73 years old and I have never welded before. I bought a Titanium 125 today and am anxious to give it a try. Hope I can catch on as fast as Liam. Good job, young man.
Hope you got it down man welding is great and once you get it down if you weld a lot get a good miller welder or any higher end machine. Best of luck to ya man!
Kid’s lucky to have you as an uncle. I always involve my 14 year old son in my projects. Sometimes, I delay work till he gets home from school, just so he can learn hands on. This kind of work not only teaches them a skill, they also learn values not taught in school. Sure beats playing video games. Thanks for a great tutorial.
Right on thanks! I really appreciate your great comment and I’m happy to hear you are teaching your kids to work on stuff. There’s a lot of kids these days playing video games and not getting out and learning how to build stuff as much any more. My son is only 2.5 years old but he likes tools and picking with stuff in my shop. You are definitely raising some good kids :) that will stand out as capable individuals as they get older. Take care
At the age of 53 and now living in Tx, I think I went from working something small on my fence, to picking up welding as a hobby. All because of you. Great Video. You are a fantastic Teacher. Thanks a ton! I can't wait to mess up everything you just taught.
If you ever get a chance to try gas shielded flux core I think you would really like it. The slag comes off like a 7018 weld and it leaves a really nice bead.
Right on! Thanks for checking out our video :) I definitely look forward to working on some more welding projects with him. I have only welded once with dual shield wire, it definitely welds nice, one of these days I will buy a spool of it to have around my shop. Take care :)
Man, best uncle ever. Great job and great instruction. Way to go Liam. He’s a natural! I’m just learning and this was the best video I’ve seen yet. Thanks brother 🙏🏼
Thanks man! This video was a good evening working with Liam, he’s a good dude. Keep and practicing, you will definitely get the hang of it soon. I’m glad my video was helpful 😊
New sub and new welder. I’m 62 and learning how to get more self sufficient for the coming times. Thanks for a great class!! You’re clearly a great teacher and Liam’s welds proved it! Looking forward to learning more! Thanks again!!👍🏻
Well the young man was doing fine; he was able to do so because you are an excellent teacher. I never welded before but You just sold me on the idea I could learn. Funny thing I just saw a wire feed welder at Harbor Freight on sale today! I’m an old geezer also.
I’m 59 years old and bought my first welder today. Got the Vulcan 220 multipurpose from H.F. You’re never too old to learn something new! Appreciate your videos a ton. Thank you.
Dude your a good instructor. I couldn't believe how good that first seam your nephew welded after so little practice came out. He's gonna be a pro before he gets out of highschool if he sticks with it.
Awesome clear instructions for beginning welders. Michael did a great job explaining welding techniques using layman terms - very easy to understand what he was saying, and his demonstrations were not difficult to follow. Again, great job Mike!

Mike, I have watched many welding videos and must compliment you on your ability to clearly share information and technique. You, Sir, have given me the confidence to start my learning curve. I figure at worst I will have to watch RUclips videos on how to rebuild a garage after a fire. LOL!
Well done Mike, like yourself I think it's important to pass any Skills/Knowledge/Trades we have onto the younger generation. It's a great feeling watching them succeed in what they are doing. Well done Liam! Best regards from The U.K.
Thanks for the video,I just got the Titanium 125 flux core welder to repair my exhaust. My cat to be exact, with your tips I was able to repair the outlet pipe of the cat. It looked like Swiss cheese, with pin holes all over. Your tips made closing those holes very easy. Also some bigger spaces. Thanks again for the video and tips.
Excellent video, and you`re very good teacher! That young man did AWESOME with his first time welding!!! From where i come from in welding, the young man is a natural!
Just picked up my first mig welder from Harbor Freight.. great video for beginners, like me, gave me a good idea of where to start... thank you for your expertise and willingness to teach :)
I’m 47. Never welded. Headed to Harbour freight to pick one of these up. Great tutorial here and the kid made some great welds! Hopin I can make some like that!😀
Thanks, your nephew gave me confidence at 57 yrs old. I picked up the Titanium 125 and made my 1st weld. Actually turned out well and smooth with good penetration. Just need to work on holding a straight line.

