a wonderfull video Noble, i didn't even like Desolace before this video, so thank you for this peace of lore. P.S i still want the lore of Suothern Berens, but if you can't a'm happy with Feralas.
Oh wow. That is where I got my very first reputation (when I started as a human mage, before turning her into a horde mage towards the end of Wotlk) I wanted a particular mount, and you had to be exalted. That mount was a frost sabre tiger mount. xx
I’m so sad!!! I was hoping we would go over the Alexstrasza part, that acorn had me crying!!! I just wanted to hear you tell it. Otherwise, fantastic video as ever Nobbel
Damn!!! How did you post this a day after I was leveling in Desolace and thought "Wow I really want to know the lore of this place and Maraudon". Are you a RUclips Ad algorithm? lol
Oh man I remember grinding centaur rep back when I was a wee bab. Desolace is one of those places that isn't at all visually appealing but somehow still kept me there through sheer force of will lmao
I can understand why many people didn't do questing in Desolace in vanilla or after Cataclysm. It's kinda a depressing zone. But I like the redone version more than the vanilla version.
I quite liked the odd version because it was depressing. I mean its called desolace for a reason, now with all the plant growth I wouldn’t call it that. Maybe half-desolace?
I kind of enjoyed it back in classic because it felt like I had made it into into a distant and forgotten territory, and it genuinely felt dangerous questing there. I guess it felt distant and forgotten because there weren’t many other players there
Hey Nobbel! I was so excited when i found out you made a Desolace video. But u didn't mentioned who does those huge skeletons belonged to. The ones you show right at the begining of the video (sec 0:06) I want to know who where they! Old god minions? Huge demons?
I would have loved to talk about it, but afaik there is no story behind it. We do have this from the rpg (which is considered non-canon) The Valley of Bones in Desolace is a crag infested by skeletons and centaur necromancers. Collapsed against the cliff wall are several massive skeletons, that resemble snakes or naga. They have armor and each hold a trident. Many believe that the Valley of Bones is cursed, and as such almost all of the centaur clans avoid it. The valley’s floor is littered with what is believed to be bones of the Old Gods, presided over by Magram centaur necromancers and skeletons
@@Nobbel87 Man, thank you for your response! Excellent research, this is the most info i've read about those huge skeletons. I love finding those kind of things in WoW, i always take pictures and video and hope one day to make videos talking about them. For instance, may i sugest talking about the huge green head from a fallen statue found in Thousand Needles? I've always wondered what statue did that thing belonged to and where are the other parts? I supose it was an ancient Night Elf Statue but who knows! Regards!
If I had to invent some headcanon, then maybe some proto-naga also created by N'zoth or another Old God way back during the days of the Black Empire? Or a progenitor of the Sethrak, as their origin beyond the Troll-Aqir war is unknown?
Wyndell Lee Cairne was a true hero, it's a real shame the fate he met in the shattering book. Coming from the Cairne server, it's so disappointing to see how spineless Baine is.
Always liked this zone even in classic we used to have rep for the tribes back then and a faction QM and whilst it might have seemed desolate thus the name if you looked around you could still find interesting stuff and unspoiled areas.
Valerie C I went there shorty after getting my level 40 mount on my Paladin, ran through there killed a lot of mobs and that was it from what I remember lol
I been playing since 2004. My first toon was a warlock. And i did hit level 40 while in the middle of questing in Desolace. I went to get my felsteed and i was back in Desolace the next day on my new shinny mount to keep on questing (Desolace was actualy my favorite zone back then for some strange reazon). And today i learned that the Felsteed is originary from Desolace....
I spent hours in Desolace back in Vanilla. When my mage was around her early level 30's, I first went to Stranglethorn as most Alliance players are wont to do. It felt way too crowded for my liking, however so I looked around for an alternative and found it in Desolace. I stayed in Desolace from level 32 ish up to 38 ish and during my entire time there, I only ever saw a handful of people. There weren't really a lot of quests to do around there back then, but I just spent my time grinding mobs and looking for the most lucrative vendor trash mobs around so I could make a little change while leveling. I always kinda liked Desolace. It was far enough away from the Alliance hotspots that I didn't have to worry about sharing mobs with anyone and most Horde players tended to ignore it as well. The very few Horde players I did see had zero interest in fighting me however and seemed to be more interested in moving out of Desolace asap.
gorgeous? is that really the right word? are you talking about the post-cataclysm desolace? it definitely looks better than old desolace which was essentially grey dust from top to bottom, east to west.
I actually loved the zone. Because it was so left out of life. Another zone as life threatening was silithus. Uldum, it was an interesting zone. unfortunately we don't see anything from there anymore. it was the zone behind the wall, where nothing was known. it is ancient, so must have quite a history.
The zone that nobody wanted to do in Vanilla. There were demons, naga, undead, centaur, burning blade and a bunch of beasts. But not a single questline that stood out.
i dunno there was the questline the war between the two centaur tribes which was unique compared to any other questline in wow. You had to manually go and decide which faction to just start ruthlessly murdering lol. After watching this video its interesting to learn that the Magram tribe was "the good guys" ultimately, especially since i played a lot of leather wearers and so more often sided with the Magram than the gelkis. Also this video makes me wonder are there any centaur in the eastern kingdoms? i feel like there were some centaur in Draenor as well, HOW THE F DID THAT HAPPEN?
You almost give me the motivation to level a toon to 120. only have my mage on 120, i'm just thinking about 110-120 and all the rep grind with the wq's...I don't wanna go thru it again just like legion but its prob the right time for it since we don't get that much with 8.1.5. all I want for my mage at this point is change him from reg troll to the new trolls but thats 8.2. now...
It would be interesting to know if at one point the princess actually was beutiful, not like a human would see her but a more primal beuty. Her ugly look would come from the corruption from N' Zoth, since he seems to be behind most of the ancient bosses we fight.
