@@fordfiveohh I think the first thing after those big off road tires and a modest lift would be a set of e lockers or air lockers. You can get them for the renegade and they would allow for lower throttle crawling. I don't think you can get a low range gearbox in there as I think the differential for the transmission feeds right into the center diff in place of one of the two half shafts. I'd have to check. Still the renegade is surprisingly capable and with just a few mods (say 5k in add ons) it can hang with even pretty well modded out wranglers.
@@mizinoinovermyhead.7523 Hello! I'm from Brazil and I have a Renegade 2.0 Turbodiesel 4x4. I read your comment and didn't understand it very well, as I don't speak English. But, is it possible to install a rear differential lock on the renegade? (Sorry for my bad English). Thanks!
I just bought a trail hawk for my wife this weekend and we live near a state park in Indiana. drove through it just for kicks down a road that is for 4x4 only and we went right up this road that a big truck had just gotten stuck on lol little renegade doesn't have a lot of horsepower but its ridiculous well built
Put a one inch Eibach spring lift and 225/65 17 BF Goodrich TA KO2 on otherwise stock 2016 Renegade Trailhawk. Fun for moderate trails & still drivable daily. Like a goat - small and capable, good for beach and trails. Not for expert or extreme rock crawling but loads of fun at a really reasonable price. I also own a 1997 TJ stick with: 35s 6 inch Rubicon lift & winch - 44s. JEEP life.
Renegades (and new jeeps) are so underrated. So happy to see someone proving the mettle of one of these things. You won't be climbing 5 foot rock faces, but you clearly get a heavy dose of off road ability without sacrificing daily practicality or a hefty price tag ($30K loaded trailhawk is pretty damn reasonable). You get car handling, Jeep look and fun. It's perfect for those of us that want it all. I think people get way too hung up on the fact Fiat bought Chrysler. Jeep is still the same company, they just have new people funding their operations. Fiat has taken more from Jeep than vice versa. They're doing an excellent job of bringing their lineup into the modern era, and this proves it. It proved you don't need a straight axle, 6 inches of lift, 35 in. tires, and a v6/v8 to have some fun on the trail. I hope to get a renegade trailhawk as my next ride, and lift it like this one! Great video!
Eric Greening you can get a loaded one for 20 k with low miles a renegade trailhawk that is beat part is it gets 30mpg highway Fuel efficient, can go pretty much anywhere, reliable, and affordable
Eric Greening I don't like the look of the Renegade that much, but the new Compass looks great, imo! If it uses the same powertrain and suspension as the Renegade, I could seriously see one with this lift and tires in my future! :) I have a Subaru Crosstrek now, and it's been in the dirt a few times. ;)
I've thoroughly enjoyed mine (2016 Sport 1.4 4x4 with MT). It's a fun, practical daily driver and as a bonus you get some off road ability and foul weather confidence. Bought new, now at 60k trouble free; would definitely buy again. Of course I'm a little upset that they're getting rid of my six speed for next year.
Spend a little extra and get a used Cherokee trailhawk. You’ll be glad you have the extra space and power if you get the v6. Plus it has an actual transfer case with low range and a real locker on the back. I have one and love it. You can get a used Cherokee TH in the low $20s.
I think we sometimes forget the simple pleasure of those first times out on a fun trail. I look at this and think just how many people just might decide to buy a small Jeep and venture off road in a safe environment. If it gets people into the off road life style and builds the Jeep name then why would we not ask them along on some trail runs. You never know who the next Wrangler owner might be. But he just might start in a Renegade or Cherokee. And i think thats a very good thing. Good Job Eddie and Cindy.
Actually I traded a Rubicon for a renegade Lol..more relaxed ride and still a trailhawk plus turbo.. heated steering wheel.. heated seats . leather..snow sand mud.rock mode..😊..my Rubicon was meant for hard off roaders Lol
Great video, it is good to see someone do a video to show how capable the Renegade is...Hope this will quieten down the Haters...Everyone should just be glad Jeep is thriving...It is good for all! We know it isn't a Wrangler, just the same as a Wrangler isn't a CJ.....

i love seening the 3 jeeps going up the trail together. It really shows the difference in performance. But man that little renegade was amazing. I'm sold on the trailhawk. Looks like a great ride to own.
i love how this renegade owner wasnt afraid to take on the offroading trails that trail rated renegade was made for and i love how he wasnt afraid of getting a few dents here and there, those dents arent really dents when you consider how they add character to the little bad ass renegade.
That's awesome! We took a stock Renegade on Hells Revenge in Moab, UT and... it survived but man was it sketchy! There were times we had people holding it down so it didn't roll because of the lack of flex. All the people we passed were like, "you took THAT on Hell's Revenege?!" Crazy stuff!
