My first Jeep was a Jeep Liberty, and I still love that thing to death even now that I have a rather well-built Wrangler. Though having driven almost every type of Jeep made after 1980 Offroad, the WJ, the KJ, the XJ, and all the Wranglers are in their own league compared to the rest when stuff gets hard, in that order. I'm not knocking these little Jeeps though, I always cheer whenever I see Renegades climb over stuff. They are just so cute! What really matters is the people are out there enjoying the trail, who cares what vehicle they are in?
Just Bought my Wife and Family a 2021 Renegade TrailHawk with Panoramic Moon Roof (not the removable panel moon roof, this one is WAY WAY NICER!) and I can’t wait to start modding this extremely nice and extremely affordable 4x4 Trail Rated Jeep! First upgrade will be a Rear Diff Skid Plate so I can take it off-road soon. At first I didn’t think I would like a Renegade until I drove one, WOW the interior room is impressive and in my professional opinion Exactly the same cargo space as a Jeep Compass! Love the ride.... I have a 2017 Trailhawk as well and love it haven’t done any mods yet but this vid gives me hope for hitting the harder trails in mine
I don't know if it'll ever be as good offroad as a Wrangler, especially at rock crawling, but a Renegade Trailhawk with just siped mudders and a winchmount at both ends can be pretty capable offroad with a good driver. A 2" suspension lift and taller tires improve the Renegade approach/breakover/departure angles vs stock, but I'd start being concerned with COG, especially if the track width isn't increased. A lot of supposed 4WD systems can't move the vehicle if just one wheel has traction. A Trailhawk can...but so can a JK/JL/JT. BrakeLock works in rocks. On an older convertible Jeep (CJ/YJ/TJ/LJ), installing lockers works similar offroad, if not even better. The Renegade can possibly get 30MPG though.
I like the effort and I think Wranglers are "overpriced" so I understand the motivation. Something like this would be more tempting if they put a locking differential (at least in the rear) and a turbo engine that wasn't designed for max fuel economy like the weird little 1.3T they have now. Would be hilarious and awesome if they could fit their 2.0T in this platform.
Much respect for her! She knows her stuff! I love my GC but her Renegade looks like a hell of a lot of fun! Reminds me of a modern AMC Eagle SX/4 which I always admired!
Just goes to show....you don't need the full meal deal Jeep to get out and enjoy....She really knows what she has, the mods are functional, quality and it is used accordingly.....respect
A FIAT 500 for offroading. The dependability of Chrysler combined with the no nonsense off-capability of FIAT platform. Excellent choice! Best of both worlds.
Its the CRV of jeeps, it's great for mild snow and mud situations but if you start going extreme you’ll be spending alot in repairs. It's a good daily that will get great MPG if you keep it mild.
The potential was there for the Renegade to be a really good vehicle. Reliability issues will definitely plague them until Jeep get's it completely figured out. I've done oil changes on them and it's no joy. Under the hood isn't bad but dropping the oil is a completely different issue. Some manufacturers have just cut holes in the under engine shield for the drain plug and the filter, and Chrysler has done this but the Renegade has a huge pan that has to be removed with several screws just to access the filter. A strategically placed hole in the shield would have made all the difference here. Otherwise, she's got a sharp looking unit and I hope she enjoys owning it.
Some people might laugh at her but obviously she plays off the pavement with it more than some highly moded wranglers that I have seen. Kudos to her.

Hell ya!! You’ve upgraded your Jeep like I have upgraded my 4 runner!! Mine has 275,000 miles. I’m seriously thinking about getting a renegade!!
In Europo the ranegade can be equipped with the 2.0 turbo diesel so I guess that other one could be fitted in
Much respect for her! She knows her stuff! I love my GC but her Renegade looks like a hell of a lot of fun! Reminds me of a modern AMC Eagle SX/4 which I always admired!
i have a 2018 Renegade. its not like my JKU Rubicon but i like it. Just wish it had a larger gas tank.
Just goes to show....you don't need the full meal deal Jeep to get out and enjoy....She really knows what she has, the mods are functional, quality and it is used accordingly.....respect
Such a fun little vehicle.
Sweet Renegade! Nicely modded and not over-done
Thanks!
You go girl!!! Love your Jeep 💛 it looks great!!
It looks great. Very impressed with the owner and the Jeep.
I love this Renegade. Congrats.... From Brasil.
Nice ride and love they keep editing in the same B roll of them going up the small rock step
A FIAT 500 for offroading. The dependability of Chrysler combined with the no nonsense off-capability of FIAT platform. Excellent choice! Best of both worlds.
Not sure if serious...
Its the CRV of jeeps, it's great for mild snow and mud situations but if you start going extreme you’ll be spending alot in repairs. It's a good daily that will get great MPG if you keep it mild.
I don't think I could of made the sarcasm any stronger.... :D
Great stuff. Thanks for sharing.
