what foresty head are you using? Do you like it?
It's an Indeco IMH4 And I love it. It is paired quite well with the Kubota KX040-4
Very nice mulching job
Nice job. Cleaned up real good. Looked like a really steep hill.
It was definitely steep enough to require careful movements!
Great job, waving from South Alabama.
That new thumb saddle on your Indeco mulcher really makes a big difference in your work. The way you can permanently remove and mulch small stumps for the customer is a bonus. It makes for a better finished product.
It really does make a big difference. The ability to securely grab logs and rocks without worrying that it might slip out of the grip is a pretty good game changer. Thanks for watching!
Love this content.
Awesome work! I bet that updated saddle doesn't weigh much more than the original.
You know I didn't even think about that but it doesn't seem to be much heavier.
Turned out real nice
Absolutly terrifying when not attached to the machine.
That thumb cover deserves its own video. My brushound came with one built into the frame. It's indespinsibly handy when mulching.
Impressively balanced machine.
Looked scary as hell on that table 😮
What mulcher is that? Seems like a good one!
Indeco IMH4! Such a sturdy little beast!
Looks great. Thanks for posting
Dang good job man
It's the nature of the tool but, with lots of time to brood in the cab, I convince myself I should be charging extra for every item that forces a manual extraction from the cutter.
I feel the same way but end up just realizing that time mulching or time extracting crap from the mulcher, it's all part of the job :-)
WOW. What's transformation!
What a machine!
Oof. Mulching along stone walls. No way Jose! Ill refer those jobs to the next guy.
Mulching in New England is to be working in rock all the time! Carbide teeth help a lot!
@@thirdhandearthworks I operate out of Suffield, CT, right around the corner from you, so I see what you see while mulching. Hitting rocks while mulching is one thing but mulching a stone wall, to me, is next level to my wallet's mind.
@@timberhitchllc oh hello neighbor! For what it's worth I didn't actually mulch on the wall itself, came back and hit it with a string trimmer to get the last bits off the wall :-)
We should chat sometime, shoot me an email at info@thirdhandearthworks.com or DM on Instagram or something
Very nice job. Really cleans a property up, ready for splash in the new pool someday.
Now THAT'S instant gratification. Great work!
What a great video. Just bought my new KX040 and i appreciate the detailed info on here. The only thing i was wondering how bad it would be in the hydro filters but man what a breeze.
Glad you found it useful!
Really good tutorial!
I'm very happy you got something out of it!
@@thirdhandearthworks thanks for the video!
Wow amazing machine to do an amazing work
The wind was blowing in his favor on this occassion fershur. Great job this mulcher does. Fantabulous\
Thank you!
Looks incredible. What a difference. Nice job!!
Thanks!
What’s the process for keeping it from getting overgrown again? Do you recommend spraying the area?
The mulched up debris will keep weeds at bay for a little while but when new growth does start to reemerge it will be so small that you can handle it with a string trimmer. The trick is not letting it go too long!
@@thirdhandearthworks Cool. Thanks for the reply.
The reality is, not one of my mulching customers has ever maintained an area I've cleared for them. The realistic expectation is that mulching is a maintenance item, just like lawn mowing. Frequency depends on the customers needs/wants. Sometimes it's a local blight issue that needs to be remidied, sometimes it's to keep things under "control" and growing to the "next level" that might require a tree service, but most times, it's for vanity. After the first mulching, subsequent service almost always goes faster.
That's interesting, I have many clients who keep up on the new growth usually with a string trimmer. Maybe it's a matter of scale, We specialize in small to medium mulching jobs, it's very common for us to be working in people's backyards etc
Watch out for debris accumulating between the engine cover and cab and also between the right side of the cab and the hydraulic compartment wall. Especially the rear because it's over the engine and near the exhaust and I'm always in the woods, cutting, mulching, and chipping. Lots of dried combustible material seems to accumulate there.
This is all Cap
That machine does the job alright haha
serious question: why cant you leave some of the medium/ larger trees?
Any medium sized trees that were in this jungle were totally infested with several kinds of invasive vines. None of them would be healthy trees.
Turned out nice.
Thanks Greg!
Interesting…I wasn’t aware that minis came with enough GPM’s to run a mulching head, or did you have to modify your machine to get the necessary flow rate?
This one has 19gpm out the second aux line and the head is nicely matched to that flow. Indeco IMH4.
Interesting…I never knew you could use a THUMB in conjunction with a mulching head. Was the head designed that way?
Yes and no. The head has a very stout housing over that end of the mulcher that is shaped in a way that makes it mate up nicely with the thumb and despite all my attempts I still have not crushed it! That said, that part of the mulcher lacks any sort of teeth so some things can be slippery. Teeth on the head would make this an even better setup. Also it's worth noting that this machine has dual AUX hydraulic lines which is why the mulcher and the thumb both work at the same time.
@@thirdhandearthworks well, it seems that having use of a thumb would be incredibly useful while the mulching head is attached…in conjunction with a beefed up head housing which would also allow you to “push” small logs out of the way. Someone should make such a tool…
Se corta el pasto con mucho menos que eso
Dang, hard work!
Impressive to see what you can do with just a 4 ton machine. Is that an indeco mulcher?
Hey now, it's a 5-ton machine! :-) Yes it is an indeco IMH4
I love watching you mulch. Im a woman but would love to do that work all day. If I could I would also use a machine rake then a tiller attachment then add top soil then use a smoothing machine then plant grass but would ask to install an irrigation system. I would love to make the irrigation pump like a pool pump where you could add fertilizer and pesticides. Maybe someone already made that type of irrigation pump, I have never seen one, but wouldn't all the nicest homes love to have one?
So satisfying! But, how did you get rid of the tick habitat? Won't they live in the sawdust left over? And in the forsythia? But I love watching your videos.
This work was done at the very beginning of spring so a lot of what would normally grow here had not come up yet. Mulching down everything before it could grow leaves made for a much less dramatic difference but has vastly reduced the available tick habitat for this year. The forsythia was left at the customers request for aesthetic purposes.
Very nice, looks great. Happy customer I’m sure
Thank you!
You the trauma mine ya business smdh
Fr
Run a disk through that lot and throw some seed at it would make upkeep/mowing pretty civilized. Barley 50F and the door is closed and the A/C on already!!! Free heat from the pilot control lines in the cab! Kubota is the BEST!!!
I so want to see the before and after of my back yard after mulching!!!
Let us know when you want to get on our schedule!
Great time lapse video and excellent work with the Indeco mulcher. How do you get to work the mulcher and the thumb without getting out of the cab? Separate circuits or are you using a diverter switch in the cab? One other thing, are the bigger logs mulched or hauled away?
Thinks I'm glad you enjoyed it. I ordered this machine with a second auxiliary circuit out front so the thumb is plumbed to the first one and the mulcher is plumbed to the higher flow secondary
Great tool, great utility, and great work! I drive past this job every day. The transformation is remarkable!
Thank you!
What brand of mulching head is that?
Indeco IMH4, simple but tough as nails
Nice work! That's instant gratification for the customer (and their neighbors)! The yard went from nightmare to park-like in a few hours.
How much land was that, that you cleared? Were the trees dead, or just winter- no leaf?
It was close to a half acre total and 90% of that was dead!
Nice!!