First time Jeep owner here. Bought my 2015 Jeep Renegade TH last month and I'm happy to see what this baby is capable of doing. Awesome vid and keep it coming!
I know this is an older video, but damn, the production value and editing on this are amazing! This could be a Jeep commercial for the Renegade and Wrangler, as well as the offroading hobby itself. It's crazy that you only have 75k subs, with you having such great content compared to other channels.
IMO, the Jeep Renegade is a great platform for modifying because of it's small size and short overhangs. It's modern suspension will make it more comfortable and stable on the road, too.
Took a stock renegade trailhawk off road the other day. Not just small trails but areas designed for lifted jeeps with lockers. Despite a huge pucker factor and being very careful not to scrape it, it got up steep rock gardens and through a trail people avoided in lifted trucks. Led to some great views. The brake torque differential system Jeep uses can be difficult but once you understand how it works you can get over anything even riding the skid plate. A lift, some real tires, and some rock sliders are now in the future.
Seeing the lifted Jeep Renegade Trailhawk was actually inspiring to watch... I've seen so much hatred towards the new Jeep Renegade but I'm glad there are people out there that take their Renegade Trailhawk out to play with Wranglers on the rocks :)
+AWDfreak Clearly, the Renegade isn't for everyone and without question, it's no Wrangler but really, I don't think Jeep ever intended it to be one. We already have 2 built up Wranglers but still love our Renegade.
Wayalife That's the point! You're one of the few who "gets it!" It's NOT supposed to be the Jeep Wrangler, and it's literally best-in-class for off-road capability compared to the other subcompact crossovers (which, oddly enough, my Subaru XV Crosstrek is also compared to). Sure, it won't keep up with Wranglers on the Rubicon, but it can hold its own. And, it doesn't require extreme obstacles to have a lot of fun in a capable crossover such as the Renegade :D
I pick up my new Renegade Trailhawk in a couple of days!! Seeing this video makes me happy that I chose it. Now off to get a lift, tires and fab up some sliders for it 😎
So glad to see this video and know my little Rennie can do this. I just bought a used 2015 Trailhawk and love it. I have a Wrangler in the family also.
I have one ..best beach buggy ever, lightweight and I never get stuck or bogged down..might not be a rock climber.but it suits me fine.gets great milage,I live outside of jacksonville fl.im 30 minutes to almost all beaches around, throw my cooler and rods in and I'ma catchin redfish..love it
What makes the Rene so much fun is the fact that a lot of things become a challenge, it can do almost as much as you can throw at it! Except for giant ledge climbing. Everything else comes down to driver skill! Oh and MAKE SURE TO GET THE DAYSTAR LIFT, It opens up 100% more trails.
This video truly has helped give me the confidence I needed for buying a renegade, so that I can take my fiance out and do some light wheeling, and camping, I intended to put on the Daystar rocker guards, lift, tires, and winch bumper.
Way I figure it... Taking a traditional jeep (wrangler style) up a trail like this is just a boring repeat of something tens of thousands of others have already done. Taking a unibody FIAT 500 with mud tires up a rough trail, is a unique and interesting challenge that very few will ever attempt. Cool stuff!
Pretty good for a lifted FIAT. I would never buy one, but at least people are taking it out and playing with it. That's what it's all about. Happy trailing.
I have 4 modified Jeep's I love em. my Wrangler unlimited is my 3rd favorite out of mine. I'm just glad Jeep's are still getting credit for great work not Fiat cause they want you to go out and explore. Your right not everyone needs a Wrangler. My 04 Libby kj super modified just is a really comfortable jk and can romp circles around jeeps 10 times it size. I love all my Jeep's and have never hated anyone that drives one of them as long as they do there own work. there is nothing worse then someone that don't know anything about there jeep, lift, tires, tire size, etc and on and on. I live just north of Moab, Utah and tearing up the land with God knows what you have is the REASON THERE TRYING TO CLOSE IT. Love jeep owner's and the time they put into this amazing hobby/lifestyle!
I own two wranglers! 2015 jeep Willys wheeler and 2015 Sahara love them both, going to Arizona this Sumer and I'm taking both! Can't wait to go offroading there👍✌️🌵😀
people always seem to dis the renegades. I never quite understood it, even as a 2015 renegade trailhawk owner myself. I'm glad to see there's video proof of these things doing good work. I've even used mine to yank vehicles twice mine's size out of mud holes before. A jeep's a jeep.
Impressive! I've been following the Renegade from the concept stages, it's amazing to see how far it's come, and what it's capable of. I would love to get one one day! Thanks for the video btw!!
