Nice, I recently bought the same machine but bought a RUT Mfg TreeSlayer because I couldn’t swing the cost of a mulcher…

Looks great! Do you get freaked out you'd hit rocks or something in the snow? Won't that hurt your machine?

It's good to avoid hitting rocks but unfortunately it's part of running a mulcher head. I'm in New England where some properties are full of rocks of all sizes so I run carbide teeth in the mulching head which handles the rocks a lot better than standard steel knives. Also for what it's worth there are always rocks hiding under the dirt so the snow doesn't make it that much worse!

What was the brand and cost of your mulching head?

Indeco IMH4, it's a tough little unit, paired perfectly to the KX040-4

@@thirdhandearthworks Nice, that’s a brand my dealer talked about up here in northern MA…
Mind sharing what I should expect for it to cost?
I was leaning towards the FAE brand so still doing the RUclips research of pros and cons

Also I hate to talk trash about this head because it has performed so well but one big downside is there are no aftermarket teeth available for it so you're kind of locked into what the dealer can get for you. A set of non carbide knives will run about $650! Other brands of heads have third party aftermarket teeth available for much cheaper

@@thirdhandearthworks Oh Wow, that’s not talking trash that’s talkin truth,
and I appreciate it because I can probly buy a lot of teeth for the difference in price
