Titanium 200 is great! I really like mine. Yes stick welding definitely takes a little bit more practice but I’m sure you will be laying down nice beads soon. Then it’s on to TIG :)
I have a titanium 200 as well I have it for about 6 months maybe now I'm a beginner welder I love mine 200
Also a thumbs up on the T200! Got one a couple months back, running fluxcore for now and it welds great! Tried stick, haven't had any practice in years, turns out I suck! Will have to do some more stick practice.