This was a very good teaching video. I just bought this welder and am a beginner like Liam (never welded). I have it set up and I'm about to go try it. I am now armed with a lot more knowledge and confidence. Thank you.
Saw your video for the small welder from harbor freight, probably one of the best videos I have seen. No BS and wasted time clear and consider. Great job. Would intise me to make that purchase and then weld😎
What an awesome and informative video. I have just acquired a Parkside pfds 33b4 90amp gasless. Never welded before but very practically minded and hands on engineer. I was nearly as good as your man, after a few goes. Mike, you're a STAR* thank you!!
So bought my first welding helmet and eager to learn at work. You're video really helped me get a feel for what I'm doing. I'm 39 years old and so happy for your awesome video
I really enjoyed your video, I learned a lot, my mower deck is about worn out and to buy a new one is over $ 800.00 but with the purchase of the 125, helmet a can of spray paint, made some friends trailer Mfg for scraps of metal all repaired for less than $ 250.00 thanks for getting my fears over welding to rest. I was a service tech for steamfitter union for over 35 years and never touched a welder till in my retirement
Its good to see another young person learning a new skill. The world we live in would be 1000 times better if this happened more often than not. Cell phones, video games,TV, junk media of all types, etc, etc, etc needs to put aside and ignored., I feel that folks, young and old alike should learn a new handy skill that can be applied at home. You never know when you'll need it. Fabrication skills OF ALL TYPES are PRICELESS!!! For example... who sews anymore? Seriously. Its a good skill to have! I can't count how many people that don't know how to even set a fence post, or change a flat tire. You ROCK Mike! Everybody thanks you. I wish you could be my next door neighbor. That would be dangerous. :)
I'm not good at welding but I think it is kind of fun. I think it is important to remember to enjoy it, just my 2 cents. He did super good for a first timer.
You definitely are right, it’s important to enjoy it and have a good time. That’s the best way to learn just about anything 👍 Thanks for commenting Tim 🙂
Probably one of the best videos for beginners to welding that I have seen - I just wish I had seen it several months ago, it would have saved me a lot of terrible welds ! At age 65 I am definitely an old dog trying hard to learn new tricks :).
This was the best! Video out of all of the other videos I’ve watch. So informative! I feel way more confident. I’m self taught on soldering, and I want to learn to how to weld. Thank you!
Had my first mig welding experience this weekend. Decided to check out some tips on mig and flux . This was a great video! Definitely worth a thumbs up and subscribe
Sir I want to thank you very much for being very explaining on every technique I’ve been watching welding videos and now one has been precise on how to do any welding. Thanks once again I really appreciate it Sir
Mike as usual great video, I had previously been struggling but I took the tips from this video and a recommendation from one of your other videos and purchased a Hynade 140D flux core welder which arrived today. I unboxed the machine, I rewatched this video and i gotta tell you in 90 minutes I was getting great results ... I'm running around the shop looking for things to weld!!!.. I'm so excited, I did 3/16", 1/4", 14 ga. even some 18 ga.. The Hynade was a great suggestion and your videos are excellent in every respect. Thank you and take care, Jeff
I spent months trying to teach myself how to weld years ago (before youtube existed) and eventually I gave up. I was using a 70 amp buzz box that I had picked up at Walmart with a variety of sticks. It was a horrible experience. Wish I had access to your videos back then. Definitely thankful for you taking the time to make them now.
@@gorillageeks5645 If only I had known that 25 years ago. All the welders I knew at the time told me to learn stick and since I didn't have much money at the time, that's what I tried. Unfortunately, all the welders I knew back then were either too busy or too drunk to show me what to do with the thing. Once I get some mig skills down, I may try stick again for fun, but probably not.
God bless you Mike and your nephew. I enjoy the video more for spending quality time with your Nephew. He may not care to weld later in life, but he'll always remember the time he spent with his uncle. I learned a lot from your tips and tricks. I am going to weld the bed of my dump truck. Unfortunately I have the harbor freight 125A flux core. It is not as good as the titanium.
I'm crowding 70 started welding off and on when I was a kid ,there are 11$ welds then there is 30$ welds, mine are at 13 dollar,my grandsons are welding my stuff now , great video good teacher
Thanks this is helpful. No one has ever given me any tips, and I just tried to do whatever to make stuff stick together. I’ve been putting the gun on way too much of an angle and putting way too much wire length out of the tip. And going too fast as well. Need to set up some pieces to practice
This is excellent, thank you for making this video. I'm just learning to weld and bought one of those welders like that one. Your tips have really helped me out big time.
That’s great! Thanks for checking out our video :) I think you will definitely be happy with that welder, it’s a great little machine! Take care Trevor
This is a great video. Lots of good information and it’s great to see a young person learning a skill that everyone should have. It’s disgusting that anyone would have nasty comments to make about this.
thanks for the video...i welded in high school and then went to college for welding at TSTC in waco texas but had a car wreck and lost my scholarship back in 2004 .....but i have not welded since then....i just got a welder today and used your video to brush up on my welding skills and it was exactly what i needed ...your nephew is a natural at welding btw lol....again ty
Thanks Tim! I’m glad our video has helped you out 👍 I’m glad to hear you are getting back into welding, it’s an awesome skill to have. What kind of welder did you pick up?
Thanks Chuck I appreciate the sub 👍 I have quite a few videos covering a lot of projects and tool info. I would suggest the salvaging cheap to free metal video I did. It gives a lot of tips on finding good metal. Take care
This is a great video. After watching a bunch of your other videos I ordered the titanium flux 125, and I am eager for it to get here. I can't wait to start playing with it, and learning the art of welding (you make it look easy). Love your channel keep the videos coming.
Dude what a great video you did. Exactly what I was looking for. Just bought a titanium 140 and can't wait to put this teachings to the test. Definetely will be spending lots of time practicing my skills. Just subscribed. Keep the teaching videos coming..
12:12 Well your backward "E"s, in our neck of the wood, look a lot like our garden variety "9"s but what a great teaching tutorial and you did an excellent job on all accounts. Thank you for the great content.
Hello Mike. I am a mixed media sculptor with thirty years of sculpting under my belt. I use wire armatures all the time. Very occasionally I have used MAP gas to do a little welding. I'm horrible at it, and it rarely really works for me. I have always been intimidated by arc welding...radiant energy, electric shock, burns...Yeah, I'm scared of chain-saws, too...very accident prone...I'm the kind of guy who manages to catch himself on fire. Anyway, I just want you to know that this video, along with your Titanium Flux 125 review, along with a lot of safety research, led me to finally make the leap. Super power acquired. My welds look like crap, but they are holding, and a lot of doors for sculpture armature have been opened. Thanks very much! Your videos are great!
A neat option is aluminum braising. It's basically soldering aluminum together to create a really strong weld joint. I actually made a few artistic pieces that way, I made a few lamps and a matching end table and bed table doing it. It's pretty fun, super simple and way stronger than you'd think. So if you ever work with aluminum, check it out. It's super cheap to get started since it's just a blowtorch and a few cheap braising rods. You can get good brand name gear and get started for under 50 bucks including safety usually. Just something I thought I'd share, not too many people know about it and I wish I knew about it much sooner!
Right on! You will have fun welding, I have a lot of videos covering fab work, you can definitely pick up ideas and techniques seeing some of the stuff I have built over the years. Take care
Thanks Mike . GREAT video ! I've been stick welding for years, but I'm going to buy a Hobart Handler 100 this week to weld lighter material. This video will DEFINATELY help me get started.

