Nice video mate. Few extra tips; once you’ve added your new oil and you want to check your oil level again, if it’s not registered double press the Cruise Control cancel button. That will reset the readout.
Also, build a little pressure in your extraction pump and use the suction to extract the oil in the filter housing. 👍
Great tips thank you very much.
I kicked myself about the filter housing afterwards, how stupid was I? 😂 had an oil sucker and I used kitchen towel 🤣
Nice I'm going to change my oil this weekend thanks for the video.🙌🏿
Interesting video. Thanks. Both my 2013 and my current 2015 XFR take 0/20 oil, although the dealers always seem to put 5/20 in. Using the 3+ service plan from Jaguar, a service can be had for £225 - £260. Jaguar don't tell you about this though. So you have to let them know, that you know. Worth it, because it will save a lot of money if you still need the online service history.
Thanks ! Very useful video ! Will do it on my next oil change ! Very easy !!
Glad to help out, save a bit of money 😁👍🏻
@@69racer69 Yes, 550€ in France ! 😅
Really useful. Thanks. Have the exact same car as you. So you have another follower now.
Awesome, glad to hear you have the exact same car. They sure are cool. Is yours black too?
@@69racer69 Stratus Grey actually. Hadn't clocked your R100 was black. This is mine ibb.co/kSHpyp7 and ibb.co/8PTcbtL
Ordered all the stuff to do this on mine. With a 20L bottle of oil and a pair of K and N filters it's almost as much as a main dealer service. Subsequent DIY services will be cheaper though :D
Definitely cheaper in the long run, and satisfying to do 😁
great bit of entertainment thank you guys saved me a big job , theres a hole/crack in my buck dear delila dera delila
Very informative guide thanks, great looking Jag too. Keep the videos coming.
Thank you, there is definitely more to come. Thanks for the comment 😁👍🏻
That saved me a few quid , Thankyou , how about a gearbox and oil filter change next ? Save me some more money 👍⛄️
Am getting my gearbox done soon, but I won’t be doing it myself, but I’ll video it all so you’ll know how to do it.
Awesome video mate. I literally had mine serviced today at the stealers. 🤦♂️
Ooooops, did they rip you for anything else while you were there? At least they give the car a clean 🧽
The stealers lol love that term 😆
@@69racer69 it did get a wash which was great. But apparently my washer bottle has a leak which would require investigating to the tune of £180 per hour. 🤔 Also my rear tyres are in amber with 5.2mm tread. 😅😅
@@bedumon lol they told me I needed 2 new rear tyres because I only had 5mm of tread left, robbing buggers. Water bottle leak to investigate 😂
Yeah the car wash was a nice touch.
@@bedumon did they try and sell you discs and pads too?
Another great video 🤝!
Thank you, I hope it helps you
Can you do this on a Jag XFS V6?
Great video 👌
And Miller Oil is top drawer..... 💯
More than likely yes, take a look under your oil cap to see if there is the metal pipe in the middle.
I use white grease on those plastic threads for the oil cape , it just helps the next time u take it off so it’s not as hard on the plastic threads .. plastic and heat don’t mix well ..
Nice Jag! I’m interested in that oil ! I’m currently running Amsoil in my Rover. Unfortunately the store that sells my oil, change the hours and closed early . So I had to go to O’Rileys and pick up some Castrol Edg oil . I just inspected the oil after 2 k miles and uhh 🤦🏽♂️ that oil is junk !! Definitely not ever using. That oil ever again should of used Penz oil for a back up … also I recommend The Euro brand “ MANN filters “ ! I use those as my Oil filter cartridge They come in a green and yellow box .. they are excellent filters! , I also picked up some air filters and they look exactly like LandRovers but with out the label or Land Rover .. Anyways Great video ! Cheers 🍻
Great info, thank you for taking the time. I will definitely get a Mann filter next time, I used to use those before on previous cars.
Millers oils have always been great, Castrol edge is really hard to get hold of in the grade recommend to my engine and is very expensive. Millers is also cheaper.
Great vid, was already to get mine up on the ramps and do the oil change from underneath, no need now. Were did you get your miller oil from if you dont mind me asking.
Going underneath is a right pain in the ass, there are so many bolts, SO MANY!!
I got the oil from Opie Oils, they have 15% off at the moment.

@@69racer69 thanks, i appreciate that, only done 2k since the last change but it was a year ago so no harm in changing it.
@@cbrboy76 lockdown was good for our cars that’s for sure lol.
@@69racer69 i generally commute on my motorbike so my jags milage stays low but i miss not being able to nip into north wales for a blast.
@@cbrboy76 oh I bet that’s a nice drive, spring/summer is on the way, lockdown will finish just in time.
Great way of doing an oil change. I didn’t even know that some cars have that little tube under the filler cap, I’ve certainly never had a car with that though.
Do you know if a car without this tube in the filler cap, could have a oil change done with this pump? There’s the dipstick tube like you said in the video, but I don’t think the supplied tubes would reach the length of the dipstick tube to suck all the oil out?
