Should loosen the oil filter first and you will be able to extract more oil

This was very informational, actually. I bought my 2011 XK used, and I remember spending 20 minutes looking for the oil dipstick, lol. Ever since then.......it's been a love/hate thing. You probably understand.

There's a RUclips video of a guy doing an oil change on the Jaguar XF 2011 V8 5.0l motor. Same engine as your XK. It does have a drain plug but it requires a lot of trim to be removed to get at it. Your method looks easier and cleaner. It's just a pity with that oil filter that it can't be primed full of oil before installation as it's upside down.

Thank you for this helpful video. If I have done the oil change in what way I can have access to the service menu and enter the information that the service has been done?

Hey thanks for the vid man, good stuff! You did a good job, clear and concise and I really like that you included the parts where you had trouble finding info. I'm having trouble finding info too, and I'll believe a guy like you who figures it out on camera before i believe a guy who's super confident but doesn't really show how he got to that conclusion. Question, I have a 2015 XF with the 5.0 but it's the SC version, and I know I'm going to have an oil change coming up soon. Is there any reason to think that my procedure will be any different from yours?

      Hello! Thank you for watching!
As far as I know, the motor is exactly the same minus the supercharger. The procedure should be the same, only thing I would double check is the oil capacity.

My hose diameter is a bit too small to fit onto the oil metal knob.. So I'm asking...Do you HAVE to put the hose on the metal knob? or could I just place it into the oil reservoir container to suck it up?

I think there should be no problem putting it in and sucking it out. The problem will be getting enough suction if the hose is smaller than the metal knob.

You probably want to find a hose that fits. The tube would go all the way to the bottom of the oil pan (like a dipstick tube) vs. the fill location likely does not.

Have you had problems with your xk I’m thinking about getting a 2012 but people keep telling me there break down a lot.

Not a single issue. I am surprised at that. I have actually only heard good things about Jaguars from people who actually owned them. I only hear negative things about these cars from people who never owned one. I heard from so and so that Jaguars are unreliable and have issues and so on....but never actually owned one.
I would recommend this car and haven't had a single issue with it.

I have had a 5.0 XK since 2015....zero issues other than normal stuff like tires and oil changes and a battery. You need to put the parking brake 'ON' and double lock the car with the remote. This shuts down the vast majority of the onboard modules that would otherwise drain the battery. Earlier 5.0 XK's had a water pump that would die prematurely. Not a big issue but something to be aware of. Other than that, they are fairly bullet proof IF you change oil every 5,000 miles unlike the recommended Jaguar service intervals. BTW, I just bought a second one because the first one was so good.

Top side oil change on this engine could literally not be easier. Why can't every car be like this? Why pay the dealer god knows how much, when it's this easy?

Mannnn you can't get no better oil changer than that?Thumbs down just because oil changer looks and acts very cheap to achieve the job

You can get a "better" oil change at the dealer for a few hundred dollars. They use the exact same method, probably a fancier suction machine to get the oil out. These cars have the metal rod to suck the oil out for a reason....
Actually very nice and easy system, and pretty clean too.