I am so happy to find this video. I just purchased the Renegade Trailhawk because I can not afford that beautiful Rubicon. I was really hoping to get up into the mountains and enjoy the ride. It looks like I will #LOVE
"Lifted" and "Renegade" were two words I didnt think could go together lol xD But man thats impressive as hell. All you need to add to that little monster is some rock sliders. Took my KL TH through Hells Revenge a while back, and they do save the sides for sure. Great video, nice production and editing!
Impressive with an experienced 4 wheeler behind the wheel, I would have ripped that muffler off first going, but its a very capable little Jeep. Great job with it!!
+Wayalife would you consider this a good travel vehicle ? camping , going up the mountains to ski etc . I was considering a wrangler. but I like the fact that the trailhawk loaded is around $32000. I'm assuming wrangler 45000 .plus lifting it and tires . and I do need the 4 door's! thanks once again I think this is the 5th time I watch it. lol
I own a Compass trail Hawk Bought it because I like getting out in the hills and places you can't get in a lot of SUVs but it really is quite surprising what it will do . It's all about having fun and it delivers I'm currently building front and rear Bumpers and roof rack to start
Great video! It's awesome to see what the Rene can do. I just got a ATP 2.0 lift for mine. Once that's in and I get some better tires I'm looking forward to having some fun with it.
A lot of people hate on the Renegade and underestimate what it's capable of especially once you install the lift and give it proper tires. I didn't know you could disconnect the sway par on those things. Put some rock rails on that thing and it nearly unstoppable in its own right.
I just bought a Unlimited Rubicon, and I'm very happy with it. I may add a Teraflex leveling kit. When it's time to replace these tires I think it's going to be the BFG K02's in the 34 10.5r 17 on my stock rims. I have over thirty years in a Jeep and it started with a CJ and then TJ and I've loved every minute.
+Walter Sigona i want those tires for my wk, but it's a tough pill to swallow at almost $300 a tire. i bought a set of great condition rubicon take offs for $250. never seen anyone selling the 34/10.5r17 ko2s though. is 1 inch of ground clearance worth $1k? not really.
A little $ spent on some fairly heavy duty skid plates would really help to not damage the underside of any "new" four by four...kinda made me cringe watching that Renegade. But Jeep should take note that a little more "air" under the Renegade vastly improved it's looks and stance. A little more aggressive look makes it more appealing...going from a soccer mom SUV type to something that's worthy of the Jeep name. The Renegade is growing on me the more I look at it.
I went back and read a lot of the older comments and must admit when the renegade first came out all I saw was a mall crawler for your wife...but you could tell it had potential. This video was great but only showed a little of the potential and it definitely showed how great the new Cooper discoverer stt pros are!! I drive and off road a Ford Raptor. The main problem with the raptor is how wide and just plain how big it is on your normal off road trails. So I'm back in the smaller is better mindset. The renegade could be great if they came out with a V6 rubicon type version with a decent lift. Think about it a 4" to 6" lift, V6, sway bar disconnect, and lockers with the stt pros and that would be highly capable. Obviously not better than a wrangler rubicon but it could hang. Great video all around though and the best I've seen as far as educating people on how awesome the Cooper stt pros are. Keep it up!
Hey Wayalife, what a great video showing the Renegade's potential. I foresee this video sparking other 4x4 enthusiast to push this little Italian inspired body with a transplanted heart&ingenuity of AMERICA to the LIMIT!! As we see here lol. I have a question regarding the tire/wheel set up on your W.A.L. (
Considering the lockers, lift, and articulation of the Wanglers, the little Renegade was awesome.
Surprisingly, these things really don't do too bad.
@@wayalife if the renegade had low range.... 56:1 like the Cherokee 2.4 . . It would rule it.

This video truly has helped give me the confidence I needed for buying a renegade, so that I can take my fiance out and do some light wheeling, and camping, I intended to put on the Daystar rocker guards, lift, tires, and winch bumper.
Curious how that went for you, I'm sitting here looking up dealerships. Did you do it?
Way I figure it... Taking a traditional jeep (wrangler style) up a trail like this is just a boring repeat of something tens of thousands of others have already done. Taking a unibody FIAT 500 with mud tires up a rough trail, is a unique and interesting challenge that very few will ever attempt. Cool stuff!
Definitely makes it a bit more of a challenge :)
Pretty good for a lifted FIAT. I would never buy one, but at least people are taking it out and playing with it. That's what it's all about. Happy trailing.
Great video! Man those toasters are super capable! Looked like a fun time!
+Joey Steger Thanks Joey, we did have a great time and these Toasters are really surprising the heck out of us :)
Love jeep owner's and the time they put into this amazing hobby/lifestyle!
great lines and wheel placement! thank you for another great video!
+Craig Daye Thank you and we're glad you enjoyed it
Renegade did great. Really enjoyed watching it of course your an expert I would total it. Great channel
LOL - These things do surprisingly well for sure. Glad you enjoyed the video.