You can use the dip stick tube but you would have to extended the pipe. I have seen that people have joined 2 together. You may have to wiggle the tube around at the end to get as much oil out as possible.
I’m grateful that this engine has this feature designed in.
@@69racer69 ok thanks for the reply. Yeah it’s a great feature, all cars should have that. I certainly wouldn’t pay someone £60-100 to do that, when you can do it yourself in half hour, and you know exactly what oil is going in too 👍🏻
@@jonnygti the knowing what oil is going in is the biggest thing for me. I want to look after my car and make sure it has the best done to it, so it being cheaper is a bonus 😁👍🏻
@@69racer69 absolutely, especially with a car like yours with a performance engine, it should be fed only the best fluids😁
You can by extractors that have a main primary pipe and the the other sized pipes attach to that. Infact the pipe you used in the video may have been the primary pipe, you may find the other sizes go onto that.
I use Ravenöl 5W40 - XjR 650HP
👌 Excellent video, how often do you recommend changing the oil? I only do about 1000 mile's yearly.
Wow you only do 1,000 miles a year?
Like I said in the video, my dad used to do it every 3,000 but others are doing 5,000. That’s still tiny amount of miles seeing as oils are longer lasting these days, but I like to keep good oil in the car to ensure it doesn’t wear. So anything under 10,000 is normal but obviously less miles the better.
I don’t know how you stand if you only do 1,000 miles. Could do it every year out of habit, but I’m sure the oil would last just as long in your engine as it would on a shelf in a store if you’re not using it.
Thank's for the quick reply. The car is mostly kept in the garage like a trophy😁. Was going to ask you about the water pump, when's the best time to change this? The car is around 10 year’s old, so just want to freshen thing's up.
@@XFR937 the water pump normally lasts till around the 80k mark I think. I wouldn’t touch it unless it was starting to make noises. How many miles do you have on it?
Has just come to 50,000 mile's now. Thank's for letting me know, the engine sound's good, no odd noise's.
@@XFR937 first thing to start making noises will be the supercharger coupler, don’t take it to a main dealer, look at the aftermarket overhaul kit at powerhouse. Much cheaper and better than the genuine Jag/Eaton kit, Jag will make you replace way more things that you actually need to. So that will be first before anything else.
Cheers for the video, just ordered some miller's for the job. Any issues a year on?
No issues at all, it’s been a great oil. My pump has failed though so I bought an electric oil extraction pump from the middle of Lidl for £12, going to use it this weekend 😁👍🏻
@@69racer69 hi mate, would you do a video showing the 12v pump? im about to buy one but not sure which one to buy
@@bigmatt2896 I only have the one from Lidl, works great. I’m not changing my oil till September.
@69racer69 OK buddy thanks, how do you power it being as the battery is all the way in the boot?
Did the pipes fit OK?
@@bigmatt2896 ahhh of course, that is the harder part, I have a battery that isn’t on the car that I use. Either the battery I took off when I replaced it, of if I use the small one that have have for my go kart starter. It’s a shame there is no jump start points under the bonnet, that would have been useful.
There are lots of different sized pipes, and there is one that fits just right.
You should've lubed the 'O' Ring with the new oil, not the old black stuff. Otherwise a job well done.
Ahhh thank you, I was thought years ago to use the old oil. But makes sense to use clean new stuff.
Great car you got there, millers oil is excellent. But the oilchange with the pump is not to recomend, as you dont get out the residue in the engine that will be in the bottom of the engine. So at the end what you saved here moneywise is not a save if you think longterm.
Thank you buddy. This is exactly what the main dealer does and what the extraction tube was designed for. Only way of getting the full debris out properly is removing the sump.
So many cars have the oil changed like this now. Pretty much every car that has the oil filter at the top of the engine, can and should be done like this. Most cars sump plugs are not on the very bottom of the sump anyway so you always have a small amount left.
Thank you great help, I'm looking to get a xfr once I sell or px my rs4 b7, what advice have you on what to check for on the xfr
Check out my other XFR videos, you’ll see a few things that you can do. I’ll be posting more.
What sort of age and mileage are you going for? There are a few major things to look out for, the timing chain needs replacing at around 105k miles, check for chain rattle if it’s over that and make sure you have proof of the change.
The super charger can have a knock, but that’s actually easy to have sorted. And the water pump bearings tend to go around 80-100k I believe. So listen out for knocks and noises. They will all have little noises like that so not to worry, only worry if it is a larger sounding knock. If it’s super charger, buy the car but at a lower price, you’ll need to spend a little to get it done but they are probably thinking the charger is f**ked when it actually isn’t.
Lower suspension are bushes, the large ones, these go first, but again fairly cheap to fix if they do. £65 for updated aftermarket parts plus an hours labour.
Other than that, the cars are amazing, little niggles are easily fixed.
Good luck, you’ll love these cars!!
@@69racer69 is it the chain or the just the hydraulic tensioner that needs changing?
@@scotthandley6215 it’s the chain itself and tensioner that needs changing. Big job to do.
@@69racer69 rough cost
@@scotthandley6215 I have no idea what the pricing is right now, not sure on the market for milage etc but it could be between £8k for an early model with high mileage car and £25k for a low mileage car.