You are a very good instructor. Thank you.
Thanks for checking out our video :)
I think you will definitely be happy with that welder, it’s a great little machine! Take care Trevor
Excellent video! You make it look easy. I'm burning holes and splattering my way to learning how to weld.
Keep on practicing Thomas 👍 you will definitely get it figured out 🙂
He did pretty good for the first time. It reminds me of the times I spent with my Dad learning how to work on cars.
This is how welding should be taught!

This is a great video. Lots of good information and it’s great to see a young person learning a skill that everyone should have. It’s disgusting that anyone would have nasty comments to make about this.
One of the best vids Ive seen for beginners. Thanks for taking the time.
Thank you very much 🙂
Excellent. Thank you. Like D R I am 70 and just starting. I appreciate this video.
Good job Liam you got a good teacher

What kind of welder did you pick up?
Just watched your 6 items for beginners, then this video. You've earned another sub!
Thanks Chuck I appreciate the sub 👍
I have quite a few videos covering a lot of projects and tool info. I would suggest the salvaging cheap to free metal video I did. It gives a lot of tips on finding good metal. Take care
I just bought the T125. Your videos on the welder are very good for a person who have never welded before. Thanks
This is a great video. After watching a bunch of your other videos I ordered the titanium flux 125, and I am eager for it to get here. I can't wait to start playing with it, and learning the art of welding (you make it look easy). Love your channel keep the videos coming.

I think the Titanium series of welders are good, I really like my Titanium 200, I use it all the time 🙂
I am going to purchase flux welder and have been watching bunch of video's and I like how you are showing techniques for welding. Thank you.
Thanks you so much for simple and clear instruction. By teaching your nephew I believe you said, you taught me.
Right on thanks that’s great!
Outstanding video.....Your Nephew is a quick learner too. Congrats to him!
Thanks Matt
Great video. Makes me want to try welding for the first time.
12:12 Well your backward "E"s, in our neck of the wood, look a lot like our garden variety "9"s but what a great teaching tutorial and you did an excellent job on all accounts. Thank you for the great content.
Great job teaching, and great job to Liam.Hes a quick learner.
@@DanteYewToob thank you, that sound like a good option, too! :)
Awesome video great job and helpful tips and explaining ,will watch this several times before I try welding. THANK YOU
Dang I wish I had been able to pick it up that fast! Great job Liam!
Makes me wanna go buy this welder and I don’t even weld.!😂👊

Good job on the first weld. I see a welder in you all day.
Your video confirmed my purchase to get started.
Right on! You will have fun welding, I have a lot of videos covering fab work, you can definitely pick up ideas and techniques seeing some of the stuff I have built over the years. Take care
Thank you. Nice intro for a beginner (like me). Very easy to follow and concise guidance. Appreciate it!
Dang!… he did pretty good for first ever welds!
Thanks Mike . GREAT video ! I've been stick welding for years, but I'm going to buy a Hobart Handler 100 this week to weld lighter material. This video will DEFINATELY help me get started.