I own two wranglers! 2015 jeep Willys wheeler and 2015 Sahara love them both, going to Arizona this Sumer and I'm taking both! Can't wait to go offroading there👍✌️🌵😀
Anibal Babilonia
Were in AZ?
More than just a Jeep....it's a RENEGADE!
sirtubemaster yeahhhh!
Glad to see someone putting these new Jeep Renegades to the test. Great video as usual.
+Zach Carnegie Thank you
That was fun to watch. Thanks!
+Steve Botkin Thanks! We're glad you liked it :)
people always seem to dis the renegades. I never quite understood it, even as a 2015 renegade trailhawk owner myself. I'm glad to see there's video proof of these things doing good work. I've even used mine to yank vehicles twice mine's size out of mud holes before. A jeep's a jeep.
“All 4 on the floor” unless of course you have independent front and back suspension. Then it would be “at least two to get through”. 😂
Well done - I'm happy to see The Renegade performed so well. Congratulations.
Impressive! I've been following the Renegade from the concept stages, it's amazing to see how far it's come, and what it's capable of. I would love to get one one day! Thanks for the video btw!!
+Jonathan Calleri Art Thanks, glad you liked the video and yes, they've come pretty far.
WOW! Never knew you had a Jeep Renegade! Very cool!
Yeah, we actually loved having it. Would have kept it but needed room for other projects.
The guy in the renegade is a good driver
I am so happy to find this video. I just purchased the Renegade Trailhawk because I can not afford that beautiful Rubicon. I was really hoping to get up into the mountains and enjoy the ride. It looks like I will #LOVE
"Lifted" and "Renegade" were two words I didnt think could go together lol xD
But man thats impressive as hell. All you need to add to that little monster is some rock sliders. Took my KL TH through Hells Revenge a while back, and they do save the sides for sure.
Great video, nice production and editing!
Its nice to see the Renegade go!
Go little Jeep go!
this inspired me to buy a renegade trailhawk..!
Fiat 500...
Another cool video. I still watch all of them all the time.
+ProRockJK Thank you
Impressive with an experienced 4 wheeler behind the wheel, I would have ripped that muffler off first going, but its a very capable little Jeep. Great job with it!!
+Scale Model Kit Review Thank you.
+Wayalife would you consider this a good travel vehicle ? camping , going up the mountains to ski etc . I was considering a wrangler. but I like the fact that the trailhawk loaded is around $32000. I'm assuming wrangler 45000 .plus lifting it and tires . and I do need the 4 door's! thanks once again I think this is the 5th time I watch it. lol
+Hugo Yanez Oh yeah, it's a great travel vehicle and one that gets much better MPG than a Wrangler.
yes! Best video ever! Don't need a Wrangler. I'll compromise some ability for gas and comforts.
+Jeremiah Munoz LOL!! Thank you.
Not bad not bad with a bit more skids the Trailhawk perform well.
I own a Compass trail Hawk Bought it because I like getting out in the hills and places you can't get in a lot of SUVs but it really is quite surprising what it will do . It's all about having fun and it delivers I'm currently building front and rear Bumpers and roof rack to start
Great video, great comparison thank you
+Daniel Blauvelt Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it :)
This king of way justified a lift for Renegade as snorkel crossing small rivers.
Excellent as always.
+Tom Olofsson Thank you
Wow Eddie that little Renegade impressed me,but on the other hand you were in command, way too go my brother,I’m learning from lol 👍
LOL - you're too kind :)
not bad for a baby jeep lol
If I get one I'll name it baby jeep. I want a wrangler but cant afford it.
Its a fiat
Great video! It's awesome to see what the Rene can do. I just got a ATP 2.0 lift for mine. Once that's in and I get some better tires I'm looking forward to having some fun with it.
Great ride and awesome film... Just by Wayalife.
+jmd4wd Thank you
A lot of people hate on the Renegade and underestimate what it's capable of especially once you install the lift and give it proper tires. I didn't know you could disconnect the sway par on those things. Put some rock rails on that thing and it nearly unstoppable in its own right.
+Michael Miller eh, let the haters hate. Dying to get my hands on a set of rocker guards and see how much more we can do with our Renegade.
+Walter Sigona i want those tires for my wk, but it's a tough pill to swallow at almost $300 a tire. i bought a set of great condition rubicon take offs for $250. never seen anyone selling the 34/10.5r17 ko2s though. is 1 inch of ground clearance worth $1k? not really.
Great video Cindy and Eddie!!! I'm super impressed with how capable renny is!
+Cozdude Thanks Steve, we really had fun with it :)
Andrew k Adams pretty sure the trailhawk comes stock with skid plates