Great video. Is the oil synthetic?
Yes 100% synthetic. It’s their premium range. Even their lower range is the spec thats in the Jaguar handbook. I just chose to get the even better stuff.
@@69racer69 oh that's great thank you for the information by the way I had my Jaguar tuned and the upper pulley change I have 490 the rear wheels and 590 the crank does that sound right to you
@@adventurousx8220 it’s in the ball park of where it should be depending on the year of your car for what ECU you have and what your engine condition is like.
Did you have any traction issues maybe? Mine had the issue and we had to put “weight” in the boot to get the full figure.
Where did you get the tune?

I know this is an old video but obviously still relevant. I have a question, is that the correct oil my XK 5.0 same engine says 5w20 on the cap but on some Jaguar owner threads they are saying Jaguar now recommends 0w20.........having checked my 2022 bill garage is still using 5w20. Any thoughts.....ps nice video
Use what ever your hand book says. They did update to 0w20 later, either would be ok, as a rule I use what ever the handbook says.
@@69racer69 thanks for the reply 5w20 it is 👍
@@philboyce1582 definitely, I’m not sure if they changed any of the internals when the changed the oil grade.
@@69racer69 it has a service countdown which in my view is a bit of a joke, always comes up “service now” about 2months prior to the annual date even though I only do 2000k dry miles a year in it😂 10,000 or annual is the book recommendation. I’ will stick with annual & after watching your video And I’ll start doing the oil, air/ cabin filters myself....
Great video what size of the filter cap removal do you have to get I saw a 90 mm but it was too big
Thank you, there is a link in the description for each thing I used including the removal tool 😁👍🏻
I don't know where to find the link
Nevermind stupid me I see it
Hi I just followed your video I did my first oil change since I've had the car and I did it by myself thanks to you you made it very easy but I'm getting a little different courts to put in the car some places se7 some say 7 and 1/2 some say 8 I'm not sure how many quarts to put in
@@adventurousx8220 I’m not sure what it is in quarts, we use litres. Google the conversion and Use the oil level indicator to check its right.
Did the Miller’s oil perform better than the others and are you still using it?
Still using it, for the performance I rely on the results of tests that I’ve seen. It’s a great performance oil and not over priced.
Hope you are keeping well mate, having abit of a issue with the engine coolant getting low. I topped it up to the correct amount, and after two short local journey's, it has gone right down. What would you recommend i should do?
Have a good check around to see where it is leaking, there is a weak point on a tiny small hose that is in front of the supercharger. Check there and check everywhere to find a possible leak. Let me know what you find.
Thank you so much for your reply, i have had a look around, but can't really see any leak's. I have topped up the coolant, and went for a short drive, and then checked thing's over again, and the coolant level seem's fine. Bit puzzled on what to do.
@@XFR937 keep an eye on it and see if it keeps going down.
Check out the exhaust to see if you can see any steam or can smell a sweet smell. Or if there is any froth under the oil cap. Very unlikely but you never know.
It could of been an air lock in the coolant system if you have had a service at al or have not used the car for a long time?
Only thing i have noticed on start up, is a few drop's of water from under the back box delete. But other than that, have not noticed anything else. Will keep a eye out, thank's mate.
@@XFR937 that just sounds like condensation. Have you have it serviced or has it been sat for a while?
How many miles did you do on the old oil? I don’t think it was mentioned in the video.
Too many 😂
Not quite sure but it was over 5k
Did their marks account for the amount of oil in the tubing and pump?
Their marks didn’t line up for the real amount at all. There is no oil left in the tubing and pump, it all goes into it after it’s sucked up some air and cleared itself.
I've just done a quick google and it says around 2013 jaguar changed the recommended oil from 5w20 to 0w20 on the XFR for some reason?
Yes they did, definitely recommend for colder climates.
What is the best opinion for xfs v6 3.0diesel when engine was start knocking. Ofcorse at service man told me need change engine
I would take it somewhere else for a 2nd opinion.
I can’t comment seeing as not there, but I would check to see if it’s the water pump. They are noisy when the bearings go.
Ther was very bad knocking and engine start shaking
@@24Ivars then maybe the man is right, maybe it does need a new engine? I really can’t comment, sorry.
Did you check the 1 litre mark on the Jug was accurate?
Yes I did. Used a Pyrex measuring jug. I didn’t check the 1L measure on the that though
Where did you get your pump from? I need to do mine next month.
I bought it from Amazon.
And I got the oil from Opie oils 😁👍🏻

@@69racer69 Another great video. If I’m ever passing buy I’m gonna have to buy you a beer for all the money you’re saving me. By any chance, do you have a link for the pump and oil? Keep the videos coming!!
You said 6.75 litres at the beginning and you thought you were half a litre down, so shouldnt you have put in 7.25 litres? That's what the manual says for oil.
Please note that this way does not remove all the used oil from the engine. Therefore do not over fill with new oil. Still better to drain through the sump.
Wrong....this removes the same amount of oil as the drain plug version.
